Chapter Text
”Hey, Ina! Check out this neat trick! ” Moony yelled excitedly as she showed a certain polygon girl a skateboard trick she had recently learned . Ena smiled sheepishly before going back to her worried glancing at the small crowd around them. Moony picked the skateboard up and folded it into the gap in her face for later skateboard use.
“Look, there aren't alot of people here yet,” Moony said, attempting to somewhat calm her friend's nerves.
“What idiots! Getting to the Great Runas is going to be a breeze. If you get what I'm saying!” She continued. Moony paused, waiting for Ena’s response to her confusing ‘pun’. Ena stayed silent for a moment before looking up at her with a stressed expression.
“I wanna go home! I don’t wike this pawty..” Ena said, practically crying. ”Can we PWEASE go now? I’m allwegic to people!”
Moony let out an exaggerated sigh. “Ena, c’mon this is supposed to be fun! I can finally make my wish today! What the hell are you so worried about?”
Ena shook her head, she clearly didn't want to talk about it. Moony gave her a stubborn look as she crossed her arms to think. She really did want to go with Ena to the Great Runas and grant her friend a wish, but why go without her. Of course she could always go by herself, but what fun would that be? And besides, Moony wanted to see the face Ena made after she granted her wish.
“Alright then..” She trailed off as she thought. Moony’s eyes lit up as an idea formed.
“Hey I just had the bestest idea- We can make a bet,” She exclaimed excitedly. “Whoever gets up to the Great Runas AND makes their wish first has to pay the debts of the loser!”
Ena stared in shock, as if she already knew she wouldn't be able to beat Moony there.
“Pay youwr debts? That sownds awful!! Do I have to?” Ena sighed. Moony’s smile faltered after hearing her friend in a now seemingly worse mood than what she was in before.
“Oh c’mon don’t give me that look..! It could be fun.We just have to-” Moony was cut off as loud thudding began. More mannequin-like figures began to storm in with the booming noise, pushing right past Ena and Moony.
“Ugh, rude!” Moony cried as she shoved the closest mannequins away from her.
The mannequins savagely rushed through one another, desperately clawing through the crowd . Moony and Ena observed for a moment, realizing this event had grown more violent than what they had expected. The friends had heard some bits of information about the event that took place during the arrival of the Great Runas. Mostly that the people who attended tend to be rude and brush past, and some even violent. But they hadn’t expected for all the attendees to all be this aggressive.
“What in the Great Runas is going on?” Ena’s yellow face shreeked. “Evweything has gone to chaos!!” Her blue side finished.
It wasn’t long before a large explosion and dust filled the air, blinding all attendees in the proximity. Moony coughed as she swung her arms attempting to clear out the air around her, with little success.
“Ena!” Moony wheezed out. “Are you okay??”
A wave of panic washed over the moon as she realized her friend was missing; Ena had gotten lost in the smoke. Out of pure fear, Moony ran further into the smoke.
‘Where could she have gone so quickly?’ Moony thought, her mind was racing. ‘What if one of those stupid mannequins got to her? What if Ena’s hurt?’ And as if on queue, Moony’s train of thought was interrupted by loud screaming. Ena’s screaming. Moony rushed over without any thought, shuffling around any of the mannequins she had met with. The air seemed to clear up. Was she close to the edge of the smoke? Maybe Ena had run away from the scene and was okay. But why is she screaming? Although Moony could see a bit better now, she couldn’t figure out where Ena was. Moony’s head turned in all directions until she saw a faint glimpse of blue and yellow.
“Ena!” Moony cried. Moony rushed towards the girl as fast as she could, tripping over herself as she ran towards her. Moony could see Ena’s leaning over, hands over her face and shaking. She was crying.
Was she hurt? Maybe she was right and a mannequin did attack her. But Ena seemed fairly unscathed from what Moony saw from the smoke. As she came closer to the polygon, though. She came to realize why Ena was screaming so loudly and why she was so panicked. Moony froze in place next to Ena as she stared. The world seemed to be in slow motion, all noise became filtered out as a faint ringing took its place through the air. From the clearing smoke she could see it:
The Great Runas had fallen.
