Work Text:
Megumi wakes to the sound of his phone ringing by the night stand. It was loud and incessant, causing him to let out a long frustrated groan from underneath the comforts of his warm blanket. He blindly reaches out a hand to feel for the device which caused a few other things to fall from the night stand. Unbothered by the mess he was making, he opens his eyes to lazily check for the time and the caller ID.
And once he does, Megumi felt his blood run cold.
It was already eight in the morning. He had an appointment scheduled half an hour ago, which Kugisaki had made a point to constantly remind him for the past three days. The ringing finally stops to reveal ten text messages from Kugisaki herself and at least five missed calls from three different people.
He'd overslept.
Fuck. Kugisaki was going to kill him.
Letting out a low curse, Megumi gets up and makes his way over to the shower as quickly as he could. He could still make it to his second appointment if he takes the bullet train instead of the bus. If he buys some of those really fluffy milk bread from the bakery near the clinic, he could probably get Gojo to cover for him until he arrives.
He's already forming five different excuses and apologies in his head to give the patient by the time he's managed to get himself dressed and ready to head for the clinic. He descended the stairs two steps at a time and made his way over to the kitchen to grab his lunch only to pause when he sees Sukuna by the stove.
Seeing his boyfriend in nothing but a low hanging sweatpants made Megumi's cheeks heat up when his eyes landed on the red scratch marks littering the man's back. Sukuna sensing his presence, finally turned his head to look at him, a teasing smile already on his lips as soon as he saw how flustered Megumi looked.
"Like what you see?"
Megumi's frown only deepened and he refused to answer Sukuna's question, not wanting to admit just how much the sight of Sukuna is enough to get his heartbeat racing. Realizing just how much time he'd already lost over ogling his boyfriend, Megumi makes his way to grab the neatly prepared bento box waiting for him on the kitchen counter.
Sukuna always insisted on making Megumi’s lunch for him, no matter how busy his own schedule was. Only the best for you, my love. He had explained once when Megumi tried to convince him to stop, assuring Megumi that he was more than happy to make his food for him. And who was Megumi to turn down such an offer?
The bento box in question was wrapped in a soft navy blue fabric with a bunch of shiba inus printed in every direction. Megumi was pretty sure Sukuna had it custom-ordered from some fancy shop one of his clients probably owned.
"You're up pretty late." Sukuna commented, removing his apron to sit on one of the island stools as he regarded Megumi with a raised brow, his piercing glinted from the movement and Megumi looked away to stop himself from getting distracted once again.
Sukuna was quiet as he patiently waited for his reply.
"I slept through my alarm." Megumi finally admitted in embarrassment.
Sukuna barks out a laugh from his answer and Megumi could do nothing but glare as he waited for his boyfriend’s laughter to die down.
"It's not like I wanted to be late." Megumi mumbled under his breath, but even that sounded like a pathetic excuse to his own ears.
"Want me to dive you there?" Sukuna offered nonchalantly.
And if Megumi didn't know how busy Sukuna's schedule is and just how much of a scene the sight of Sukuna's car would cause at the small veterinary clinic he worked at, Megumi would have said yes. But knowing his coworkers, Megumi could already feel a migraine coming from the onslaught of questions Kugisaki and Gojo was sure to ask him if they ever saw him coming out of a brand new black mustang.
Megumi would rather take his chances riding the train, no matter how tempting Sukuna’s offer was.
So with a resigned sigh and a shake of his hand, Megumi makes to grab for his bento only for Sukuna to grab his arm suddenly.
Surprised by the unexpected action, Megumi turns his head towards the older man in question.
"Aren't you forgetting something?" Sukuna asked, clearly amused as he flashed Megumi a knowing grin from where he sat.
Without thinking much about it, Megumi leaned in to plant a chaste kiss right on Sukuna's lips. That seemed to catch Sukuna off guard if the way his cheeks colored a beautiful shade of red was any indication.
Megumi heard him cough once, already shifting his expression back to his usual look of cool composure as if nothing had happened.
But Megumi could still see the tips of his ears tinged in that same shade of red and the sight was enough to make him smile. Sukuna can be really endearing when he tries. Getting the chance to see him like this was such a rare occurrence that the thought only made Megumi’s smile grow wider.
He hears another cough aimed to get his attention and he sees one of Sukuna's hands reaching for something in his back pocket, slowly the hand raises to reveal what looks exactly like Megumi's wallet.
Oh.
