Cory and Naveed couldn’t be happier now they were together. They told Riz on Monday in school as Cory knew Riz wanted to know what had happened between them over the weekend. Riz did send Cory several messages, none of which he replied to as he spent all his time with Naveed, and he knew it would annoy Riz by making him wait.
“So, you gonna make me wait forever or are you going to tell me?” Riz asked Cory and Naveed at lunch. The two shared a glance and a soft smile.
“Well, we talked and decided to give us a go.” Naveed said happily.
“You’re together.” Riz exclaimed, half questioning as if in disbelief that Cory finally told Naveed how he felt.
“Yeah, we are.” Cory smiled.
“Finally.” Riz all but shouted, drawing attention to their table.
“Alright Riz, keep it down, we don’t want the whole school knowing.” Cory chastised.
“Sorry, I’m just chuffed for the both of ya. And I’m proud of you Cory.” Says Riz, far quieter than last time.
“Thanks Riz.” Cory said softly.
Cory was terrified to tell anyone else. He had no idea what Jordan would think, he knows his dad would hate him and has no idea what his dad would do if he found out. As for people at school, the gossip would be unbearable as it spreads like wildfire and he was no idea how people would react. Nav got flack when he came out, but overall people were accepting, but Cory felt it would be different for him- he’d never had a serious relationship and he’d slept with most the girls in year 13. Would people just think he was using Naveed, would they think he was doing it for attention, would they think it was a phase and invalidate him and how he feels for Nav, would he cause hassle for Naveed? He was so scared what people would think or how they would react, he couldn’t think about coming out. At the same time he didn’t want Naveed to think that he was ashamed of him or their relationship, and he didn’t think that it was fair to Naveed to make him keep their relationship a secret. Still, he was terrified to come out.
