It had been a few weeks since you joined the Mandalorian on the Razor Crest; and it’s been…exciting, to say the least. You met when he stopped on your planet for supplies. You helped him out, even helped to repair some damage to his ship, the Razor Crest. While he was there, you took a shining to his companion, the small green child, and the child took a liking to you.

After a short time, some bounty hunters showed up to try and take the child. You didn’t know why they showed up, but you didn’t care, you would protect the child as well as you could. No bounty could make you go against that.

You were crouched behind what used to be your kitchen counter as the child whined in fear, your arms gripped tightly around him. The Mandalorian was next to you firing his weapon at the bounty hunters. Your eyes went to a chest-box you had nearby, your fathers weapons were in there. Looking at the Mandalorian, you knew you had no choice but to help, you were both stuck here. Moving, you set the child against the counter and spoke to him, earning the attention of the Mandalorian “Stay here, don’t move, I’ll come back, I promise.” As the child stared up into your eyes, his small hand reaching out to you, you reached out your pinky. The child stared at your hand for a moment before reaching his own out and wrapping one of his small fingers around your pinky. Something you taught him in the time you had been alone with him.

Glancing at the Mandalorian, who was eyeing you, you nodded “Cover me” before quickly moving to dive behind the nearby wall to get to the chest. As parts of the wall fell down above you, you quickly grabbed the chest and opened it, as the Mandalorian continued to fire at the bounty hunters.

Rummaging through the chest, you grabbed a gun and fired at the bounty hunters, successfully taking out one of them before noticing a small round object you recognized as a bomb in the chest. Grabbing it and pressing the button, it began to beep rapidly as you thew the object towards the bounty hunters. Only a moment passed before it exploded. Hearing some screams from the bounty hunters, you wondered how many you got. This caused a big enough distraction that the Mandalorian rose and made his way towards them, finishing them off as you ran to the child.

After finally defeating the bounty hunters, the Mandalorian was grateful for your hope. And knowing that you were useful around a ship, a decent fighter, and since your home had now been destroyed by the bounty hunters, he offered you a space on his ship, for as long as you needed, or wanted.

As you broke from your memory of that time a few weeks ago when you met, you looked at the Mandalorian, as he sat silently in his pilots seat, before looking down at the child who was asleep in your arms. You felt your chest tighten at the thought of having to part with him. You had grown so fond of him, and there was a fondness for the quiet Mandalorian as well. He was growing on you, and you had a feeling you were growing on him as well. He grew to trust you enough to tell you why the child was being hunted, and how the Mandalorian became his guardian. Though you didn’t say it, you had become determined to help him in his quest. Though, you were unsure how long he would want you around.

Stopping at another small planet to get some supplies, there were some particular ship parts you needed to find. Standing in front of a cantina you turned to the Mandalorian “I’m going to go get some parts.”

He nodded his head at you “We’ll be here.”

As you turned to leave you heard a desperate coo, making you spin back around. The child, who had been sitting in the Mandalorians bag was reaching towards you, a sort of fear in his eyes, before he looked up at the Mandalorian.

“What is it?” you asked as you walked back over, crouching down.

“I…” the Mandalorian began, as you looked up at him “I think he thinks you are leaving us- uh, him.”

You looked at the child and smiled “I’ll be back I promise” you said as you reached out and patted his head. The child cooed slightly before he reached out his finger to you. Staring at it for a moment you chuckled, reaching out your pinky and intertwined it with his finger.“There, see? Now I have to come back right?”

Standing you smiled at the child once more before meeting the dark visor of the Mandalorian and turning to leave. Unaware of how long the Mandalorian stood there and watched you as you disappeared in the crowd.

Time had moved slowly over the last week as you traveled with the Mandalorian and the child. Din, whose name you finally learned, was taking you to a planet called Tatooine to get some damage on the ship repaired that you were unable to finish. You were sitting with the child, talking at him as he babbled in response. You couldn’t literally understand him, but you had developed your own sort of language.

Unaware that Din had been watching you, you were caught off guard when you heard him clear his throat. Looking up you see him staring down at you. “Something wrong?” you asked.

