Work Text:

Seungmin glanced out the clock once more with a sigh.

1:26 am.

Chan was coming home late again.

Seungmin sighed. This was the third night in a row that Chan had come home past midnight.

Seungmin grabbed his phone in a huff.

To Channie<3:

Love, are you coming home soon?

No response.

Seungmin rubbed the sleep from his eyes and headed out the door. He was fed up with Chan’s bad habits.

To Channie<3:

I’m on my way, be ready.

-

After a short bus ride, Seungmin arrived at the JYP building. Walking in, Seungmin greeted the security guard.

“Hello, Seungmin. On your way to see Chan?” The young security guard asked.

Seungmin laughed bitterly.

“Sadly. He’s been overworking himself again. I’m taking him home to get some rest.”

The security guard chuckled, aware of the producer’s bad habit.

“Good luck with that. He’s been in there all day. That man is going to end up working himself to death.”

“Not if I can help it.”

-

Seungmin quickly made his way towards Chan’s studio, knocking on the door in a huff.

No answer.

“Chan, it’s Seungmin. I’m coming in.”

When, again, no response was given, the younger slowly entered the room, eyes immediately softening.

Chan was slouched in his chair, head on the desk and headphones around his neck.

Seungmin felt guilty for having to wake the older boy up, but if he wanted to get him home, he had to.

The raven-haired boy reached up, running his hands through his boyfriend’s hair.

“Channie. Wake up, babe. It’s time to go home.”

Chan stirred in his sleep, taking a while to drift out of his slumber. The older boy stared up at his boyfriend in confusion.

“Seung? What are you doing here? I thought you would be asleep by now.” He mumbled, clearly still disoriented from being woken up.

Seungmin lightly chuckled, ruffling the blonde’s hair before speaking.

“I couldn’t sleep without knowing you were home safe, so I came to bring you back.”

The older’s eyes widened in shock, the guilt visibly taking over.

“Oh no, Seung. I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to keep you up. Let’s go home.”

The tired boy tried to stand, only to stumble and plop back into his chair.

“Come on, muscles. Let’s go.”

-

When Seungmin had successfully managed to get Chan up, the two made their way out of the building. Chan clung to the younger boy’s arm, intertwining their fingers.

Once again, Seungmin passed the security guard, smiling as the young man waved goodbye to the couple.

-

The two walked in silence toward the bus stop, Seungmin eventually falling behind as he watched Chan stroll on his own.

Chan was still aloof as he headed toward the bus stop, too busy in his own thoughts.

Soon. Chan reached the crosswalk and absentmindedly started walking without even a glance at the road.

Seungmin watched as the younger began to cross, who was blissfully unaware of the speeding car heading his way.

“Chan!”

The younger boy’s eyes widened, rushing to grab hold of his boyfriend and pull him out of the way.

“Oh my god, Channie.”

The younger boy hectically scanned his boyfriend’s body for any injuries, tears clouding his vision. Thankfully, the boy seemed to have no physical damage.

“Baby, you need to…” He paused seeing Chan’s bewildered expression, softening his gaze and pulling the older in for a hug.

“Look both ways.” Chan just sobbed, nodding.

“Shh, it’s okay. You’re safe now.”

The two stood at the crosswalk for what seemed like hours until Chan calmed down.

“What’s wrong, love? You normally aren't this shaken up,” the younger questioned, scanning his face for an answer.

“I didn’t want to scare you like that, Seungie. You looked so worried and it was my fault.”

Chan’s body began to tremble again.

Seungmin just pulled him closer and pressed his lips on Chan's forehead, reassuring him that it wasn’t his fault.

“It’s okay, Channie. I know you didn’t mean to scare me.”

Chan only hummed into Seungmin’s neck before pulling away and wiping his tears.

“Are you ready to start walking again, love?” The younger boy mumbled, interlocking their fingers.

Chan simply nodded, continuing their walk towards the bus stop in silence.

-

Soon, the two reached their bus stop and waited shortly before the bus arrived.

Once the two had swiped their cards, Seungmin guided them toward the back, sitting on the inside to keep Chan from feeling cramped.

Chan sat in silence, attempting to glance out the window, only to be blocked by Seungmin’s face. Not that he was complaining. The boy looked so pretty all lit up by the moon.

Seungmin seemed to notice the boy’s attempt, shifting in his seat.

“Here.” He said, getting up.

“Take my seat.”

Chan only chuckled at that, pulling the younger back down in his seat.

“I thought you wanted to see the stars,” Seungmin muttered, clearly confused by the older’s actions.

“I don’t need the stars when I can look at you.”

-

The remaining minutes of the bus ride was filled with a comfortable silence.

Soon enough, the two arrived at their stop, and quietly filed out of the bus and onto their street, hands immediately finding each other.

The two-minute walk home was nice, Chan observed as Seungmin dazed up at the stars, eyes twinkling along with them.

Seungmin was an angel. His beautiful angel.

-

The two entered their home hand in hand as Seungmin lead Chan towards a stool in the kitchen.

“Sit here, I’ll be back with some tea.”

Chan watched as Seungmin prepared his tea, making it exactly how he liked it. Seungmin was so kind, he gave the older his everything. Chan loved him so much for that.

“Drink up, baby,” Seungmin whispered as he pressed a kiss into his boyfriend’s hair.

“Thank you, Seung.”

Seungmin only smiled in response. Adoring his boyfriend’s soft features as he drank.

“Seungie? Can you tell me about your day?” Chan asked, finishing up his tea.

“Well, today we went out to play and it was so beautiful. The kids seemed so happy playing. Oh, it was an amazing site, Channie. They get so excited at the smallest things.”

Chan thought being a kindergarten teacher fit his lover perfectly. Seungmin had a nurturing soul, always taking care of others and making sure they were okay.

Chan listened as Seungmin described his day, watching as the younger boy’s eyes glistened with joy. Wow, he was mesmerizing.

-

Slowly, he reached the bottom of his cup, eyes beginning to close.

Seungmin giggled at the other boy’s current state, wrapping up his story.

“Come on, Channie. Let’s go get some rest.”

The older only nodded, letting Seungmin lead him towards their room.

Seungmin tossed Chan one of his hoodies, well aware that Chan would rather wear one of his instead of his own.

“Go change, love. I’m going to go get ready for bed and then we can cuddle, alright?”

Chan simply nodded, changing into his boyfriend’s hoodie and a pair of sweatpants. The scent of Seungmin’s cologne filled his nose.

After a few moments, Seungmin reentered the room, guiding Chan towards the bed.

The two quickly crawled under the covers, intertwining their legs as Seungmin wrapped his arms around the older and placed Chan’s head in his chest.

“Goodnight, baby. I love you.” Seungmin whispered, placing a kiss on the other’s forehead.

“Sweet dreams, Seung, I love you too.” The older mumbled, pressing a soft kiss on his lover’s lips.

“More than anything.” He whispered to the tired boy before drifting off into a deep sleep.
