crashin' the party (guess they lost my invention)

Summary:

namjoon was supposed to have a nice eighteenth birthday, maybe spend the day with his angel; have some fun.

he wasn't supposed to wake up in a room full of demons claiming that they were his guardians.

a sick joke was all he could play this out to be.

Notes:

i should work on my other stories but here i am *sigh*

as always im on twitter @i69Bts

title and chapter title are from descendants! and i stole the school name from liv and maddie bc apparently school names are really hard to come up with.

Chapter 1: bad 2 the bone

Chapter Text

kim namjoon was a popular student at ridgewood high, but popular wasn’t the right word to use, no- not popular, infamous.

and why wouldn’t he be infamous? tall, handsome, out of the ballpark grades and smarts. the teachers loved him, his mother was head of the pta, and he was a football player. the star of the school. even on days he’d ditch class entirely, spending entirely too much time with the cheerleading squad his grades were top of the class (the same, sadly, cannot be said about the cheerleader’s marks.)

most of the boys (the ones that didn’t want to fuck him), hated namjoon’s guts. their abhorration only grew whenever their girlfriends would swoon over him.

the football team worshiped namjoon as a leader, the so-called team captain would step down at meetings to let namjoon speak about their gameplan. he was a natural born leader.

define cool; kim namjoon.

school kim namjoon that is home kim namjoon is a whole other story. an angel - only figuratively of course, he was no guardian.

although his mother and her angel, gowon, loved to call him one.

he absolutely adored gowon - he loved both of his mothers, but he looked up to gowon the most. she was everything he wanted to be in life. beautiful, smart, and a strong leader, yet fair. she knew how to be fair.

on everyone’s eighteenth birthday they get an angel sent down from the heavens to you; a guardian angel. on some occasions, angel s

guardians are meant to fit perfectly into their human’s personality, almost like soulmates. many people decided to follow an amorous path with their guardians, luckily interspecies offspring almost never occurred. nephilim, they were called.

humans weren’t really allowed to learn too much about nephilim, or any other biblical creatures for that matter. namjoon never really minded; he knew what he knew for a reason. he wasn’t about to go against god’s word.

namjoon was excited. not too many people in his grade had their guardian angel. it was the night before his eighteenth birthday, and he could barely close his eyes in his excitement, squirming around under his covers all night. his mind full of questions and wonders about his guardian. or guardians - he wondered if he was special enough to get multiple angels.

he couldn’t wait to wake up and meet his guardians. he wondered what they would look like. would they be korean like him, or white? perhaps black? tall or short? he laughed at the thought that he would be taller than his guardian. he knew he was taller than average, holding himself at six feet. girl, boy, non-binary? gosh, he was so excited.

namjoon knew whoever his angel turned out to be, he'd love them.

when namjoon woke up on his birthday as his electronic alarm clock started beeping, he sat straight up in bed, hand flying out to shut off the clock. today’s the day!

he blearily blinked around this room, his mind dimly supplied him with the fact that - oh - he was not alone. that was right! today was his birthday!

he reached up to rub at his eyes squinting hard, looking around to be surrounded by, no, not angels. panic filled his chest, cold and unwelcome, as he realized who exactly was with him.

demons.

so many demons, he counted them up quickly, one sitting cross legged on the end of his bed head in hands as he boredly watched namjoon. two sitting in his desk chair, their bodies tangled together. one standing by his door, leaning against the frame cooly. one by his window, sharp eyes watching him like a hawk. the sixth and final demon stood right next to his head, next to his nightstand and alarm clock.

namjoon, being the rational new adult he is, did as any rational adult does when waking up surrounded by demons.

he screamed.

“hey, hey, hey!” the demon sitting at the edge of the bed lunged forward to slap a hand over his mouth. the black faux angel wings spread out angrily behind him. “don’t scream.” his features were wicked, brow and mouth pulled down into a point.

namjoon didn’t think that demons would have the vocal capacity to growl but the demon who was currently pinning him to his bed certainly just growled at him. perspiration beaded up on his forehead.

yep, he was going to die. no doubt.

namjoon’s eyes shot wide as he glanced around at the other demons in the room, all of their eyes were on him. they watched him struggle and namjoon felt like a tiny organism in a science lab under their gaze. his breaths came in sharp bursts.

uncomfortable. scared.

definitely not the way he expected his birthday to go.

the demon’s heavy breathing caused their chests to bump together, making namjoon hyper aware of the fact that he was trapped beneath this monster.

where was his angel? what happened to them? his mind raced. who are these demons?

he was snapped out of his spiral by his mom knocking on his door. “namjoon?” gowon knocked on the door harshly. “who’s in there with you? are you alright.”

