Chapter Text

One morning when Momoe woke up, she decided to become a youtuber.

"Come on guys, what could possibly go wrong with becoming a Fortnite Youtuber?"

"What?" said Ai and Neiru in unison

"Everything could go wrong." said Rika, or 'little miss love live bitch', as Neiru called her that one time 2 months ago when she accidently got hit in the forehead with a baseball and suffered memory loss.

If this story wasn't a crack-fic, Momoe probably would have listened to Rika, because Rika used to be a junior idol. Of course, Momoe made the worst decision she could have possibly done. 

"Hey guys, welcome to the MomoeSawakiEpicPoggersGamer69 channel. Make sure to Smash that Like and Subscribe BUTTON! By the way, I'm doing a Fortnite V-BUCKS Card Giveaway, one of you might be able to win.", lied the youtuber.

"TODAY IM GONNA BE SHOWING YOU FORTNITE TIPS AND TRICKS FIRST OF AL-"

Momoe's mom walked into the room. "Momoe, do your chores."

"MOM GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY ROOM IM PLAYING MINECRAFT!", lied the youtuber, because she was actually playing Fortnite: Battle Royale.

"DONT TALK TO ME LIKE THAT YOUNG LADy! IM GROUNDING YOU FOR A WEEK!" Momoe's mom then left the room.

"Jokes on her, I can still scam people while I'm grounded."

Momoe was browsing the comments of her latest Fortnite scam TIPS and TRICKS VIDEO when she noticed a comment from a familiar person.

KaoruKurita2003- Momoe, why are you scamming little kids? it makes me sad to see you do this :(

Momoe decided to delete her YouTube channel.

Rika was browsing a anime store when a section caught her eye. 

"Idol anime?"

This peaked Rika's curiosity, she used to be an idol herself. She also liked anime, it was the only thing that let her pretend her mom wasn't an alcoholic who maybe drank too much on the weekends. She decided she'd pick up the first one she saw.

The first anime she found being Love Live: School Idol Project. She got 2 DVD's, both containing 4 episodes. However, as she bought the DVD's, the cashier tried to warn her about something in English, something along the lines of "BAD DVD". That was all the English words that Rika knew that the guy said. So she just thought the cashier was some weird American otaku who thought that anything that wasn't pretentious was bad.

Ai and Neiru reached the McDonalds after 9 minutes of walking and awkward small-talk. 

"So, we're finally getting burgers Neiru!" 

"I'm only doing this because you'd tell Rika what I actually want to say to her every time she opens her fucking mouth."

"THAT DOESN'T MATTER NEIRU."

"Ugh, fine."

"So what are you ordering, Neiru?"

"Food."

"I SAID WHAT THE FRICK ARE YOU ORDERING NEIRU YOU FRICKING DUMDUM!"

"God, I hate my life."

When Rika got home, she didn't even greet her mom. Not like it would matter, she wasn't even there. Rika wondered where her mom went. Maybe her mom left to the heavenly place known as OUT OF THIS FANFICTION.

Anyways, Rika put her newly bought DVDs on the counter and started watching the first one. After finishing that, she started watching the second one. This is where things go weird.

The episode started as normal until suddenly, "NICO NICO NIiiiII" The DVD froze. then the TV started to glitch. The audio sounded like a dying crow, I mean at least what Rika thought a dying crow sounded like. If Rika knew what a dying crow sounded like, I'd be horrified.

Rika froze in horror, she'd seen this before in J-Horror Movies like The Ring. She realized she was probably about to die. 

"oh my hecking god."

Ai and Neiru sat down at a table after ordering food.

"Neiru, why are you being such an absolute BITCH. You know I don't speak BITCH." 

"Ugh, screw this, anything Rika says would be way less torturous then this."

Neiru got out of her seat and walked outside of McDonald's, leaving Ai alone at the dinner table.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" screamed Ai in anguish.

"HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME NEIRUUUUuUUUUUU!"

The person working the day shift at McDonald's also felt anguished, as they wished they had taken today off and not have to deal with this annoying bitch.

