Prologue: Despair High School.
Part 1: Hope’s Peak Academy
Hope’s Peak Academy.
It wasn’t a school for just anyone. It was for the elites of society! Those with exceptional talent and skill would be scouted to attend one of the best High Schools of the world. These people with amazing talent were called “Ultimates”, Ultimates that would eventually inspire Hope in the rest of the world. Nestled in the Heart of Tokyo Japan, this elite high school dedicated to shaping a future for the world’s absolute best and brightest of our era. High schoolers were not just picked out at random either. To go was an exceptional honor, and anyone who did attend was practically set for life. Which is why the School themselves set out every year to scout out new talent that would one day graduate and inspire Hope for all who came across their path.
And in a stroke of luck I was accepted! Hopes Peak Academy. It has been my dream to go to this school ever since I could remember. At this moment, standing before the Gates I could only see my future and reason worth living. I had to simply stare in awe at the school that had chosen me of all people to attend such a prestigious school. I admire this school from the bottom of my heart. It gives me such deep pride that my life-long dream is finally being realized. Of course, I could admire this wonderful school all day, but my journey won’t truly begin until I finally take my first steps in the gate. Well...Here I go!
Hope's Peak, I hope you’re ready for…
For…
For…
Strange…
He could have swore just a moment ago that it was a bright and sunny day, but now it was...dark. Completely pitch black, as if he didn't exist anymore. He felt like he was there but he couldn't remember anything; the body he possessed was just a face he recognized with no name. But in that moment of desperation he held on to that tangible figure in his mind. Brown shaggy hair, Green eyes, and...a smile masked with layers of self doubt and insecurity. This was him, who ever he was, a nameless face with a head full of scrambled memories. Eventually however, within his crumbling state of identity a light breached his eyes, and slowly he began to shift into an awakened state. His head was heavy, like someone had cracked open his skull and filled it with lead. Lifting it was somewhat of a challenge, and the natural lightning only made the ache on the base of his skull somehow worse.
“Augh… Where-” He attempted to speak but his tongue felt like a weight in his mouth and the world was so heavy that time came to an almost slow and incomprehensible stop, that he barely recognized the room he was in. Actually...Wait he didn’t recognize the room. “Huh… It's... a classroom?” But not one that he ever saw before. The room was colored in a colorful child-like yellow wallpaper printed with what he thought were giraffe-shaped patterns. The light above the chalkboard flickered so harshly it left an ominous and sickly feeling in the pit of his stomach. Slowly his eyes survived the room, and he noted that he was alone, completely alone. Why was that so unnerving to him?
Turning his head he finally noticed the large metal sheets covering the window with the largest rusted bolts he had ever seen. It was a complete shock at first, that it forced him to his feet to investigate the strange and bizarre choice of decoration. “W...What the Hell!?” But he got up too fast at first, and his legs wobbled and his head dipped into his hand. He would take a moment to slowly regain his footing due to the sudden movement, and recovered just as face. He shook his head, ran a hand through his hair, and dragged his feet to the windows. “Why are these…” Window’s aren’t usually covered up with reinforced steel. Not unless you were trying to keep something out. Or... Keep something in. He wouldn’t even make the attempt to try and remove them, something told him already that it would be impossible.
It was a moment later he remembered he was here for Orientation. With a sudden jolt of immediate panic he looks up to stare at the clock. He was supposed to be there at 8 am, and now it was… 8:15!? He was late? Impossible, he remembered even coming in an entire hour early just so he would avoid the terror of being late to his first day at Hope’s Peak. He was so full of pride to be a part of the roster and wanted to make a good impression on the new students. “Damn it...I should get to the main hall.” But even with his haste to attend his orientation, something still didn’t sit right with him. The bolted windows, the surveillance cameras, and the loss of time left a tremor of discomfort in the pit of my stomach.
With that, a sudden shudder went through his body. A part of him felt like he was in terrible danger but with no clarity to his current situation he felt helpless. The metal on the windows was an obvious enough red flag, but he hoped that this was some kind of prank or freshman hazing. This was his first year of highschool after all, he expected pranks from upperclassmen. But this...didn’t feel like a normal prank. This didn’t feel like a school. Could Hope’s Peak really be something else? A hidden organization that lured students to a messed up place with the promises of grander only to play some kind of weird game?
No...That would be pretty funny though if it was, huh.
He finds himself laughing to himself, albeit nervously. At this point he may have been trying to convince himself that none of this was real. It couldn’t be real. Could it? In his mild panic his eyes flickered to the desk at the front of the room, noticing the small pamphlet he hadn’t before. Or… Piece of paper rather. He could hardly consider this dribble a pamphlet. There were crude child-like drawings all over the front page, and the paper itself was wrinkled with coffee stains and other mysterious markings on the front and back. Pink flowers surrounded a poorly drawn version of hope's peak with people waving on the front, but he wasn’t at all interested in the drawings. Rolling his eyes he opened the pamphlet to find even worse drawings (somehow) and words that filled him with a sudden deep dread.
‘Welcome to Hope's Peak Academy. The next Semester is about to start. Starting today, this school is now your entire world.’
“What!?” His voice cracked a little as he felt his throat clench shut upon those words and dropped the paper to the floor. He wanted to be at Hope’s Peak badly but Something about this wasn’t right. He felt like he was being imprisoned for reasons beyond his comprehension. This had to be a joke right? Someone had to know what was going on here.
Just then it clicked for him. This was a school! There had to be someone else beside him who knew something about whatever was going on at this school. A teacher, A counselor, Hell he’d take a Janitor too if they knew anything. Clearing his throat, he slowly but surely approaches the door of the classroom. He’s not sure why he grips the handle so slowly, but the slow creak of the door opening into the hall does nothing to settle his nerves. Even more so, stepping into the hallway itself seems to make it worse. There’s purple LED lights lighting up an otherwise unsettling, creepy, and dark hallway. The flooers were checkerboard, like the school had recently been renovated. He’d hate to be caught out here at night, by himself. But it was morning right?