“mommy-!” namjoon shouted out in panic against the hand covering his mouth. the angel was the best person to handle the situation, with her high ranking in heaven she could shut whatever this was down right away.

the demon next to him glared at him, his eyes shifted into slits. his hands grabbed namjoon’s shoulders and pushed him down onto the bed. the demon made eye contact with him and namjoon briefly thought that, wow, this demon would be beautiful if he weren’t currently restraining him at the moment.

“shut up.” the demon next to him glowered.

gowon knocked harder at the door. “joon, honey, i’m coming in.” there was a loud bang at the door and a crack as the lock on the door broke the frame.

the angel broke in, her eyes wild. her maternal instincts going wild.

the demons that had been by the door hissed at her, facing away from namjoon. his large devilish wings spread out behind him in an attempt to intimidate.

gowon grabbed his face, staring into the demons eyes. “stand down.”

namjoon shuddered, he knew that tone of voice. gowon only used that voice when he was in deep trouble.

“and who are you to tell me-?” the demon snarled.

“i am one of the highest ranking officials up above.” she squinted at him. “and you? what are the likes of you doing in my home?”

namjoon along with the other demons watched as the angel’s gaze overpowered the demon’s. the demon shook his head, retracting his wings in shame, he stepped to the side, letting gowon pass. she gave him a short look.

gowon glared daggers at the demons restraining namjoon. they blinked at her slowly moving off of namjoon. the two of them lowered their heads, twin feelings of shame. gowon huffed and went over to her son.

she knelt by his bed and cradled his face gently in her hands. “my boy,” she whispered. “are you alright? what have they done?”

namjoon stared blankly back into the angel’s eyes. “i-,” his tongue darted out to nervously lick at his lips. “where’s- my guardian?”

gowon looked at the demons surrounding the room and namjoon curled himself closer to the angel in apprehension.

“i don’t suppose you six know anything about namjoon’s guardian?” she asked, not sure what to expect, but she sure didn’t expect to see evil grins spread across their faces.

“pleased to meet your acquaintance,” the demon by the door rasped with a wink.

“excuse me?” her brow creased.

“where are the forms min?” the same demon asked, directing the question at one of the demons squished into his desk chair.

“i haven’t a clue what you’re talking about.” he grinned, his soft features turning into something sinister.

“cough it up.” the demon rolled his eyes.

min cracked his neck to the side, pounding on his chest lightly. he opened his mouth and in a burst of almost comical spiral of blue flames a scroll apperated out of the fire. in the back of his mind, namjoon was reminded of the dragon from my little pony doing something similar to that before. min caught the still sizzling scroll, he tossed it a few times as it burned him before he opened it to show the angel.

“we are on a probation of sorts,” min’ s smiled didn’t falter. “we just have to keep the human alive and happy and shit and we get out of our punishment, for good.”

namjoon looked at the elegant script on the yellowed paper. “and what happens if you fail?” gowon voiced his question.

“we get sent back to hell for another millennium. your son will be fine; we don’t want to go back to hell.” the door demon said.

“why are you being punished?” namjoon asked, voice dry from tiredness and strain.

“do you really want to know?” the demon by the window asked, his dark eyes met namjoon’s and that's when he thought that he really didn’t want to know.

it was more of a rhetorical question than anything as the demon by the window continued on. “you ever heard of mount vesuvius? that was just me. anger got the best of me. thousands died,” he shrugged, firey red hair bouncing with the movement. “do you really want to hear the stories?” the demon cocked his head to the side.

namjoon hurriedly shook his head that no , he didn't want to hear. especially after the complete lack of remorse on the demon's face, no, no, he did not want to hear the rest.

“thought so,” he demon winked at him.

namjoon looked back at his mother.