Rika watched the screen in horror, before it just turned back to normal.

"Oh, I guess my TV is just broken."

She rewinded the DVD about 5 seconds.

"NICO NICO NIIII"

"phew, this is normal."

"KAWAI RIKA, IM GONNA BREAK YOUR NICO NICO KNEECAPS"

"WHAT!?"

Nico Yazawa crawled out of Rika's TV, The Ring-style. She then crawled towards Rika, also like in The Ring.

Yes, kneecap breaking did ensue.

Kaoru was disappointed in Momoe. After finding out Momoe had a YouTube channel, Kaoru was shocked that Momoe would scam little kids like that.

Kaoru dialed Momoe's number.

"Momoe."

"Hey Kaoru, is there something wrong? You usually call me on Discor-"

"WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT TO ME, I TRUSTED YOU!"

"KAORU STOP, THIS IS ALL JUST A REALLY BAD MISUNDERSTANDING! I WOULDN'T REALLY SCAM LITTLE KIDS! EVEN IF I DID, AI FORCED ME TO!"

"I DON'T CARE, I'M BREAKING UP WITH YOU!"

"Kaor-"

Kaoru hung up.

"God, if only a random crossover that won't be mentioned again showed up."

Suddenly, a totally not weird train appeared out of nowhere.

"I guess you could call this an epic gamer moment." 

Rika suddenly shuddered in her hospital bed.

"Why do I feel as if somebody said one of the most cringe phrases ever to be said in existence unironically.."

Kaoru appeared in his room after the train incident that started 2 months earlier ended.

"That was interesting but at least I'm back hom-."

His house was completely destroyed and everything around him looked like a generic post-apocalyptic movie.

"What happened while I was gone?"

2 months prior.

"So... How's it like not being relevant in this fic since chapter 2?", asked Ai, to Neiru, who was holding a gun for some reason, and Rika, who had crutches now.

"I-"

Rika interrupted Neiru. "Awful."

Neiru was so fucking annoyed by this that she pulled out a laptop and started reading a PowerPoint on how to murder people without getting caught.

Ok, so maybe video games are a bad influence on kids these days. - random boomer

Ai, Neiru, and Rika were all riding Mopeds at 70mph on an extremely busy freeway.

"Neiru! I thought you had a gun! Shoot them or something!" Ai yelled while frantically dodging bullets like it was that one scene from the Matrix.

Rika grabbed one of the wonder eggs she conveniently still had and threw it at the police, where it then gave 5 officers permanent brain damage.

Neiru suddenly took out a sniper rifle. "I'm gonna blow this popsicle stand! And their minds."

Momoe was walking past several shops when she noticed an TV in one of the displays like in almost every animated show ever.

"BREAKING NEWS: RICH MILLIONAIRE GOES ON KILLING SPREE"

"What the f-

"-UCK! HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE YOU EVEN KILLED NEIRU!"

"78."

"How did you even do all of that?"

"Rika, there's a reason my sister tried to kill me."

Suddenly, a bullet hit Neiru's moped and it crashed into a nearby brick wall, causing explosions to ripple like this was some tokusatsu clip you were watching at 3 am.

"NEIRU!"

Ai ran over to Neiru's moped, the only thing remaining being a tire for some reason."

"No. This can't be happening."

2 MONTHS LATER (i love timeskips :3 )

"Momoe?!" Kaoru yelled outside of the abyss that used to be his house. "MOMOE!" 

Nobody responded.

"I guess I'll just have to find her myself.", Kaoru said dejected.

Neiru was dead.

Her friend, who she had eaten burgers with, had murdered a crazy red haired robot bitch with, and had bought her and her other friends really expensive college scholarships (Rika was probably never gonna use hers, though) was dead.

Her second best friend, after Koito, was dead, just a memory to remember.

Ai was about to dramatically scream in sadness when all of a sudden, Neiru appeared behind a random police officer.

"Nothing personal, kid."

The gore that ensued would probably change the rating of this fic if I described it, but it wasn't pretty at all.


Ai stared at Neiru in awe, immediately forgetting the emotional trauma that she would have if Neiru actually died.