He was supposed to meet in the Main hall this morning, so perhaps others were there as well, hopefully someone knew something and were not as confused as he was. Taking a deep breath he takes his first steps through the campus halls. Closing the door behind him he looks immediately down the hall to his right. At the end of the hall are bright red double doors with silver handles. It’s different from the rest of the class room doors nearby, almost like it was calling out to him but he didn’t want to answer it. He approaches it first, the doors stealing his curiosity and he reaches out to jiggle the handles. But of course it’s locked, and he didn’t think any amount of pushing or pulling would get it to open. He decided to focus on the main hall for now, pushing the mysterious red doors in the farthest reaches of his mind. Hopefully that wouldn’t come back to hurt him.
Part 2: Introductions
Upon entering the main hall, he was met with a colorful cast of characters truly varying in uniqueness. Who shifted their gaze to stare at his arrival. But He was completely interested in nothing but the door behind them. The large, Vault-like door with turrets on the inside. That wasn’t at all weird or horrifying in any way possible.
“Whoa Hey, Another one!”
“How many more fucking kids we gotta stand around and wait for before we get this damn show on the road.”
Voices. His eyes fell back to the other student’s in front of him, 15 students just like him must have all been here for orientation. His mouth was dry but he managed to speak up. “Yeah, Hey...I’m new to this school...Are you guys uh...here for Orientation?” His voice sounds so small, but he’s confused. Was this the entire Freshman class? Or were there others.
“Ye-yeah..I-I-I think so.”
“So, I suppose this makes 16 of us. There shouldn’t be any more student’s in our class Though I still wonder if this is everyone...”
These had to be Ultimates right? He was standing before them, like a child who lost their mother in a grocery store. He was captivated by them and he almost forgot why he was here. He couldn’t get distracted now. “Ah well, Hey, Sorry I’m so late I was distracted. I think I passed out in a classroom.” Although he wasn’t sure why he was there in the first place.
“So you too Huh?” A raspy voice caused him to turn his head to a nearby student, he was oddly pale, Dull green eyes, white hair that spiraled in all kinds of directions. His jacket most notably was green with strange red patterns on the shoulder, and looked a bit worn in the back. He seemed strangely confident, perhaps he knew where he was or what was going on. But there was something about him that felt kind off, like someone you’d want to distance yourself from but he wasn’t sure why.
“How strange, It seems with every question we answer new things spiral out of control.”
“Man, All this weird shit makes ME have to SHIT!”
“GROSS! Keep that to yourself, ugly head!”
“Uh- Excuse me,” The weary protagonist speaks up again, as a bead of sweat rolls down his temple. “What are you talking about?”
“Huh, You haven’t figured it out yet?” Pipes up the lanky, white haired man, with a wide and somewhat patient smile...that was somehow a little creepy at the same time. “Ultimate’s like you guys should be able to figure it out no problem! But your head might be a little out of it right now, so I guess I’ll explain.” he crosses his arms, a little triumphant flair of his nostrils as he continues.
“Hold on, before we do t-that- uhm.” His eyes darted across the room to another student, A very large student; he was very round, big honey golden eyes and rosy cheeks. He seems a bit nervous, like he was working up his courage to say something. “Shouldn’t w-we...Shouldn’t we introduce ourselves first? I mean, we can’t really discuss anything if we don’t know eachothers names right?”
“T-That seems like a g-good Idea-”
“Shut Up Pig Breath! No one asked you!”
“Eep!”
“Ibuki Thinks this is a great Idea!”
“Well...Our new arrival can go first. Since he showed up late.” The wiry haired student nudged his shoulder, as if pushing a load of responsibility on him he wasn’t prepared for. All eyes were on him, and he was feeling a bit of stage fright.
“Me?” His companion to his right, nodded and he supposed he just better get it over with. “I’m uh…” Who was he again...his name It was like it was- “I’m Hajime.” Without warning it came to him, like a flash of lightning his head swelled and the memory of his name returned. All though he really wasn’t sure why all the sudden his memory was coming back to him. Although, really now that he thought about it he didn't really remember much before coming to Hope's Peak. Even his Ultimate Talent was a mystery to him. Perhaps he didn’t remember that either...it would come back to him right? For now, he supposed just his name would do. “Hajime Hinata .” He hoped that they wouldn’t ask him about his Ultimate talent, and they were silent as if waiting expectantly so he averted his gaze. It seems like his new companion took the hint and spoke up next, but not before giving a somewhat curious look.
“I’ll go next. I’m Nagito Komaeda, Ultimate Lucky Student. ” Ultimate Luck? Hajime was about to ask if that was real, but he didn’t have to, it seemed like Nagito was reading his mind. “Yep it’s real. I wasn’t scouted like the others though. I got into this school via draw. Apparently Hope’s Peak wants to research the effects of Luck and it’s full potential. I don’t deserve to be here among so many great talents, but i'm so honoured that this school chose trash like me, to stand before you all.” The rest of the room groaned uncomfortably at the way he said that, Even Hajime had to admit that the way he spoke was a tad strange, but he didn’t want to judge a book by its cover. He could be a nice guy. For all Hajime knew.
“That must be some powerful Luck then.” Hajime says, wincing nervously. Hopefully deering from the topic might settle the discomfort in the room. “Who wants to go next?”
The chubby student from earlier stood now, straightening his back . “H-Hi! I’m Ryota Mitarai, Ultimate Animator. ”
“Ultimate Animator?” Hajime says, a little taken aback. That really was a talent to be proud of. He must be good if he attended Hope’s Peak. Or rather was supposed to.
“Yeah I know I don’t look like it, If I had my phone I’d show you some of my work but, I couldn’t find it when I woke up.”
“I didn’t mean it like that-” Hajime shakes his hands back and forth, he didn’t want to seem like he was Judging him or anything, but he feared if he attempted to apologize he’d just just end up making himself look like an ass. “I’d like to see your drawings sometime.” Ryota almost appeared starry eyed that someone took interest in his work, and Hajime couldn’t help but feel his heart grow warm at what he thought was the beginning of a budding friendship.