“i don’t like this.” she said.

“it's not like the big guy won’t step in if we do something wrong. we’ll be on our best behavior.” the door demon said.

“your best behavior doesn’t even match my worst,” gowon shook her head. she deliberated. “you hurt my boy and i’ll personally see that you never leave hell again.”

she turned to lean in close to namjoon’s face, “let’s go find mama and let her know what’s going on. she had quite a fright when she heard your scream this morning.”

namjoon dully nodded, shooting a frightful glance around his room. he was still mostly in a state of frightful shock. he sprinted harder than he’d ever in his entire life out the door.

gowon shot a very un-angel-like glare around the room. “you all count to one hundred then come out and find your way to the kitchen.”

“why one hundred?” one of the demons whispered as the door softly shut.

“milf logic?” another suggested.

milf logic also happened to be cradling your son’s head and not letting it go, even after they started begging to be released because ‘ mom i can’t eat my cereal like this’. namjoon found out once his other mother immediately wrapped him up in an airtight hug.

gowon had taken it upon herself to fill her wife in on the guardian situation.

“demons? is that even legal?” jiwoo demanded. “that can’t be allowed.”

gowon sighed, “its allowed; unconventional, but allowed.” she dragged a hand down her face in frustration. “you should have seen how they had him pinned when i walked in.” the angel sighed.

“i don’t like this, not one bit of it. feels like a ploy.” jiwoo stressed, accidentally choking namjoon and making him spit out a few cheerios.

“that’s not reason enough to get rid of them baby, it’ll be okay though.” the ‘i hope,’ remained unsaid.

slowly and quietly the six of the guardians filed into the room, eyes wandering around curiously before landing on the human boy - well technically man now. namjoon was finishing up his bowl of cereal and about to drink the rest of the milk before he made eye contact with the fire burping blonde demon. he froze and set his bowl down, worming his way out of his mother’s arms.

namjoon emptied his milk out in the sink as his moms started to stare down the demons who shifted uncomfortably under the women’s gaze.

he forced a laugh, “well i’m going to get dressed now?” it came out as a question.

“yeah, baby, go do that,” jiwoo nodded absentmindedly. “i’ll just… introduce myself to your guardians.” her smile was pinched.

namjoon nodded lightly racing upstairs to collect his thoughts and get out of his newly sweat soaked pajamas.

he planned to take today easy. maybe show his angel around his school, actually attend classes and let himself have a good first impression on them. now his plans were… ruined.

namjoon never thought of himself as inhospitable, but there were demons under his roof (demons for crying out loud!) what was he to do? he didn’t want to live with them. the whole thing felt sketchy.

what if they murdered him? icey spiders crawled down his spine.

his thoughts moved to school, what would people think? what kind of freak gets demons as guardians?

maybe if he was lucky he’d manage to ditch the six of them and go try and clear his head with somin and the other cheerleaders. they were always kind to him.

he just hoped nothing much around school would change with the demons around him. the thought made him shudder as their unfamiliar faces appeared in his mind.

namjoon jogged back downstairs, looking significantly more presentable. hair slicked back like his life was a 90’s film, jeans and leather adorning his frame.

his mothers were leaning against the counter staring down the demons. they looked like they were guarding the queen’s crown, namjoon was the crown. their expressions are stoney, but softened upon seeing their son.

“my baby’s all grown up,” jiwoo cried out as she ran to hug namjoon.

her hands went up to fiddle with the back of namjoon’s head. “careful with my hair mom! mom!” namjoon shook her off, grinning.

his eyes landed on the demons who were still rooted in their horizontal lines, all staring at namjoon. he flushed slightly under the attention.

“should we get going?” he tried for his best smile, but it was horribly forced.

the blue haired one, namjoon had initially thought it was white it was so light in color, nodded. “alright, let’s go.” he smiled and namjoon remembered that, yes, this was the one that was standing by his door earlier this morning.

namjoon blinked frozen in his spot for a second and his stomach lurched. oh god.

this was really happening.

he took a shaky breath.

yeah, not the way he thought today would go.

keeping a pleasant look on his face, namjoon made his way to the door swinging his backpack onto his shoulders. he turned around expectantly. “well, let’s go.”