"Woahh, her body count just went way up!"

Rika used her crutches to get to where Ai was.


"How does she even cheat death like that, she should have die-"

"Shh. Just let the fanfiction writer do what they want with their story."

"Ai, this story has enough fourth wall breaks as it is, can you at least tone it dow-"

Rika was hit by a bus.

2 MONTHS LATER

Kaoru walked around the debris that used to be the town where he lived.

"God, finding Momoe is gonna be hard if I can't even identify most of the landmarks here."

They decided to check if their phone worked, but it had no signal, making it basically useless.

"What even happened while I was gone.." Kaoru said, hoping for a flashback.

2 MONTHS EARLIER

Momoe knocked on Kaoru's house, but nobody answered.

"Guess his parents aren't here."

After 2 weeks of searching for Kaoru, Momoe was starting to give up.

"I mean if he came back, it's not like he'd suddenly like me again or anything. I mean, I'd be perfectly fine if once he came back and we'd just be friends or something." Momoe said to herself, out loud.

Suddenly her phone vibrated. Momoe hoped it was Kaoru.

It was AI instead.

"Crap, I almost forgot about my other friends."

Momoe was wrong, she hadn't interacted with her friends since Chapter 1 at least.

She answered the phone.

"Ai-"

"It's Rika! She got hit by a bus. I don't think she's gonna be ok this time! Also Neirumurderered 200 police officers, but that's not important. Just come over to the hospital that everyone conveniently goes to!"

Ai hung up.

She stared at Rika, hoping she would survive.

2 MONTHS LATER

Kaoru was humming to "Nobody" by Mitski, while walking to Momoe's house.

He decided to go to Ai's house after, and maybe Neiru's job place thing.

Going to Rika's house wasn't a option.

Kaoru knocked on Momoe's door.

"Please be there, please be there, please be ther-"

"KAORU!"

Momoe immediately hugged Kaoru.

"Oh my god, I thought you were dead! Especially after (SPOILER EVENT)!"

"What?"

"Koito, what's your favorite type of anime?"

Ai had asked this question during lunch break. She had watched a unhealthy amount of anime and wanted to know if her friend had similar taste.

"It doesn't really matter what kind of plot happens, just if it's like a sad anime where everyone dies at the end. Just like me."

"Whaa..."

"I'm dead, Ai."

Ai immediately woke the fuck up.

She was in Rika's hospital room.

Momoe wasn't there, as she was still looking for Kaoru. Ai wondered if Kaoru was ever gonna come back. He disappeared just after he had broken up with Momoe, as she told her the last time they talked to each other.

That was 1 week ago.

Was Momoe avoiding Ai on purpose?

Were they not going to be friends anymore and just drift apart out of nowhere like in some really dumb anime finale?

Ai decided her brain needed to stop speaking bitch for a few minutes.

2 months later i think

"So, basically (Spoiler Event)) happened, and now the world is some post-apocalyptic nightmare?!" Kaoru told Momoe, confused at how the plot somehow managed to make more sense than the actual finale of the show.

"Yeah, pretty much."

"I'm gonna go back to 2 months earlier via the timeskip which is going to be below me, I assume." Kaoru hoped for a reverse timeskip immediately after saying this.

back to the present day

Ai looked out the window, expecting to see something that wasn't the fabric of time and space warping."WHAT THE FUCK!"

Kaoru then appeared in Rika's hospital room.

"oh hi Ai."

Suddenly, the ceiling collapsed and everyone died.








Well, not everyone died.

Momoe sighed and looked at her only alive friend.

"Neiru, why did you tell me about timelines just as everyone died right in front of us?"

Before Momoe could even anticipate a reply, Neiru switched the timeline.

Ai suddenly woke up, as if after 3 months of the universe being frozen in time, existence resumed out of nowhere.

"Oh crap, that was a weird dream." She sighed and checked the groupchat that was currently named "eggchat"

sunflower_feelings: hey guys I think something weird happened last night

youwatanabesimp07: I mean considering the fact that every single night for the past 5 weeks, we have been saving dead teens from their trauma, just so we can bring back our dead "friends" even though they probably want to stay dead, I'm pretty sure that every night is weird now.