So that's what he meant.
The realization of his earlier action has Megumi completely flustered all the way down to his neck, apparently it was his turn to get embarrassed. He makes to grab the item in Sukuna's hands quickly to avoid any further embarrassment, but his boyfriend has other plans.
Sukuna moved his hand away, smiling when he saw the deathly glare Megumi was aiming at him.
"Kugisaki's going to kill you for making me late." Megumi warned, completely serious.
"You were already late." Sukuna pointed out, the amusement back in his tone. "And besides," he started to say, shrugging his shoulders as he hid the wallet behind his back pocket once again. "Her threats never worked on me."
Megumi didn't have any more time to waste so he makes to grab for Sukuna's hand once again, but Sukuna saw his hands moving and immediately moved away before Megumi could even grab onto his wallet.
"What will it take for you to give my wallet back?" Megumi huffed in frustration.
Sukuna closes his eyes in thought, humming at the question and Megumi's tempted to grab the wallet while his boyfriend's distracted. But before he could set his plan to motion, Sukuna opens his eyes and the look he’s giving Megumi was already enough indication that whatever it was that Sukuna wanted, Megumi wouldn't like it.
"How about another kiss?"
Megumi blinks, unable to process the request right away. “Come again?”
"I want another kiss, Megumi." Sukuna repeats rather fondly, his eyes forming into crescent when his smiles.
Megumi's sure Sukuna's loving every second of this.
Stealing himself, he leans closer until their faces are only inches apart. "Just one kiss." He warns dangerously with another glare aimed towards Sukuna, which the older man easily dismisses with a huff of laughter.
"You drive a hard bargain, sweetheart." He teases. But before Megumi could argue, Sukuna's other hand was already dragging him by the collar of his shirt to seal their lips together.
The kiss lasted a whole lot longer and by the time Sukuna finally let go, Megumi was left gasping for air.
"Alright, off you go." Sukuna said, looking completely satisfied with himself from the kiss. He gets out of the stool in one smooth motion and grabs Megumi's things by the counter with one arm while the other grabs for the car keys laying suspiciously close to where the bento was.
Sukuna was quick to lead Megumi to the garage, placing a helping hand on his back to lead him to the newly bought mustang.
And for some reason, Megumi had an inkling suspicion that everything seemed to go exactly as Sukuna wanted for it to be a coincidence.
His boyfriend was already putting on his favorite red hoodie by the time Megumi could say anything about the suddenness of the offered ride.
He opens the car door for Megumi and waits for him to get in.
And only once Megumi got in did the realization of what Sukuna had done finally set in. He hears the car door closing beside him and he watches the way Sukuna starts the engine with a sort of fluid ease that has Megumi's heart racing. But he had more important matters to worry about.
"You..." Megumi paused, unable to finish the sentence right away. "Did you make me late on purpose just so you could drive me to work?" He said in bewilderment, unable to process the sheer madness of such a reasoning.
He hears Sukuna laughing beside him as he shifted the car in reverse, looking backwards with his elbow on at the backrest while his other hand held the steering wheel easily, Megumi had to look away from the sight if he's planning to stay mad at him.
"Don't laugh, I'm still mad at you." Megumi fumed, completely annoyed.
"It wasn't completely on purpose." Sukuna tried to explain in between laughter, he chanced a quick glance over at Megumi from the corner of his eyes when they stopped at a red light. "You looked really cute all tangled up in the blanket when I went up to the room earlier and I didn't want to wake you."
"You should have." Megumi huffed, refusing to let his anger go just yet.
"Forgive me, my love." Sukuna said, reaching out his hand to rub Megumi's thighs soothingly. "I'll make it up to you." Sukuna added with a knowing smirk.
"You better." Megumi answered, crossing his arms over his chest to emphasize his statement.
"It's a promise." Sukuna agreed easily with a wink.
In the end, Megumi makes it to his second appointment fifteen minutes early. Kugisaki and Gojo took one look at Sukuna's car and immediately cornered Megumi by the entrance to ask him who the incredibly attractive looking man was by the steering wheel.
Megumi didn't pay them any mind, not when his ears were still ringing and completely tinged in red after hearing all the things Sukuna said he’d do to make it up to him later.
He could still feel the soft press of Sukuna’s lips on his neck and Megumi wanted nothing more than to finish all of his appointments as soon as possible.
Sukuna wasn’t one to break his promise and Megumi would make sure he makes good on each and every one of them tonight.
