Work Text:
The cap left her a few streets before her destination. As she used to. She walked with her bag ready to change at the club. She was so excited. She needed this, she couldn’t wait for him to show up.
Another street closer, still no music to be heard.
Dipper was putting a shoe on then he checked his watch, he prepared his backpack then back to his watch. It was soon. He was more than ready, this was party night, after all, Mabel must be waiting for him, all needed to be perfect.
He was going to check his watch again when the sound of a disco girl interrupted him.
“Mabel? Something going on?” this is weird . His mind already creating a terrible scenario after another.
“The club closed, Dipper” Oh. That is manageable . “It closed our night”
He listened carefully. But in the back of his mind, he was back to planning.
Mabel came back to an empty home. Dipper nowhere to be seen. She moved toward the sofa and sit. A big sigh that transforms into a groan let her mouth.
I can believe it. Tonight. Tonight, party night, my night . The disappointment passed to frustration passed to anger. I did everything right, from walking over from a corner a few streets, or the changing clothes, everything . She was trying not to keep thinking about it. She just…
She just really needed that night.
Moments later she started to hear a song. That song, she didn’t remember how many times was playing in the club or how many time she requested it. She didn’t need to think much to guess what was happening. Her emotions were a mess, anger mix with excitement. And above all the guilt.
“Someone asks for a party?” he said lifting a bag full of snacks and party stuff, smiling at her, checking on her.
“Yes! Yes! Here! I am your girl!” she answered. Letting the excitement speak.
He didn’t stop there, he changed into his party clothes, and invite her to do the same.
The playlist loop and the first song play again and they did their lonely dance.