That was weird. Rika usually only typed long messages when she was at school. Unless Ai forgot today was a Monday, but that couldn't possibly be true-

sunflower_feelings: OH SHIT IM LATE FOR CLASS BECAUSE I FORGOT TODAY WAS A MONDAY

neiru_aonuma: lol couldn't be me you #Lbozo 🤣😂 I don't attend classes. 😌

Momoe2006: bruh 😐😑😐

Momoe was coincidentally also late for class, they probably deserved it for staying up until 4 am. But it wasn't her fault that she couldn't sleep because Rika's rants about cursed Love Live dvd's made them extremely paranoid.

4 minutes later, Momoe arrived at class just in time to see everyone leaving. 

Debra, one of the students in Momoe's class yelled something to her.

"SCHOOL GOT CANCELLED BECAUSE SOMEONE TRIED BURNING A CHAIR IN MR. LASTNAME'S CLASS!" 

"Debra, I'm literally right in front of you."

"What."

Ai decided to skip school altogether, her grades were already shit anyways so it wouldn't matter whether she went to school or not.

She reached into her bag and grabbed one of the eggs inside it. She looked at the writing engraved into it.

"75‡(?"

"I wonder if this means anything."

Out of literally nowhere, a car drove straight into a nearby traffic light, which just so happened to fall in front of Ai. 

"Woah, I almost died for the 32nd time this week."

Suddenly the car's front door opened, and somebody came out. Ai couldn't see who they were until they slowly realized who was in front of them.

"Wait.. You're me?"

"Wait.. You're me?"

The blue haired woman looked at Ai

"who the fuck even are you?"

Ai watched the random stranger who kinda looked like her run away from the crash site. Ai felt as if she had expected something and got nothing instead. Then again, what did she even really expect from a cliffhanger that was implied to involve multiple versions of the same person? Maybe that worked in comics and shows, but this was real life. None of that would even be possible.

She had nothing else to do here, so she also walked away. Unbeknownst to her, she had forgotten her bag.

After a few hours of aimless walking, Ai finally ended up back at her own house.

She opened the door to her room and laid on her bed, trying to think about something, anything. Her memories had just felt increasingly disconnected lately and everything just felt empty.. 

Ai took out her phone and checked the group chat for any new messages.

Momoe2006: rika she's probably just at school learning stuff unlike you who just randomly texts the gc corny and pretentious paragraphs bc you're failing all of your classes and nobody at your school even likes you

YouWatanabeStan07: its been 5 hours school has definently ended for Ai do you guys know where she is?!?!?!

Momoe2006: rika its literally 2 pm 🤦♀️

Ai glanced at the clock in her room. It was currently 6:21 PM. She scrolled further through the messages. It was kinda weird how Neiru hadn't said anything at all after the message she sent in the morning.

6:22 pm

YouWatanabeStan07: im so fucking bored why dont we just go to somewhere cool like that one bowling arcade combo place

Momoe2006: k.. but where?!?

neiru_aonuma: I would advise against going to McDonalds. Ai might ruin your experience there.

Shit. Did Neiru really have to say that? From her POV, their date at McDonalds was fine.. Did Neiru not like it? Did Ai accidentally make Neiru feel uncomfortable with her rants about how Breaking Bad is the greatest show of all time and how the entire show is actually an allegory for purgatory? Ai almost threw her phone out the window, which would totally be out of character for her if she did. She instead placed her phone on the nightstand and cried herself to sleep.

Ai woke up in the void again. They assumed that this was where she went whenever she forgot to buy an egg. But wait, didn't she have an entire-

FUCK. SHE LEFT HER BAG AT THE CRASH SITE...

She would've gone back to where she left it, but she was currently in a dream.. And it's not like dream teleportation is a thing...

Suddenly, Ai overheard a nearby conversation. She got up and ran over to where she heard it from.