“Stop Hogging up all the Stage Weeb!” A woman steps forwards, she doesn’t look like a highschooler at all, rather a woman. She has a really slender figure, not that Hajime is really looking at that in particular. He’s just surprised, and wondering if she was actually a high schooler. “I’m Hiyoko Saionji! Ultimate Traditional Dancer! ” Huh, That name Actually seemed familiar. “I’m pretty famous for it! I’m sure you heard of me but don’t expect any Autographs.” She winks at her “audience” and a small man in a chefs and a pink haired man two feet away from her seems to squeal in excitement. Hiyoko seemed to already have some admirers, although she doesn't seem too pleased because immediately Hiyoko jumps away in response from their “fangirling”. But thankfully she was saved by the next introduction.
“Oh! O-O-O-O-O Ibuki next!” In the center of this circle they’ve begun to build, jumps in another woman. Her hair was black (or was that a black-blue) with very colorful strands of pink blue and white, that she seemed to have expertly been tied into two horns on top of her head. He had to wonder how she even achieved such an impossible feat but he decided to ask later. “Ibuki Mioda! Ibuki is the Ultimate Musician! ” Another name that sounded familiar somehow. Actually, he did remember that name. She was one of the fastest growing musicians in Junior high. She had a band but everyone knows they had a falling out due to ‘creative differences.’ But the tabloids always conspire about what really happened.
“Guess I’ll go next..” Chimed in a blonde haired boy. He was wearing a suit and tie, which oddly enough seemed out of place for a casual orientation. And Hajime would know why in a moment. “ Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu. Ultimate Yakuza. ” The room went deadly silent after wards, and he would turn his head away to glare at the floor. He gritted his teeth at the silence that Hajime felt was unintentional and he had the strangest urge to help him out.
“Yakuza Huh? You must be pretty powerful if the School Scouted you out.”
“What are you trying to say?” His head whips around and this dangerous looking grin drifted across his cheeks. “You think my family threatened or paid off the school, huh? I got in because of my talent and nothing else! So don’t fuck with me or I will kill you!” There was a gentle hand that pressed against his shoulder, startling him; he suddenly shifted his gaze to a taller woman with white braided hair and piercing eyes.
“That’s enough Ma- Fuyuhiko.” She says. Her responses caused him to click his tongue and roll his shoulder until her hand fell from his side. “We have to work together, making enemies so soon will do no good.”
“Shut up! I don’t care.” He rolls eyes, and she lets out a sigh. Hajime got the impression they somehow knew each other.
He quips up. “Are you guys... Friends?”
“ No!” They answer simultaneously, as if it was rehearsed. Okay,so… Did they know each other or not? He decided not to press further.
“Allow me to introduce myself. Peko Pekoyama, Ultimate Swordswoman. ” It was short, but she didn’t appear to want to further the conversation. But at least the room was no longer on edge, so Hajime felt he succeeded. In a weird way.
“Yeah, I’ll go next I guess. Sup everyone! I’m Kazuichi Souda, Ultimate Mechanic. ”
“Mechanic?” Nagito pipes up, looking over at the pink haired male and watching how his sharp toothed grin falls flat in a bit of confusion. He nods in response.
“Yeah that’s right! I can fix pretty much anything, rebuild stuff, or make it look like it’s fresh out the packaging! I mean I mainly specialized my talent in cars and machinery but if it's broken I’ll do my best.”
“I see.” Nagito says, eyes moving in thought before his hands fall to his sides. “I wanna ask you something, but I’ll wait till introductions are over.” He smiles and nods his head, turning towards the group so they can finish.
“Then I shall go next.” A woman with long blonde hair steps forward next, her back is straight, and when she stands it’s elegant. Even her apparel seems to be the spitting image of something royal. “Greetings all, I am Sonia Nevermind. The Ultimate Princess. ” Oh. Well go, figure.
“A princess!?” Kazuichi announces, whipping around to face her with stars in his eyes. “Like, an honest to god real princess!?” Hajime thought Kazuichi would start drooling but at least it seemed like he had some self control- nevermind. He was drooling.
“...Yes?” Sonia answers, a little confused by his reaction, but continues anyway. “I am princess to a very small country in Europe. I would not be surprised if you have never heard of Novoselic, but I assure you our culture is very rich and I hope to share it with you all as we continue our journey through high school. Despite our current circumstances. I look forward to being your peer!”
Her excitement seemed to die down with the squealing of her new admirer, who nearly fainted from- Joy? “She even gives speeches like a princess!” With red cheeks he clasped his hands as if smitten.
Thankfully his ridiculous admiration was cut off by another student. “Silence you cur! The time is nigh for me to introduce myself, and I will do so without Interruption!” This guy...They keep getting weirder and weirder the further these introductions go. Hajime doesn’t even know how to react to this man. He appeared before him like he was a character out of some anime he’d watched as a kid. Pale skin, lightning bolt across his left eye, one red eye, a coat, boots, and a purple scarf that seemed to be moving by Aura alone because there was no draft to be felt in this room. He hoped this guy was not the Ultimate Villain or something.
“I don’t like repeating myself, so I will only say this once! I am a being to be feared, a dark creature that will one day rule your world! I alone with the aid of my dark beasts, will conquer your pathetic planet and swallow the seas! Remember it well! For this is the Day you shall meet GUNDHAM TANAKA, THE ULTIMATE BREEDER! ” Said breeder would suddenly strike a fearsome pose, and four hamsters would erupt from his scarf and strike poses of their own, squeaking in unison. Hajime swore they were giving demands for their plot to world domination. “Behold, the Four Dark Devas of Destruction!”
“Hamsters!” The squeal of Sonia Nevermind seems to catch him off guard completely, Frankly, even Hajime is taken aback at this entire conversation. “I- Mean Deva’s! Pardon my Ignorance!”
“It’s...That is fine. They are often mistaken as not the powerful creatures that they are.” He was sweating a little. Was Gundham nervous?
“They are quite adorable! If you’d allow me, I’m very interested in learning about your Devas!”
“I- Thank you.” Gundham seems to shrink up a bit, and his face lowers into his scarf as the heat spreads across his face. Gundham was an interesting character for sure, but he seemed to have a nice side despite spouting all that nonsense about conquering the world. Or whatever.
He did notice however Kazuichi glaring at him from across the room, muttering something about hamsters and princesses under his breath.
