Work Text:

Roman let out a frustrated groan and slammed his notebook closed. He crossed his arms mumbled to himself, glaring hard at the mistreated leatherbound journal. The pages inside mocked him whenever he opened up the book and hovered his pencil over the blank lines.

“Inspiring. Sure.” Roman grumbled sarcastically, yanking his headphones off his head. The soft piano laughing at his despair silencing. A yawn escaped from Roman’s mouth before he could stop it. His body finally relaxed from it’s prolonged tense position as the idea of sleep entered his mind. Roman slumped over his desk, failing to find the energy to get up and sleep properly in his bed. His eyes closed quickie as he let out another yawn.

Roman didn’t realize he’d fallen asleep until he was softly shaken awake. He let out a grumble of protest, yet opened his eyes. Still sleepy it was difficult to tell much from the figure in front of him, the glasses were the only things he could identify. Roman closed his eyes again, about to slip back into sleep, when he felt himself get lifted from his desk. He squirmed slightly at the sudden disturbance but his protest was responded by soft shushing.

“Let’s get you to bed, alright bud?” Patton rubbed Roman’s back as he walked out of the study room and towards the nearest bedroom.

“I’ve got-” Roman interrupted himself with another yawn and Patton slowed his pace giving Roman a chance to respond, “I’ve got homework.”

“You’ve been glaring at your journal for an hour now,” Roman turned his head to see Logan walking besides Patton. Logan ruffled Roman’s hair softly before continuing, “Average adults can only focus for an estimated amount of forty-five minutes before requiring a break.”

“Nerd.” Roman gave a small smile as he replied. Logan returned the smile and shook his head at the playful insult.

“I can only hypothesize that estimation decreases for adolescents.” Logan opened the door to the master bedroom for Patton, allowing him to walk through with Roman in his arms. Roman watched Logan pull the cover and the sheets open and Patton gently placed him in the middle of the bed.

“Can I ask you something?” Roman asked shyly. Logan and Patton looked at him expectantly and he swallowed, “If neither of you are busy, could you stay? Please?” Roman looked away as he mumbled his question. There was a pause and Roman’s stomach dropped. Before he could apologize he felt the bed shift and looked over to see Patton and Logan both shuffling into the master bed next to him at either side. As Roman made eye contact with each of them both men offered a kind soft smile. He cuddled close to both of them and let out a sigh of content. Logan began to rhythmically run his hands through Roman’s hair and Patton sofly hummed a tune. Roman let out a final yawn as he fell into a comfortable melody filled slumber.