"Neiru? What the fuck? Why did you literally keep me stuck here?!" A voice yelled out, one that Ai thought sounded like Momoe.

"Momoe. Don't accuse me of that. I've been stuck here for just as long as you have." Neiru's monotone voice echoed throughout the space.

This conversation was strange. It felt serious yet surreal. Dreamy but also mundane.. Ai ran out of comparisons she could use, so she just ran towards Neiru, who seemed like the Neiru she knew, her girlfriend, who purposely sent corny messages because she thought it was amusing.

"Neiru!"

"Ai!" A small smile appeared on Neiru's face. She walked to Ai. Momoe stared at both of them, shocked and confused. 

Just as Ai finally reached out a hand, she catapulted forward into reality, her arm still stretched out.

Her head spun around, wondering if what just happened was real. But she realized that didn't really matter. Ai now knew what she needed to do.

She grabbed her phone and began running outside. Normally Ai's mom would stop her, but by now she had gotten used to her daughter running outside at random. Ai quickly texted the groupchat,

Momoe2006: k.. but where?!?

neiru_aonuma: I would advise against going to McDonalds. Ai might ruin your experience there.

rika!! love live era no more: neiru didnt you literally text all of us that you and ai's date there was the best thing you've ever experienced in your life

Momoe2006: rika's right for once!

neiru_aonuma: We have never dated.

Momoe2006: neiru you aren't funny, maybe this is why Ai hasn't been talking to anyone!

sunflower_feelings: GUYS I JUST FOUND THE PERFECT PLACE WHERE WE CAN ALL JUST TOTALLY HANG OUT TOGETHER JUST THE 4 OF US

Ok.. Maybe Ai shouldn't have typed that fast. One, she sounded incredibly suspicious. Two, she sounded fucking crazy. Whatever, she needed to get this over with. Despite telling herself she knew what she was doing, she literally had no idea what she was doing. She was coming up with this plan on the spot.

6:26 pm

sunflower_feelings: MCDONALDS GUYS! MEET ME THERE!

neiru_aounuma: ...

There wasn't anything off about the McDonalds. It was just an average, ordinary McDonalds. Rika, Momoe, and Neiru all thought it was weird how Ai had suddenly decided this was the best possible place for all of them to meet up, although all of them had separate reasons. Rika thought it was weird because Ai usually only went to McDonalds on days she considered special, Momoe thought it was strange that Ai would do all of this out of nowhere, and Neiru thought it was weird because Ai never did something like this in the other timelines.

They all sat there silently eating the food Momoe paid for, as if waiting for something interesting to happen. Then something interesting did happen. Ai attempted to run inside the McDonalds, only to slam head first into the door. As she got up, Momoe swore she heard Ai mumble something about doors that look like they should be pushed, but can't.

"Okay, guys." Ai quickly threw her now wet bag onto the table, causing it to almost break. "This might be shocking news... But I think there's alternate versions of us out there..."

Rika spit out her drink and Momoe began to choke on a fry. Neiru didn't have a similar reaction, because she already knew about this.

"Okay, so I left my bag somewhere, and so when I went to sleep. I ended up in this weird void area... And it was crazy.. I saw another version of you Momoe..."

Momoe blinked. "You did?"

Ai smiled and nodded excitedly, despite the fact that she was currently explaining all of this on 3 minutes of sleep.

"Oh, I just remembered.." Ai put her hand to her chin, in an attempt to look intelligent. "You were there too. Neiru.. You and Momoe were arguing over being trapped somewhere..."

Rika suddenly stood up. "Wait, Ai? Was I also there?!" Her eyes shone as she smiled for the first time in 7 chapters.

Ai blankly stared at Rika. "No, I think your alternate self was probably dead or comatose or something.. Moving on, I think I know who might be responsible for this.." Ai glanced over at Neiru, her finger slowly lifting into the air.

Neiru froze. Maybe she underestimated this version of Ai. Maybe she was actually capable of figuring out the truth.. She had to know, it was clearly so obvious..

"It was YOU!"

Ai pointed at who she currently thought was responsible for all of this.