“Delightful!” A small man announces, “So many nice faces and, beautiful babe’s,” He chuckles, almost sneakily as he continues. “I can’t wait to stuff your faces full of food! The names Teruteru Hanamura, Ultimate Cook! But if you don’t mind I’d like to be called Ultimate Chef. Has a kind of big city flavor, ya know? Ladies.” He winks, slides a hand through his hair, and equips finger guns to a group of girls standing together on the opposite end of the room. They immediately cough, hack, and cry out in disgust but he doesn’t seem to care one bit.
The only woman in the room that seems interested is a brunette, but he’s not exactly what she’s interested in. “A chef! You make food?! God I’ve been starving all day, Are you making dinner for us tonight?”
“I guess! Why not, I love to cook!” He chuckles and adjusts his little chef's hat on top of his head.
“Hell yeah!” But then it’s like she remembered why they were there in the first place. “Oh yeah, Akane Owari, Ultimate Gymnast, and yes my tits are real!” She announces, stretching her arms in the air and resting them behind her head as she grins at the group. Not that, Hajime really cared about how big her chest was. At all. Frankly nobody did, except the two men he labeled as typical high school perverts. Who were drooling. Hajime sighed, and rolled his eyes.
“You know, As a woman you should have a little more modesty.” Spoke a booming voice. Standing at what Hajime assumed was 8 feet tall, was a man wearing a silver thick chain, had muscles that looked like he could squish someone's head without even trying, and a package that could rival any man in this room. The sheer aura of power emanated from the beast of a man had Hajime internally admitting he was a little intimidated.
Although despite his chadly aura, Akane did not seem to care what he thought, and shrugged her shoulders while digging a finger into her ear. “But I do admire your Honesty.” Sure. “Anyways, I should introduce myself, I'm the Ultimate Team Manager! NEKOMARU NIDAI!! Let’s get along!” He offered the group his thumbs up, and Hajime could already tell that he was going to be the guy that raised your spirits when you were down. Hajime Already kind of admired him, perhaps he was not so intimidated after all.
“Guess I’ll go next.” A red headed woman approached the group. Hajime couldn’t help but compare the shape of her haircut to an apple. He felt bad for doing so already. “I’m Mahiru Koizumi, The Ultimate photographer! Smile everyone!” She raised her camera and snapped a quick photo of the group before they could protest. They were momentarily blinded by the flash of the light and groaned painfully as they rubbed their eyes in defeat. Then she turns to another girl beside her and gently nudges her shoulder.
She seems to flinch dramatically at the contact but steps up to introduce herself.
“Hurry Up Pig barf we haven’t got all day!” Hiyoko shouts, causing her to squeal, but it seems to work because she starts to speak, although it’s a stuttering mess.
“ H-Hi...I’m Mikan Tsumiki...I’m the Ultimate Nurse.” That part she says with confidence, although immediately after she seems to crawl back into her shell and silence befalls the room. He wasn’t sure what to ask her after that, so he decided not to press her for further information. They could all get to know each other better later of course.
The room was quiet after that, save for the sounds of small pixel ships battling weird alien space bugs and a victory. Everyone looked around and their eyes fell upon a girl with a strange cat hoodie over her head. She was far away from the group than everyone else, leaning on the large door that sealed them from exiting the school. She seemed to be distant from everyone else, as if she did it on purpose. Hajime wondered if she was paying attention at all.
“Hey! Are you even paying attention!?” Fuyuhiko shouted, as his head lulled to the side to glare in her direction. The others didn’t stop him cause they seemed to be wondering the same thing. When she didn’t answer. Fuyuhiko’s eyes twitched, clearly irritated that she seemed to be ignoring him. He would growl before completely stomping over to her, “Hey, I’m talking to you!” She didn’t look up from her portable device, her fingers tapping away at the buttons of whatever game she was playing, Yet, Hajime saw this becoming violent really fast. The Yakuza raised his fist and Hajime was going to leap out to protect her, but the sound of metal echoed through the room as he punched the metal door.
It was the sound of a defeat that brought her out of her distracted state, and a pouty frown pulled at her lips. “Oh, darn.” She utters softly, but not a moment later does she pull her eyes away from the game in her hands to look up at the others, her pink hues looking around the room but Hajime felt like she was only looking at him. “Oh, is it time to introduce myself?”
She turned to the group after turning off her game, and a tired yet bright smile spread into her cheeks. “Hi, I’m Chiaki Nanami , I’m the Ultimate Gamer.” His heart fluttered a little.
Part 3: Business as Usual
“Well, Now that we have introduction’s out of the way,” Nagito says, seemingly not at all affected by Fuyuhiko’s startling outburst. It seemed like Business as usual. Whatever that is. The male leaned against a nearby pillar and raised his hand to play with a tendril of hair. “We need to discuss our current predicament.”
“Well we already Know our predicament,” Nekomaru speaks up, crossing his arms and tilting his head to the side. “We’re all the same right? We’ve all been drugged or something.”
“Drugged?” Hajime perks up.
“Yeah,” He continues. “We’re all the same as you. We all were supposed to be coming to Orientation early this morning. But we woke up in a part of the school with no knowledge of how we got there.”
“Our memory has been altered.” Nagito continues, now crossing his arms a little slyly. “To what extent I can’t say, but that alone means we are in some kind of danger.”
“Who cares about that!” Hiyoko announces, brandishing a fist and stepping towards him. “How the hell do we get out of here!?”
“Get out of here? The doors right there. You wanna go against those turrents sister be my fucking guest.” Fuyuhiko gestures to the large door behind him.
“Are you crazy? I’d probably get torn to bits!”
“Better than hearing you yap in my damn ear!”
“Hey, Do you talk to your mother that way!?” Mahiru points, and thrusts her finger into his chest, tapping him violently. He seemed, oddly taken aback that she didn't appear frightened by him after he announced he was a Yakuza.
“I don’t have a mother!” He bites back, shutting her up. She turned away with a guilty look in her eyes as she fell silent. Fuyuhiko would sigh and thrust his hands in his pocket dejectedly. “Besides, There’s plating on all the windows. Nekomaru already tried tearing them off. I ran into him before we came here, they’ve defeated a tank like him..”