“Uh, no, I was just…curious about something.”

“Curious about what?”

Taking a step closer, he moved to sit on the ground along with you and the child “What does it mean?” he asked as he reached out his hand.

You chuckled when you noticed he had stuck out his pinky. “It’s a promise.”

“What?”

You stuck out your hand and pinky “A pinky promise. When someone makes a promise or tells you they will do something, you link pinkies” you said as you reached out, wrapping your pink around Din’s “It seals the promise and means that you can’t break it.”

He stared down at your hands “A pinky promise…I see. Is it only for serious promises? Vows?”

“Not necessarily, it came be for anything really.” You replied as you slowly took your hand away from his.

“Interesting.” He said as he looked from his hand over at the child “And he understands?”

“I believe so.” You said as you looked at the child as well, who was staring at the two of you “He seems to grasp it’s importance.”

“That might become useful.” Din muttered before he stood back up “We’ll be at Tatooine in about an hour.” He said as he left, you watched him go, a small smile on your face.

Another week, another stop on a random planet. You took a deep breath as you looked around the colorful market. You bought a few more items before you began to make your way back to the Razor Crest. You had begun to enjoy the various planets you visited in your time with Din and the child, but you always had a sense of unease surrounding you. Especially at times like this, when you were out in the open.

That unease and paranoia seemed to grow as you continued around the market, a unusual feeling sending chills up your neck. Peaking behind you, you noticed a hooded figure, someone you remember seeing earlier as well. As you rounded a corner, you watched your reflection in a nearby building, seeing that the figure was watching you, and definitely following you.

Figuring it was another bounty hunter, you began to move quicker, weaving your way through the market and different buildings. As you made your way through the town, you noticed more people watching you closely. After heading down an alley, you made your way towards the port, where the Razor Crest was.

Your eyes caught on a familiar figure walking through a crowd. Din seemed to spot you at the same time as you moved towards him. Immediately noticing you were out of breath and slightly panicked he looked around “What happened?”

“I was being followed, I think it might be another bounty hunter.” You said quietly as you looked around “Tall, wearing a dark hooded robe, but I have a feeling there is more than one.”

His movement was small, but you could tell the Mandalorian was now peering through the crowds “Alright, lets get back to the Razor Crest.” He reached out, placing his hand on your shoulder as he began to escort you to the ship.

Seeing a figure step out from behind a building, you recognized it as the figure from earlier. As he began to pull out a gun you turned and pushed Din “Look out”

As you both dove behind a nearby cart a blast went off as the alien began firing at you. Running around the cart, Din handed you the child as he fired his weapon back towards the bounty hunter.

Seeing another alien jump out from a different building, you saw him aim at you. Grabbing a small gun from Din’s belt, you fired at the alien, killing him. Din looked back, seeing what had happened before he reached down and grabbed your arm, pulling along as you ran behind nearby ships, civilians running and yelling all around you.

As you hid behind a large pile of crates Din yelled to you “I’ll cover you as you run to the Razor Crest, get in, close the doors.”

“What about you?”

“I’ll take the bounty hunters.”

“But you don’t know how many there are!”

“You need to keep the child safe, and I need to keep you both safe!”

You stared at him for a moment, his words seeming to take you by surprise. Looking to the Razor Crest you looked back, packing out from the crates, now noticing multiple bounty hunters. You knew he would allow you to get to the ship safely, but you fears he may be out numbered. You looked at Din, who, through his helmet you could tell was staring at you. You nodded your head “You’ll be carefuly though right?”

He nodded before he began to turn away, reaching out you pull on his arm, making him look back at you. You reached out you hand and stuck out your pinky “Right?”.

He stared at it for a moment before he reached out his pinky as well, intertwining it with yours “Right. Now go.” He said as he stepped out from the crates, firing at the bounty hunters and gaining their attention.

As he began firing at the bounty hunters, you turned and began running for the Razor Crest, the child pressing firmly against you as you held him tightly. As you ran, you felt laser fire seem to brush past you as the bounty hunters saw you, but you kept going, knowing that Din was there to stop them.