"W-what?" The cashier working there stood there, awkwardly. Neiru recognized them as the same cashier from the last timeline. It seemed that no matter what, it was certain that Ai would ruin this random person's day somehow.

Ai jumped onto the table, which was now beginning to crack. "You're the one who trapped the other Momoe and Neiru. You used your part-time job as a shield to hide the truth from everyone! WELL TOO BAD! It didn't work! Everybody knows you're guilty, you bi-" 

Ai suddenly passed out, presumably because the adrenaline wore off. She landed onto the table, which finally broke, causing her to hit her head on the hard floor.

Rika and Momoe quickly ran over to Ai, who was bleeding everywhere. They both shook Ai violently until she finally woke up again. "Ai, snap out of it!" "We know this isn't the real you!" 

Ai's eyes opened twice. She suddenly gasped. "Oh my god. I just remembered something.."

Chapter Text

Momoe and Rika gasped in shock. They quickly looked at each other, before looking back at Ai.

"What the fuck?!"

Ai pushed herself off of the ground.

"I remember now.." She looked around, only to notice Neiru quickly booking it out of the McDonalds. She shrugged and went back to explaining everything.

Neiru dived out of the McDonalds.

She started running. Time was running out. She had to do something quick, before everyone found out the truth. If she didn't reach Japan Plati in the next 5 minutes, the timeline would collapse.. 

She quickly ran through several alleyways, and began climbing onto buildings and doing several flips like she was Spider-Man if he was a rich billionaire who lied about the multiverse. If she kept this up, she would make it there before Ai finished explaining everything that happened in the last timeline.

"Wait, so you're saying there's another timeline.. And these alternate versions of us came from that timeline?" Momoe asked, somehow having processed all of the events of the first seven chapters as something that followed the laws of reality.

3 minutes had passed since Neiru suddenly left.

"Momoe, don't be so stupid.. We're talking about our Neiru.. I know because she was wearing the Fortnite pin I made for her!" Ai smiled happily, remembering fond memories that probably didn't happen.

"The one with 'Ai Fortniet' written on it in all caps?" Rika blurted out while trying not to laugh.

"Let's just stay on topic, Rika."

"Anyways, Other Neiru trapped Other Momoe and Neiru into the Egg Void because the Other Timeline collapsed after everything that happened in it!"

Ai exhaled for the first time since she had begun talking about timelines.

"That's all I know at least..."

She looked down at the tiled floor.. Something felt missing..

"Maybe I'm missing something.. Like an egg I forgot to break..."

Rika quickly ran up to Ai. "Wait, Ai. Maybe if you fall off a table again.. You'll get memories from another timeline!" 

Momoe gasped as Rika's suggestion. Not because it was a good idea, since it fucking sucked.

Before anyone else could do anything, Rika climbed onto a table, pulled Ai up, and shoved her off as Clarity played in the background.

Ai's jaw dropped as a result shock and betrayal. How could Rika do this to her.. She's supposed to be her friend, right?

Well, not anymore. She remembered when she first met Rika in that egg place.. She seemed so different.. Back then, Ai would have never thought of things happening like this... 

Ai slowly closed her eyes as she accepted her fate.

The last thing she heard before she hit the ground was the sound of something snapping.

Almost immediately afterwards, Ai shot up. 

"Guys, guess what! I just remembered something!"

Momoe and Rika looked at Ai, waiting for her to explain something.

"Wait.." Ai suddenly grasped her head. This memory... It seemed so dumb in retrospect.. She had no idea why this specific memory was so important.. She didn't really get how this was supposed to relate to her current situation except for the part about-

Oh.

Oh.

Ai quickly grabbed her bag and began running.

"MOMOE! RIKA! WE NEED TO GET TO JAPAN PLATI ASAP!"

A few months earlier, Ai was watching Neiru as she left their usual meeting place.

"Wait, Neiru!"

Neiru turned around to face Ai.

"Yes, Ai?"

"How many eggs are left? Before you finish the game?"

She smiled gently. "Just one. Then my sister will be back, just like Koito, Chiemi, and Haruka.." 