“Yep that’s right, Plus all our cell phones have been confiscated. The only electronics I’ve seen since we got here was Chiaki’s GamePad, and Mahiru’s Camera.” Nekomaru continued. “It’s like, We’ve been kidnapped or something. Is this really Hopes Peak…?”
“WhAAAAA KIDNAPPED!?” Kazuichi screamed, throwing his hands in the air dramatically. “Your kidding?! Right? Are you sure this isn’t some kind of prank or something? M-Maybe the school wanted to throw a surprise party?” Hajime thought that too at first but now that it came from someone else's mouth he realized just how silly that sounded… given their circumstances at least.
“T-thats the other thing too. Where are the teachers?” Ryota asks, hunching over as he pulls frantically at his tie. He looks withdrawn and tired, like he was trying to keep himself awake.
“Look around you!” Gundham speaks up, voice booming as all eyes look upon him and give him their undivided attention. “You ask too many questions, and you have not yet realized all the answers are within your grasp. The tide is coming in soon, and what you should be asking yourself is whether or not you are prepared for the storm that is approaching you!”
Silence, They all looked about the room, rubbing their arms, the back of their heads, nervously. It all began to sink in that something was not right here...something was definitely wrong. Hajime couldn’t even begin to say anything, dread filled the air like a thick haze and he inhaled it in little by little. They were kidnapped. Whether this was Hope's Peak or not, it didn’t change the fact that they had no means of escape. He wanted to say something, say anything, inspire some hope in the students of Hope's peak, but even he felt his tongue was somewhat heavy by the news.
Sonia on the other hand, was thinking of something to say, Her head rose in an attempt to perhaps give them some sort of guidance, but then fell closed once again. It is what she was taught to be for her whole life, and even the princess was at a complete loss of words. However, at the moment she would attempt to raise their spirits, her voice would be drowned out immediately by a sound that would later spark nothing but dread.
Ding Dong, Bing Bong!
The group would raise their heads as the sound of the monitor sparked to life with static. Their eyes would widen at the silhouette that formed but the image was too grainy to make out anything that resembled a human. Who was this mysterious figure, their captor? “Ahem Ahem, Testing Testing, Mic Check, Mic Check-” The sudden whine of the feedback from the microphone in the speaker causes them to grab their ears and wince in pain. “Ohohoho! Sorry about that!” The voice said, Sounding oddly like...a child? Although rough. In comparison.
“This is a test of the school broadcast system! Can everyone hear me okay? Goodie!” The voice was playful and unconcerned, and that drove a pit of fear into Hajime’s stomach that twisted like a knife into a ball. “To all students of Hope’s Peak! I’d like to begin the entrance ceremony immediately! Please make your way over to the Gymnasium at your earliest convenience! I’ll be waaaaaiiiting~”
When the monitor clicked off, Hajime turned to face the others in the room, who were just as confused and seemingly as concerned as he was about the turn of events. “W-What the hell!?” Kazuichi said exactly what they were all thinking, however only few of them did not seem as concerned as Hajime thought. Kazuichi would glare at the Yakuza currently making his way out of the entrance hall. “Hey! Where the hell are you going?”
“The Gym Idiot.”
“But what if our captors are there! They could attack us!” Teruteru shouted, a little paranoid sounding compared to earlier when he was flirting with the entire room.
“I hope they are, cause I wanna find out why the hell I’m here!” With that he slammed the door behind him, causing everyone in the room to jump.
After a moment of silence, Peko nods and heads towards the door. “I’ll go, and be sure he doesn’t do something unwise.”
Not much longer until Mahiru looked at the others and smiled, “Well, I hate to admit it, but he’s got a point.” Shrugging her shoulders she heads to the door with a frantic Hiyoko suddenly running after her.
“Mahiru wait up!” Soon after the others too began to slowly trickle out of the room, shouting obscenities, and threatening to beat up whoever did this to them.
Nagito pulled Kazuichi aside and waved his hand at Hajime as they turned away, “You go on ahead, we’ll join you later.” Kazuichi honestly looked utterly confused about what Nagito would have wanted with him. Hajime did not ask for whatever reason.
In fact he was currently debating on leaving the room, or whether or not to stay. It could be dangerous going face to face with their captors but at the end of the day they could get all the answers they needed, But the more he thought of it, knowing would only cause them more trouble. “Hey, Hey…” A soft voice startled him from his thoughts and he turned his head to see Chiaki standing beside him. She wasn’t quiet looking at him yet, in fact she seemed to be just finishing a level of her video game, and when the victory sound chimed she turned from the pad and looked up at him. “Are you scared?”
“Pfft!? Me, No!” Hajime’s cheeks flushed as he frowned and looked away. It was obvious that he lied, and he was pretty sure he didn’t fool her for a moment. He just wasn’t sure why he lied like that to begin with. “Why, are you?” His eyes find hers again as his expression somewhat softens up.
She takes a moment to answer, giggling softly. “A little.” She rolls her eyes to the side before looking down at her shoes. She seems to have a bit of an issue with making eye contact. “It’s okay to be scared you know. We’re in a scary situation and we don’t really know what’s going on. You seem really nice Hajime...If you know, you need someone to talk too. I'm not super good at conversation, but I'm a very good listener.” Her eyes finally find him again, but then she shly reaches up to grab her hoodie, and pulls it over her head, once again clicking on her GamePad and her thumbs fired away. “See you at the Gym, Hajime.”
And with that she left the room, leaving Hajime feeling a little confused, and maybe a little less scared than he was before. “Thanks…” He turns back to stare at Nagito and Kazuichi then back at the door. Well, he wasn’t going to do anything about this situation if he didn’t take the first step. This was his future after all, and he had to take it before someone else did. Feeling a renewed sense of strength, he inhales a little and leaves the Main hall.
Part 4: The Rules
When Hajime entered the Gym it was pretty quiet, it seemed like the others were also politely observing the room. But surprisingly, it really did look like this was going to be an entrance ceremony. The stage was dressed in the school's best materials and the podium stood tall at the front of the stage. It seemed like now all there was to do was wait for someone to arrive. Hajime was hoping someone would be able to explain why they were here, and why the school was seemingly void of any kind of life other than the 16 of them.
