“Nothing in here too...” Sykkuno whisper. Sighing, he closed the cabinet door and leans against the kitchen countertop. He didn’t have any food…. and he was hungry….. which means he has to go to the store… outside….. it was dark out. Quickly putting on shoes, a thin sweater, and grabbing his wallet, Sykkuno sets out to the store.
“I really should get a car soon” Sykkuno whisper to himself, walking only on the lighted part of the sidewalk. It was only like a 5-minute walk to the store, nothing much usually happens during that time as it was a short walk. But this time was different.
It was when he stopped at the crosswalk, he saw a man in all black leaning against the bus stop station beside him. He was wearing a black trench coat, had dark messy curly hair, and was wearing a mask with what looks like pointed teeth printed on it. Sykkuno didn’t think much of him and press the button and waited until the red hand turns to the green walking man. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the man slowly starts walking towards him. Sykkuno instantly tenses up. He shifts awkwardly, looking everywhere, wishing the light would turn already.
“Hello,” the man spoke once he was a foot away from Sykkuno. Sykkuno’s eyes widen at the deepness of his voices. He sounds intimidating and scary.
“Uhh, hi” Sykkuno responds, looking at the man.
“How are you?” the man asks, staring at Sykkuno. Sykkuno shifts uncomfortably under the man’s piercing dark eyes.
“I’m um, go-good” Sykkuno reply, glancing at the light, seeing the red hand still there.
“That’s good” the man nod.
“Umm yeaah” Sykkuno said, not really sure what to say at the moment.
“Do you want something to make you feel even better?” the man all of a sudden asks after a moment. Sykkuno eyes widen.
‘Is he trying to sell me drugs??’ Sykkuno thought in shock.
“Uhhhhh” Sykkuno steps back, not really sure how to deal with this situation. “I don’t umm” Sykkuno swallowed, scared. He glances at the light and wondering why it hasn’t changed yet.
“You don’t what?” the man push on, “like cat ears?” he finishes. Sykkuno’s brows furrow in confusion.
“Wh-what?” Sykkuno stuttered confusedly.
‘Cat….. ears??’
Then the man opens the trench coat he was wearing and showed the insides….. which was filled with……. cat... ears. Sykkuno eyes widen at the variable of cat ears. The ear part was black, but the inner fluff part was a arrange of colors; purple, green, blue, orange, yellow, red, pink, black, and even a rainbow. Sykkuno looks at the man in shock and amazement, there was a long of cat ears in stuff in it. “Would you like one?” the man asks, looking at Sykkuno.
“Uhhhh” Sykkuno was still slightly stunned at the sudden change of events.
“I think the green one would look good on you” the man pull the green ones from the slots it was in. Walking forward until he was a few inches from him, he places the cat ears on Sykkuno’s head. Sykkuno looks at the man’s face, well, the parts he can see as the man made sure the ears sat perfectly on his head. “There we go” the man back up and stared at his head.
“Umm uh, I, I don’t usually wear cat ears” Sykkuno finally said something, in the moment of awkward silence of just standing there. He saw the man raised his eyebrow.
“Really? You should wear them more, you look adorable” he said, Sykkuno can tell he was smirking from his eyes. Sykkuno instantly felt a faint blush crosses his cheeks, from embarrassment and shock. No one has ever said that to him before… or ever.
“Ooh I wouldn’t say that” Sykkuno rub his neck, looking away. He heard the man chuckled.
“Everyone looks better in cat ears” he mumbles, “the lights aren’t working, you can just cross by the way,” he said before Sykkuno can say something.
“Oh” Sykkuno looks over at the light and notice that it still hasn’t changed, “thanks, I guess I should go now” Sykkuno slowly started shuffling towards the road.
“Yeah, see ya” the man nod, turning around and walk back towards the bus stop station. Quickly walking across the street, he stops and look over at the station and saw the man sitting down on the bench, with a pink cat?
‘Hairless cat?’ he thought confusedly, ‘it would make more sense.’ He stared for a moment longer to see the man pet the cat before walking into the store and finally getting food. Cat ears forgotten as his mind whirled around the….. cat ear….. dealer?
By the time Sykkuno walk out of the store, groceries in hand, the man was gone, the cat too.
‘What a strange man’ Sykkuno thought walking back home.