It was silent at Japan Plati. The lobby was empty, and so was most of the building. Nobody was there except for Kotobuki..

She smiled. This was a room nobody else knew except for them. This was where the timeline could be rewritten again.

She heard the noise of the door being unlocked. She quickly stopped what she was doing and turned around.

"Oh, hey Airu."

After a long 13 minutes, 3/4 of the Egg Squad were finally at Tokyo Plati. Neiru would've probably been there too if she weren't in some weird void.

"Well guys, we finally made it!"

Ai stepped back a few steps, turned around and began crouching down.

Rika glanced at Momoe. "I think she's finally snapped."

Ai suddenly flew up into the air and into the room Airu and Kotobuki were in.

"AIRU, WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU. WHY WOULD YOU TRAP PEOPLE IN YOUR WEIRD TIMELINE VOID?"

Before Airu or Kotobuki could respond, Ai pulled out a gun. This could have been any gun, but it probably fit this story very well, just like the random references from the first half.

"FREE NEIRU OR YOU'LL BE FREE TO ROT SIX FEET UNDER!"

"Ai, what the fuck."

"RIKA! I TOLD YOU TO STOP RUInINg aLL OF My BAdAsS moMENTS!!" Ai threw the gun at Kotobuki, knocking her out instantly.

All of a sudden, the room began rotating.

Ai smirked. "Good thing we're both good at Tetris, right Rika?"

Rika disappeared into nothing.

"Airu, why would you do this to Neiru! You even gaslighted Neiru into believing she was an AI!"

"You're wrong, I'm not Airu... I'm actually.. Neiru..."

The shock of the plot twist being revealed to not be a plot twist caused the room to implode.

Everyone died, the end.

Actually, none of that happened.

"Because, I'm the AI!"

Momoe gasped, realizing it all made perfect sense. "Airu was the AI all along.. Her name literally has AI in it. She's named AIru for a reason, Ai!"

Ai could only stare at her hands, realizing that she might not be as human as she thought.

Chapter Text

After a few months, the egg void had become more like an egg home. At least, that's what Momoe thought.

The liquid seemed to ripple every once in a while.

Momoe looked over at Neiru, who definitely was not the Neiru from the universe she knew. Apparently, Momoe's universe, the forty-ninth according to Neiru, was in a state of limbo. Apparently, Neiru had never come back from her egg. Airu had taken her place at some point in time, and then the world collapsed almost immediately afterwards.

Momoe assumed it had something to do with the whole YouTube thing.

"Do you blame yourself?"

Momoe realized that somehow she'd stared off into space while being surrounded by it. 

"Uh, what?"

"Do you blame yourself for not saving Kaoru?"

The question rippled in her head, frozen moments of time repeating endlessly. Something seemed to crack.

"I'm gonna go back to 2 months earlier via the timeskip which is going to be below me, I assume."

Momoe realized what Kaoru was about to do. 

"KAORU, NO!"

But it was too late, and Kaoru was gone.

Soon, she was gone too.

"Neiru, you know I would've tried to stop him from going back even if it would doom our universe! I got him back twice, and I failed him every time. I've lost him three times!"

"Momoe, you didn't know what would happen to him. It wasn't your fault."

"But it was.."

Momoe started to cry for the first time in what felt like years. "I knew what was going to happen! I knew he went back to that hospital room! And I know he died there!"

"You don't know that."

Momoe looked over at Neiru. 

"What if I told you there was a way you could still save him, Momoe?"

"Save.. Kaoru?"

"Not just Kaoru.. Everyone."

MEANWHILE, IN THE CURRENT UNIVERSE

"I'm not.. I'm NOT AN A.I!" Ai's back hit the wall. This couldn't be happening.. She was normal.. She wasn't.. She wasn't an AI.. She was human... Right? A tiny bit of doubt formed in her head.

Ai screamed. 

"Ai, wait!" Momoe ran towards her. "You're not an AI just because your name is Ai!

Ai's tears dripped onto the ground. "B-BUT.. My name... It has Ai in it.. And Airu's name has AI in it too..."