“So… This is the Entrance Ceremony?” Terteru says, approaching the chairs at the front of the room and debating whether he should sit down. “This doesn’t look so bad.”
“WhoooooOOAAAH! Look at this Stage! Ibuki can really rock out on this!” She shouts approaching said stage, and making air guitar motions. To Hajime it just felt like they were all trying to rationalize what sort of conversation they were all in. Not a moment later did Nagito and Kazuichi return, Nagito with eyes full of thought and Kazuichi seemingly defeated by something. Hajime was about to ask what they had discussed but a voice distracted him from doing so.
“Hey there, Howdy, hello! Let’s get this show rolling!” It was that same voice from before. Simultaneously, the group all turned their bodies to face the stage. Hajime wasn’t sure what he was expecting, but he was expecting anything else than a stuffed teddy bear to jump on top of the platform and sit there with a menacing gaze. All were stopped, and completely still. Hajime half expected camera men to run out and tell them they’ve all been pranked. But no such thing occurred.
“...What?” Fuyuhiko exclaimed, stomping forwards as his eyes twitched. “Is this some kind of fucking joke? What’s with the Toy bear.”
“Toy? Do I look like a toy to you!?” The bear shifted his head to the side and the entire room took an entire step back. Who the hell- “Okay, Not the best question, But I am not a Toy! I am however a bear, or Ursus thibetanus, If you prefer! But I am Monokuma! Headmaster of Hope’s Peak Academy! Puhuhuhuhu~” All of them were completely stunned to silence. Even Hajime found himself completely at a loss for words, not that he was very much conversational at all. “It’s nice to meet you all!” But the bear continued, his voice full of joy and completely carefree despite how cold and callous this place was around him.
Hajime wanted to scream, he opened his mouth to let out a horrified screech, but what came out was not his voice, and then he realized it was Kazuichi Souda, shrieking like a girl. “WHAT THE FUUUUUUUCCCKKK!! WHY IS THE TEDDY BEAR TALKING!?”
“I told you, I’m not a teddy bear.” Monokuma seems uncaring of how much distress he appeared to be causing them.
“N-Now calm down!” Nekomaru said, holding out his hands as if trying to keep the room from throwing itself into complete chaos. “I’m sure there's a reasonable explanation for this! It’s probably just got like one of those remote do-hickeys.”
“ What am I, an RC car? I told you already, I'm not a toy! I’m Monokuma! And I am the Headmaster of this school! Grr, Kids these days!” He shouts, throwing his nubby hands in the air in exasperation. “Didn’t your parents ever tell you guys to respect your elders!?”
“AAAAAAA IT MOVED!!” Kazuichi continued to shout, point and panic, but the bear all but ignored him.
“But he’s right, I am remote controlled. But my system is so advanced, not even NASA could hope to recreate something as advanced as I am. But don’t tell NASA! It could hurt their dreams, and I couldn’t Bear THAT! AHAHAHA!!”
The room, simultaneously groaned at that very obvious pun. It only made Fuyuhiko somehow even more furious. “Where the Hell is the kidnapper! Talk now or i'll rip out your stuffing!”
“So rude~” Monokuma quipped back playfully, “Calm down kiddo,” Which seemed to offend him even more but again, the bear danced without care. “Now we must really hurry up and get this Ceremony moving a long, we have a lot to discuss! But before that, I’d like to extend you all a warm welcome! Gooooood Morning everyone!” Morning? Wasn’t it, evening? Not that Hajime could really tell time of day, all the windows were boarded up.
“First off, I’d like to discuss what your lives will be like at this school. You 16 have been chosen to represent the hope of the world! Your potential as future leaders speaks volumes, and it is why that hope must be protected. Which is why you will be living the remainder of your lives within this school.” The room let out a series of wide eyed gasps of confusion. “Together, we will live in peace and harmony, adhering to the rules and regulations!”
“What do you mean ‘remainder of our lives’ !?” Hajime suddenly cried out, not even realizing that he had said anything to start with until he did.
“What do you think it means? You're gonna be living here, together, forever, Up until the day you die!”
“Until we die!?” Mahiru shouted, her face completely pale as she reached up to cover her mouth.
“Yep, that's what I said. But there’s absolutely no need to worry! The school has plenty of money and supplies to keep you guys alive and living comfortably. We’re pretty up to date with modern conveniences! ”
“I think we all appreciate that, But I don’t think that’s what we're worried about.” Nekomaru chimes in, laughing rather uncomfortably afterwards, as if trying to break some tension. It didn’t do much to quell their panic but it was the thought that counted.
“Are you kidding me!? I don’t wanna live here with these people forever!” Hiyoko shrieks impatiently. “Especially with Ms. Pig shit over here stinking up the whole place!!”
“I smell?” Mikan asks with tears in her eyes, She was smiling despite looking like she was about to start sobbing.
“I, Think I actually wanna go home!” Kazuichi shouted suddenly looking for an exit.
“Well you can't!” Monokuma stated, once again taking the attention of the room. “You guys are completely cut off from the outside world! No phones, no way to leave, no way to see the crusty land beyond the windows. You really have no choice but to live the rest of your days here.”
“Wait...cut off?” Hajime mumbles under his breath, thinking back to the door, then to the windows, and realizing, “Are you saying...we're just trapped here? With no hope for escape?”
“Took you guys long enough!” Monokuma laughed out loud. “You can scream, cry, shit your pants, maybe even cum, But no help will come for you! Ahahaha~”
“No not my PANTS!” Nekomaru cries out, gripping his head frantically.
“Uh, excuse me for interrupting,” Sonia speaks up, her calm and collected voice masking her true feelings of terror in this moment. “But, I am not used to such acts in my country, and this no longer is funny. If this is a joke, please do the honorable thing and be honest.”
“You think I’m lying to you!? The one thing I never do is lie, and that’s a bear's promise! You have my word, this is not a joke. You guys are really stuck here forever!”
“Oh, I see...Then that is really disappointing.” Sonia seems to sink in defeat, her features overwhelmed with uncertainty and something akin to silent dread.
