Hoseok heaves a deep sigh. He can hear the others in the kitchen preparing, laying out two silicone baking mats, and helping Namjoon out of the refrigerator. Hoseok had come out before him, needing a full hour to achieve maximum softness, the perfect consistency for unsalted butter like him to be in this recipe.
He can’t wait to be combined with the others, to achieve their dream of creating something delicious together. And now that Taehyung had finally gotten to twenty ounces, the time had come.
“Hobutter~” Yoongi’s voice calls him from his dreamy softening. “Are you ready? The bowl’s all set up for you~”
“Yess, Yoongiiii,” Hoseok slurs slightly. “Someone’ll have to come ’n get me though. ‘M too sofft.”
“Coming~”
Hoseok looks up to see Yoongi’s little confectioner’s sugar cloud approaching and feels his heart rate kick up. The two of them are the first ingredients, the first in the recipe to be combined together, first to become one. Just the two of us.
“You look so sweet and smooth today, sugar~” Hoseok whispers, practically purring as he feels Yoongi’s cloud descending on him, scooping him up like nothing. At four cups Yoongi’s the second biggest of the seven, strong enough to carry all but Taehyung. Taehyung, however, needs to stay separate from the others during the mixing process. The finisher with little bits of Jimin, they’ll come in later.
For now, though, it’s just Hoseok, Yoongi, and the mixing bowl.
Hoseok feels the cloud dissipate as Yoongi lays him in the bowl and backs away, leaving just a hint of his presence, a light dusting of confectioner’s sugar. Around him, he can hear bustling, small bottles clinking together, and the light whirr of the mixer. He hears it— feels it with him in the bowl, feels himself adjusting to its presence. With another light whirr, it begins, spreading Hoseok around in the bowl, spreading him out just like he’s dreamt of. He feels so creamy in that moment, he almost doesn’t want it to end.
Almost.
Sure enough, after two minutes, the mixer slows down and Hoseok is once again joined by Yoongi— this time, out of his cloud form. Slowly, Yoongi sifts down, layering himself on top of Hoseok evenly and gracefully, until Hoseok can’t see anything— feel anything but Yoongi.
The mixer starts up again— this time on low— and Hoseok and Yoongi are folded together, blending until they are indistinguishable from one another. The process takes only a minute, but lasts forever, and Hoseok wouldn’t have it any other way. As the mixer slows to a stop, Hoseok and Yoongi look up, the commotion of clinking glasses enough to draw their attention.
“Have you warmed up, Namjoonie?” Seokjin drawls, resisting the urge to cuddle into Jungkook’s extract before they join the others. Can’t help that sweet, sweet vanilla extract scent. Jungkook, of course, says Seokjin’s almond extract is more pleasant, less jarring to get a full whiff of, but at one and a half teaspoons less than Jungkook, it could just be blamed on size.
“I have!” Namjoon giggles excitedly. “Let’s join them now! The mixer’s waiting!”
Namjoon holds onto the other two and splashes into the bowl, feeling Seokjin and Jungkook mix into himself before the mixer even kicks up, combining the five of them at a high speed. As heavy cream, Namjoon is used to feeling thick, but this thickness was a whole new level of thick. No longer liquid, but a soft solid. The five of them coalesced for three short minutes with the agitation of the mixer until once again, it paused.
“Jiminie~ it’s your turn.” They spoke together, voices melding into a chorus.
“Tae-tae, I’m gonna leave a couple of my pieces out so you don’t get lonely, okay? The recipe calls for it, too~” Jimin purrs softly as he nuzzles up against Taehyung before jumping into the bowl.
Taehyung watches the mixer turn back on, once again at a low speed, folding Jimin into the mixture, making it six. All of them together with me on the outside. Taehyung sighs. He knows it won’t be for long, just a couple hours, but it’s a couple hours where he’s not embracing each and every one of them. He stays still as the plastic wrap covers the mixing bowl and his six loves, now one, go into the refrigerator to chill.
An hour later, he’s in the same place. Watching, waiting for his moment to melt and pounce. But it’s yet to come. Now is the time for the silicone baking sheets he’d prepared. Taehyung watches in quiet amusement as his loves form into little teaspoon sized balls and lay themselves out on the baking sheet, sleepily going through the motions they’d prepared for. It’s endearing, the light color they’ve taken on, a soft buttery yellow lightened by Yoongi with scattered colors from Jimin’s pieces. Taehyung wants to hug them right now. He sighs again. But I have to wait for them to chill a bit more, I’ll stick so much better.
He stares at the clock, finding himself counting down the seconds, nearly melting in sweet anticipation. Once the clock strikes that fateful number, he launches himself to the heater, making sure every bit of his 20 ounces is in the bowl so he can melt nice and evenly, ready for his loves when they come out of the fridge.
“Taehyungie~” Jungkook speaks up first, the chorus of voices quick to follow behind him. “Taehyungie, we’re ready for you! So ready~ come hug us!” They purr together, shifting themselves closer to the bowl of Taehyung. “You better get every last drop of you around us, Taehyungie~”
“I’m coming, I’m coming!” Taehyung carefully tilts himself over the baking sheet, spreading out to make sure each and every ball is completely encased in semi-sweet chocolate. Another sigh escapes, this one collective.
“Final touches, Jiminie~”
Jimin takes the last independent part of himself and adorns the tops of each ball with a few pieces, the rainbow sprinkles settling easily in the half-hardened chocolate, completing the recipe.
Solidifying their bond.
Six of them rest on the inside while Taehyung rests on the outside, ready for the next adventure life will bring them. Ready to take anything and everything on.
Together.