Kotobuki facepalmed.  "Ai, Airu isn't an AI because her name has AI in it. She's an AI because Japan Plati needed a way to cover up the disappearance of the original Airu!"

"What?" Ai's eyes widened. 

Momoe seemed to be lost in thought, before realizing something. "That makes a lot of sense, actual-

Momoe disappeared into thin air.

The EGG VOID home

"There's an gap between both of our universes. Two, actually.. We're currently trapped in one of them." Neiru explained, as the water around the eggvoid seemed to be sinking into the floor again, a vibrant blue pin floating in the shallow liquid.

The original Momoe simply nodded, despite not getting any of this at all.

"So, what's the other one?"

"The other one is where all of your friends are stuck in. Momoe, we need to find a way to free everyone in that gap.."

As Neiru's exposition continued, Momoe started to reminisce of the days when all she worried about was Kaoru's opinion about her YouTube channel. Ah, those were the days.

"How do you know all of this, Neiru?"

Neiru took a deep breath, and then began explaining something that could be easily skipped and probably contradicted a lot of the previous developments in this fanfiction.

"I did an entire research paper on this. However, Airu ended up trapping me in this strange place once she found out I knew the truth. The reason you weren't left behind after finding out the truth was because when Airu chose to exit your timeline, she thought that you would be gone too. However, there is another reason why you were initially spared. You see, when that hospital and everything around it collapsed. It wasn't because Kaoru went back in time.. It was because of what happened immediately after.  You see, Kaoru, Rika, and Ai were all actually teleported into the gap by Airu. However, three people getting teleported at the exact same split second is something that is not supposed to happen in any universe. This unnatural event caused your universe to end up a destroyed mess. The only reason you were the sole survivor was because Kaoru needed to go back in time in order to be involved with the destruction of the universe in the first place. But don't worry, all of your friends are still alive, in fact."

Momoe took a few moments to process all of this.

Out of nowhere, there was a loud splash in the egg void. Momoe could recognize that red jacket anywhere.

"Rika?"

Rika stood up, ready to do basically nothing for another 10 chapters. "Oh my god, this is just like that movie... The Ring.." 

This was nothing like The Ring.

Neiru smiled.

"Rika, can you tell which one of us is from your universe?"

"Uh, I don't know.. I mean TRICK QUESTION! BOTH OF YOU ARE FROM THE SAME UNIVERSE!"

Neiru instinctively facepalmed. "Rika, this Momoe is from a completely different universe.."

Suddenly, the last person anyone would expect to show up.. showed up..

"You're both wrong, actually."

"FRILL?!"

Normally, this would be where the chapter would abruptly end, with an incredibly shocking cliffhanger. However, nobody reads this fic, so I don't have to give a fuck anymore.

Frill laughed, not giving a shit.

"Well, Rika may be right.." Rika's eyes beamed. Finally, she was worthy of something! "But her method is from all the wrong places.." Rika's face instantly contorted into a saddened frown. "You see, all of you are from the same universe.. However, Airu initated what she thought was a timeline reset, causing all of you to become drastically different people. None of you are like your opposite versions. Momoe has probably changed the least.." Frill thought for a moment. "I don't think Rika changed at all, actually. But all this timeline shit is boring.. You must all be wondering, 'Wait, didn't we all defeat you?'.. Well you're wrong! Ya only sent me here! Well anyways, we don't need to save your friends, Momoe! Because they're actually all go-"

"They aren't gone, Frill. Just trapped in a mysterious area."

"Come on, Neiru.. I'm an AI, I'm way smarter than you, There's no way I can possibly be wrong!"

Another Momoe appeared in the egg void, proving everyone wrong.

Momoe1 looked at Momoe2. Suddenly, they merged. Momoe looked at her hands, which were exactly the same.

"Wow, it's like nothing changed at all."

"You just regained your memories!"

Momoe looked over at Rika. Suddenly, both sets of her memories clicked together, like the broken shells of an egg..

"Like Ai?"

"Yeah, totally! And with none of the head trauma."

Neiru looked horrified.