“This is not good, Not good indeed. My Four Dark Devas of Destruction cannot live in these conditions! They need the outside world just as any of these pathetic mortals standing beside me. I must implore you to reveal yourself at once and end this foolish nonsense at once!”
“Geez, What anime Did you crawl out of? Whatever! You guys can think whatever you want, but soon enough you’ll see that there's nothing you can do.” Everyone was talking now, as if begging for this to be a dream, but no matter how much they pleaded the answer was always the same. Trapped; No hope of an escape, doomed to live here forever. No matter what. “You all decided to come to Hope’s Peak of your own free will, and now that we’ve almost finished the entrance ceremony you all want to leave? Sheesh. But...Since you're all so desperate...I Suppose There is one way you can leave,” His voice was so condescending but in the end it was the perfect tone to draw everyone in. Everyone simultaneously leaned forwards for the revelation..
“R-really?” Stuttered Akane, who revealed a quiver over her voice. Perhaps even she, who appeared to be unconcerned with the outcome, was secretly as panicked as they were.
“As your headmaster I have created a special clause for those of you who would like to leave this school. It’s called The Graduation clause! ” The bears shoulders hunched over excited, letting out small chuckles of delight. “Now, onto the next fun rule. I said before, in order to live in peace and harmony, we must rely on a communal lifestyle. That is the Graduation Clause. However...If someone were to disrupt that harmony, they alone would be able to leave the school.”
“Do you really expect us to believe it’s that easy for us to leave?” Nagito announced, and as Hajime looked back he noticed how unsettlingly calm he was. No in fact, he was smiling, rather cheerfully in fact. “So what’s the catch?”
“Puhuhu~ Aren’t you a smart cookie. Well, maybe the catch is...Murder.” Somehow he managed to form a cute little smile. However, his words forced the room into an array of gasps and shocked sounds. “Yes indeedy my friends! Stabbing, Strangling, Bludgeoning, crushing, hacking, drowning, igniting, you name it! As long as it ends in a killing, you're on your way to the outside world! That’s it, that’s all you have to do! You must kill someone if you want to leave. . The rest is up to you, Give it your all to achieve your outcome in the worst way possible.”
“M...Murder?” Hajime says, eyes darting around the room and he felt his skin crawl. He grew pale, faint, almost tired. He might have blacked out if he hadn’t felt a soft hand grip it his arm. It was Chiaki, bringing him back to reality. She didn’t say anything, only staring intently at the bear with an unreadable expression. Hajime felt himself swallow hard, but found his courage to glare back at the bear as he continued.
“Yep! Nothing beats a good killing, it’s better than watching Animals do it on the discovery channel! But you know, you guys are the hope of the world. It would be something to see that hope fall so deep into the shadow of despair. AND I JUST FIND THAT SO DAMN EXCITING! AHAHAHA!!”
“A-are you insane!” Akane suddenly shouts, kicking a chair across the room, and balling up her fists, it was like she was about to attack this damn bear. “Killing each other!? We’re not going to do that! Who would be stupid enough too-It’s just plain wrong! You can’t make us do this!” Hajime was glad Nekomaru was holding onto her shoulders, cause he was almost certain if he let her go she’d try to kill Monokuma, and he didn’t want to see what would happen if she tried.
“It is utter nonsense!”
“I will not attempt to kill people I may already consider friends!”
“I don’t have to do anything you fucking say you piece of shit bear!”
“P-Please, I-I just wanna g-go home...P-Please!”
“Mahiru...I’m scaaareeed!”
“You guys just don’t get it do you!” Monokuma growls, starling the room into silence. “You guys keep screaming the same thing. ‘Let us go, let us go, I want to leave.’ From this moment on, this School is your home, your world, your life. Got it? And you can kill as much as you want too! Go stupid Go crazy! Kill as much as you want!”
“I’ve heard enough of this shit.” Fuyuhiko snaps suddenly, is oddly calm and a menacing demeanor confusing the bear, as he approaches him. “No, stupid stuffed bear is going to play around with my life like that.” Before anyone could react Fuyuhiko grabbed Monokuma by the arm and ripped him forwards. “Now you're gonna let me and everyone out of this piece of shit school, or I'M GONNA SMASH YA TO PIECES!”
“Master Fuyuhiko! I think you should-”
“AHHH!” Monokuma cries out, waving his arms frantically. “ Put me down, Put me down! Attacking the Headmaster is against school regulations!”
“Shut the hell up! I don’t live by your rules! Now let us go before I tear you and whoever's controlling you a new asshole.”
Silence, followed by the small miniscule beeps, like something ticking down, or a heart rate monitor.
“Hey! Answer me.”
More silence, but the beeps got faster.
Chiaki gasped beside Hajime which caused him to look over with a bit of shock. “Hey!” She shouts. “Drop it! Drop it now!”
“What!?”
The ticking appeared to be getting faster. Too fast for her liking, She rushed over, grabbing Fuyuhiko by the arm and pulling him away, just as she performed an ultra move! She spins around 360 degrees and swings her foot under and upwards, using the momentum to kick the robot bear up into the air just in time. Just as it nearly collided with the ceiling, the bear self destructed, causing Fuyuhiko to pale at the sight. For everyone else they felt a spark of hope, their ‘headmaster’ was dead... right?
“It’s gone…” Akane said, looking back at the room watching at the smoke cleared, “That means we're safe right?”
However, a familiar voice all but filled them with dread. “Honey I’m home!!!” Like that he appeared, with that snarky grin, setting down a briefcase prop behind the podium and tossing a hat prop into the air. It did nothing but drain the hopes that they wouldn’t have to endure this strange form of torture.
“A-Another one!?” Peko calls out.
Fuyuhiko still appeared to be in a bit of shock, but he managed to utter a very cold response. “You...Son of a bitch did you mean to do that!?”
“What, Kill you?” Monokuma laughed poignantly. “That’s what happens to those of you who get on your high horse and try to hurt your Headmaster. It’s a violation of the school rules, DUH.” Fuyuhiko growled clenching his fists so hard his knuckles grew pale. “Normally I’d finish the job, but I'm feeling a little generous. Take this as a warning to you whippersnappers that try to do what your peer just tried to do.”
