Chapter Text

Reki knew something was going on when he couldn’t find his favorite hoodie.

His first thought was that one of his sisters might’ve taken it, as they were notorious for going through his stuff and stealing whatever they knew was valuable to him.

However, he quickly dismissed the idea. Logically, he knew that if his sisters had stolen it, his mother would’ve returned it by now. She had done it countless times before, and each time had warned him to keep it out of their reach.

Where the hell is it?

Huffing softly to himself, he ran a hand through his hair as he stood up from his kneeling position. He had spent the last fifteen minutes digging everything he could find out from under his bed, only to come up empty-handed.

“I guess I just won’t wear it today,” he muttered to himself as he stalked over to his closet to grab one of his supplement hoodies. The soft grey one he chose wasn’t his favorite, but he didn’t mind wearing it as he held some fond memories involving the faded piece of clothing.

Once he had thrown the hoodie on, he grabbed his backpack from its designated spot beside his desk. Placing its strap on his shoulder, he made his way out of his room and towards the kitchen, where his mother was making breakfast.

“I haven’t seen that one in a while,” she commented, as she placed the finishing touches on the meal she was making. “Is it clean?”

“As clean as it can be with those three running around,” Reki responded, using his thumb to point at his sisters over his shoulder. “Do you know if they took my yellow hoodie?”

His mother shook her head as she passed him two bentos. “No, sorry,” she says, giving him an apologetic look. “Maybe you left it at school? You’re always leaving things in your classroom.”

“Yeah, maybe…”

He looked down at the bentos for a second before shaking his head and looking back up. “Okay, I’m going to head out. Love you, see you when I get home,” he says, grinning at her as he made his way to the front door.

Soon, the redhead found himself in front of the school gates. Taking a deep breath, he hiked his bag over his shoulder and walked through the gates. Usually, he met up with Langa at this point and the two of them would walk to class together, but the blue-haired boy had sent him a text earlier stating that he had to get to the building early to make up a test.

As soon as he entered the building, Reki shoved his hands into his pockets and made his way to his first period. Ignoring the chattering of the other kids around him, he walked quickly into the room but stopped short as he was approaching his desk.

Sat in the desk directly beside his own was Langa, fast asleep, his arms folded on top of the wooden surface and his head placed heavily on his arms. The scene in itself wasn’t unusual as Langa tried to get in a nap before class started, but what was unusual was the item of clothing that adorned his lanky structure.

Reki recognized it immediately. It was his missing hoodie.

Despite Langa’s taller structure, the hoodie seemed to fit him well. It was even baggy in a few places, making the blue-haired boy look softer than he normally looked.

Shaking himself out of his shock, Reki continued walking towards his desk. Once he arrived and was seated, he turned once more to look at Langa, a soft smile on his face as he observed the older boy.

Eventually, though, Langa stirred. Quickly, Reki looked away from him and instead set his focus on the front of the room. A couple of his fellow classmates were arguing over something fairly pointless, so he lost interest quickly.

Reki shot another quick look at Langa only to discover that he was stretching, the hoodie riding up a little on his stomach. Reki felt his cheeks heat up as he looked away from his friend--read: crush--and instead leaned down to get his stuff out of his bookbag, his face still beet red.

“Oh Reki, when did you get here?” he then heard Langa ask. He gulped before sitting back up in his seat, his face less warm than it had been before.

“A few minutes ago. You were still asleep,” Reki answers, plastering a slight grin on his face. Thank fuck he was asleep and didn’t see me staring.

“Oh,” Langa murmurs out. “I didn’t miss anything did I?”

Reki shook his head in response. “No, class hasn’t started yet,” he answers, reaching into his pocket and pulling out his phone. “You’ve still got ten minutes if you want to catch some more z’s.”

“It’s okay, I’ve slept long enough,” Langa answers, causing Reki to look up from his phone. “If I fall asleep again, I might not wake up in time for class to start,” he admits chuckling.

“Oh. Yeah I understand,” Reki murmurs, shoving his phone back into his pocket.

Langa shoots him a look, before opening his mouth. “Are you okay?” He asks, a worried tone masking his words. Reki chuckles fondly, “Worrywart,” he says, a bit of affection laced in that one word. “I’m fine.”

“If you say so,” Langa sighs, turning to face the front as their teacher walked in. “Hey, want to eat lunch on the roof?” He then asks, without looking away from the front.

“Always.”

Reiki’s gay panic attack happened about ten minutes after the two of them finished eating.

While they were eating, he couldn’t help to notice that Langa was struggling to keep himself awake. The blue haired boy was eating slower than he usually did, and yawning more often.

“Langa, what time did you go to bed last night?” Reki questions, looking over at him.

“I honestly have no idea,” Langa admits, running a hand through his hair as he placed his bento down and covered it. “I got home around…one in the morning?”

Reiki raised an eyebrow. “Why did you get home so late? We left the skatepark at twelve.”

“I got hungry and went to get something to eat,” Langa mumbles, a yawn escaping his mouth.

Reiki smiled fondly before carefully placing his bento down. He reached into his pocket and grabbed his phone. “We have about forty five minutes until our next class. You’re going to take a nap, alright?”

“But I’m not-” another yawn escaped the blue haired boy, “-tired.”

“Uh huh, sure you’re not,” Reki says, a hint of sarcasm lacing his words. “Lie down, Langa. I’m not joking with you.”

“But-”

“No buts.”

Langa groaned before running his hand through his hair once more. “I hate sleeping on my bookbag though,” he mumbles.

“Do you want to use my lap?” Reki blurts out, his face immediately turning a dark shade of red as he registered what he had just said. “I-I mean, fuck that came out wrong, ignore that, please.”

“Reks, it's fine,” Langa says, placing his hand back down at his side. “If you’re serious about it, I don’t mind using your lap. It’s probably ten times more comfortable than my bookbag.”

“Well, cats always fall asleep on it so,” Reki shrugs, causing Langa to chuckle softly as he shifted to a laying down position. Reki smiled softly as Langa placed his head into his lap, a sound of contentment coming from him.

“Comfy?” Reki asks.

“Surprisingly, yes,” Langa answers, his gaze meeting Reki’s. “Hey, this might sound weird, but do you mind playing with my hair? My mom used to do it when I was little.”

“Will it help you sleep?” Reki asks.

“Probably,” Langa murmurs, his eyes already falling closed as Reki began to run a gentle hand through the soft blue locks.
