Cory wasn't ready to come out yet, he wasn't ready but that didn't stop him from feeling guilty about not telling everyone about his relationship with Naveed. He felt guilty for making Naveed lie to people and hide their relationship- he also didn't want Naveed to think that he was ashamed of him or anything by not telling people about their relationship. He truly wasn't he couldn't be happier to be with Naveed, its just that he is terrified of what people may think or say to him and Naveed. The only think he didn't have to worry about was his dad, seeing as he wasn't really around anymore.
Naveed, being the most loving and caring boyfriend, understood. He himself knew what it was like to have to come out. He promises Cory that he will support him no matter what. Whenever Cory is ready to come out is fine by Naveed, he's just happy that they're finally together.
Riz wants the two of them to go public with their relationship, but that's only because he's terrible at keeping secrets and is convinced he's accidently going to tell someone.
After a few months of dating Cory decided he wanted to tell everyone about their relationship, he no longer wanted to hide- he wanted to be open and be able to show his love for Naveed to everyone.
"Are you sure about this Cory? We don't have to if you're not ready." Naveed said to Cory on their way to school. Cory stopped walking, turning to face Naveed.
"I'm one hundred per cent sure Nav. I'm ready. I was scared before but I'm not now, I'm done hiding, who I am- hiding that we're together." Their plan wasn't some massive, over the top coming out, they weren't exactly going to announce to everyone or make a huge broadcast, they were just going to act how they normally would around each other, the only difference being would be that they would be in front of other people- and Riz could finally stop living in fear that he'd accidently reveal their relationship to everyone.
Naveed smiled softly at Cory, a look of adoration and pride shone in his eyes.
"Let's go then!" Naveed exclaimed. They met up with Riz at the school gate who assured both of them if anyone so much as looked at them funny he would sort them out. They chuckled softly at that.
The three of them made their way to the sixth form break room before first lesson, which Cory hated because both Riz and Naveed had a free period.
"I could always skive, it's not like it's an important lesson." Cory grumbled as he looked at the clock, seeing he had to leave and go to class. Riz was about to agree with him when Naveed interjected.
"You can't skive Cory, every lesson is important." Naveed said, with a fake sternness in his voice.
"Fine," Cory huffed as he stood up and picked up his bag. "I'll see you guys at break." He sighed. Before he left he placed a chaste kiss on Naveed's lips.
"See you at break." Naveed replied with a huge grin on his face.
"What the hell?" Alya exclaimed after seeing Cory kiss Naveed, everyone was looking over at the two, most of them looking surprised and others not so much- they weren't always the most subtle about how they felt about each other.
"Oh didn't I tell you, Naveed's my boyfriend." Cory announced with a broad smile before leaving the room to go to first lesson. After Cory left the break room descended into chaos, several questions being fired at Naveed. He shot a pained look too Riz and the two quickly left without answering anyone. There was no way he was facing that lot without Cory there to answer some of the questions.
Despite the barrage of questions from people, and the odd nasty look or comment, which was quickly dealt with by Riz and sometimes Cory- everything was great for them. Cory was so much happier now he could be open and honest about who he was and his relationship with Naveed. After the initial surprise wore off it soon became normal to see the two of them walking hand in hand, or just generally acting coupely around school.
Cory had finally got what he had wanted for so long, happiness and love. He could finally be with Naveed- the person he wanted to be with for so long but was too scared to admit. He finally felt he could be open and honest about who his was and who he loved, for once in his life Cory could say he was truly content. Cory finally felt able to choose what he truly wanted from life, and he chose Naveed.