Getting into the Razor Crest, you looked back to see Din fighting one on three with some bounty hunters as you closed the ship doors. Hurrying, you put the child in his bunk before closing the door.

After a second of relief, after getting the child to safety, you gasped and spun around as you noticed a reflection of someone behind you in the bunk door. As you spun around the figure fired their weapon at you. Piercing the top of your shoulder you cried out before you grabbed a nearby tool and chucked it at the man. As he dodged it you threw yourself towards them, grabbing their arm and slamming it down on your knee, making them drop their weapon before you punched them in the face.

The man quickly grabbed you and threw you to the ground before he wrapped his hands around your neck. As you struggled to breath, you reached out, scratching the mans face. He groaned in pain but only tightened his grip.

Looking to your left, you notice a cutting torch lying by a toolbox. Quickly reaching out you turning the torch on and brought it to the mans face, burning him. As he screamed, you managed to push him away from you before grabbing his weapon and firing it at him, killing him. Before you could catch your breath you saw a figure appear in your peripheral. Turning your weapon on them, you gasped as you saw Din lift his hands in defense.

You dropped the gun as you continued to breath heavily, reaching for your throat as you leaned against the wall. Din rushed to you, kneeling down in front of you “Y/n” he said somewhat quietly as he noticed both the wound to your shoulder and the red marks around your throat.

“I’m alright” you breathed out “And so is the kid.” You said quickly adding on as you reached up and tapped on the door, signalling that he was in the bunk. “We should get out of here.”

Din nodded his head, but hesitated before he stood. Grabbing the man you had killed, he drug him towards the doors to throw out. You closed your eyes as you leaned your head back, taking a few deep breaths as you tried to calm down.

Hearing Din get rid of the mans body before making his way up to the cabin, you felt a greater sense of relief as the ship started. Hearing a few small taps from inside the bunk, you opened your eyes again. Turning, you opened the bunk, revealing the child. “Hey there.” you said quietly to him “You alright?”

He cooed and seemed to nod before he noticed the blood on you. Reaching towards the wound, you stopped him “It’s okay, you don’t need to worry about that.” The child cooed as he looked into your eyes, seemingly upset.

Hearing Din coming back down, you turned to look at him. Walking past you, he grabbed a box from a nearby shelf and walked back to you. Kneeling down in front of you he gently grabbed your uninjured shoulder and began to turn you “Let me see.”

Turning fully towards him, he began to look at the wound “It’s just a surface wound.” He said, relief in his voice as he opened up the small box and pulled out some bandages and medicinal cream.

As he began to clean and bandage your wound, he spoke after a few moments “I’m sorry you got caught up in all this. It happened back on your planet and now here.”

You stared at his covered face “It’s alright. I always wanted a more exciting life.” you said with a soft smile.

“I would say it’s more dangerous than exciting.”

You paused “Dangerous can be exciting.”

He stayed silent for a moment “I- I think…it might be best if I take you somewhere else. A nice planet where you can start over.”

You felt your chest tighten “Why?”

“You didn’t ask for any of this and I just…I..don’t want to get you killed. So I think it would be best if you…left”

You felt a sense of desperation as you wanted to beg him to let you stay. But you stopped yourself and took a deep breath before continuing, quietly. “Do you want me to go?”

He finished bandaging your shoulder before he sighed and sat down fully, resting his arms on his knees “I…no. I don’t. But I don’t want to see you get killed.”

You stared at the dark parts of his helmet, to where you hoped his eyes were “What if I don’t want to go?”

“I wont make you. But, you need to understand that this, that life on this ship…with me and the kid, it’ll get more dangerous.”

“I already assumed that. I-” you paused “I already decided a while ago that I was going to stay. If you let me that is.”

He nodded lightly, figuring you were determined “If it gets dicey, I’ll understand if you want to leave.”

“I wont.” you quickly responded.

“You wont leave?” he asked, as if clarifying for his own sake.

“I won’t leave.” You repeated.

He seemed to stare at you for a moment before he slowly reached out his hand, sticking out his pinky. You stared at his hand for a moment before a smile spread across your face. Reaching out, you linked your pinky with his before you looked back at him, sealing the promise that you will stay with him and the child.