“So does that mean there’s more of these things?” Mahiru utters out softly but apparently Monkuma can still hear her because he answers.
“Yes indeedy. There’s more of me in all parts of campus. Plus the surveillance cameras. Just so you know, I’m always, Always watching.” He grins wickedly, unsheathing his claws as a menacing reminder that he very well could do much more than just explode. Hajime didn’t want to know. “Which means, If I see you guy’s breaking the rules, you all know what happens. I don’t like repeating myself anyway. Your punishment will be just as severe, if not worse. So don’t let it happen again.”
“That’s not a punishment. That’s just murder.” It was the first time Hajime heard Chiaki speak up that whole time, it was so determined and almost protective.
“Yeah Yeah anyway, before we conclude this Ceremony, I have a gift. A little present from me to you!” Monokuma would reach under the podium and pull out a cardboard box. He would then waddle to the stage, setting it down, reaching inside and then pulling out what appeared to be some small blue electronic pad. “Tada! These are your E-handbooks! It’s fully digital and is your key to getting around the school! It is absolutely necessary that you keep these on you at all times, as it is vital to your school life here.” He says, walking around the room and passing out everyone's handbooks to them. The group already began to open theirs and go through them.
“Each one has your name in it, so don’t go trading your handbooks now. This notebook does all kinds of cool things, it's practically unbreakable with no flaws or weaknesses whats-so-ever. It’s even waterproof! You can take this baby in the swimming pool, and it’ll look like the day you got it! This neat little thing contains all of the rules and regulations of the schools! So familiarize yourself with the school rules so we don’t have any little mishaps.” He lets out a little sinister chuckle. “Violation of School rules will not be tolerated under any circumstances! The outside world has laws, and when things fall into chaos those laws protect you! Any Violators who disrupt the harmony will be punished. Severely. And with that, this brings this ceremony to a close! Enjoy your school life! Bye!”
And with that, Monokuma disappeared leaving the room in utter...shock. They didn’t know how to react to what just occurred, they were presented with a horrible option and were trapped within a hellscape. Of which they would have to sacrifice someone in order to leave...
Akane was the first to speak up. “What...What just happened…What is this...” She gritted her teeth and clenched her fists, and if she wanted to throw a punch Hajime didn’t want to be in the way of that.
“I think it is very clear what this is…?” Gundham says, finally after being silent for so long. “We are trapped in a sarcophagus. This place is either to become our tomb, our stairway into an even greater hell. With no means to escape we must be forced to live our days peacefully within the walls of our prison, or die trying to escape.” He spoke truthfully and honestly, but even he seemed to be having some trouble coming to terms with this. “No matter the cost...we must survive.”
“To hell with all of you!” Fuyuhiko shouts, pushing past them and leaving the gym entirely. He doesn’t bother to look back at any of them if they attempted to stop him. Not that anyone did, this whole thing had pretty much destroyed them mentally for the day,
“Then what the hell are we supposed to do!” She growls glaring hard at the shiny waxed floor below her. “I don’t wanna be trapped here.”
“We’ll then...you’ll have to kill someone.” Nagito’s voice startles them! His honesty is brutal and yet…
“Hell no! There's gotta; be some other way. We gotta' fight back or something…” Akane spoke with strength, but her voice was weekend by the silence, no one taking her side, everyone too afraid to face Monokuma. No one is willing to test the waters.
“The fact it…” Nagito begins, letting out a tiny sigh. “We only have two options. We must endure this, or sacrifice one of our classmates to leave.” Despite his intense yet honest words his smile did not seem to fade from his lips, and everyone seemed drawn to his strange charismatic way of speaking. It angered them, and yet fighting against such words seemed futile. “There’s nothing else we can do, and none of you can tell me at least one of us hasn’t at least considered the idea ever since Monokuma brought it up. Am I wrong?” It was then at that moment, the 15 students in the room of class 77-B realized that...everyone around them was a potential enemy. The room was filled with an intense beat of hostility and betrayal. Which one of them would make the first move. Which one of them would-
“No one’s going to kill each other.” Chikai spoke up, against her own fears. Against her own doubts, a part of her not wanting to believe one of them would do something like this.
“I’d like to believe that too.” Nagito says, crossing his arms. “But, in this situation anything can happen. With 16 people confined within this small space, one of us is bound to make one mistake that might lead to the death of one of our fellow classmates.” Nagito was...right. And Hajime furiously hated that. “Hey don’t look so glum. If you want to avoid murder and try looking for some other way to escape… I think you could do it. As Ultimate's you can do anything! You few students are the hope the world has this left! With you all working so hard there's nothing you guys can’t achieve!” His eyes swirled almost with something ...uncomfortable. He spoke so kindly, but his eyes betrayed his words. It was like he had some ulterior motive at hand. “I mean, I don’t think there’s much I can do, My talent is just luck if you can even call it that, but if you guys need help with anything just tell me. I want to see hope triumph over this despair! You can do it!”
With that Nagito left, even though his words were meant to be up lifting It left an unsettling bitter taste in Hajime’s mouth. It seemed like no matter what they attempted to do, it was utterly hopeless. They were defeated, by a black and white bear and this rotten school. This was not a school of hope, this was a school of despair and they were caught in the middle of a war they knew nothing about. Does one simply give up and succumb to this new way of life?
“This is not ideal.” The voice of the Ultimate Breeder caught his attention but Hajime could not seem to remove his eyes from his pitiful looking shoes. But it seemed like that was all he had to say. No one had words to spare about their current situation. Truthfully, they were all mentally and physically exhausted. Regardless if this was morning, or night,, or whatever time of day, all any of them wished was to do nothing as the terrifying news sank in. Hajime however, was tired. He just wanted to sleep, at least to get some things off his mind.
Slowly, they began to depart from the gym and headed...well who knows. Hajime, could not care what the other did, painfully he wondered if someone would actually commit a murder, but even then he was to tired to care. It was like his body was so heavy and his mind was so deeply depressed he was only focused on the thought of sleep. So he headed to his room, which was labeled by a name plate with an oddly designed drawing of himself. Either way, it opened without a problem.
His room was surprisingly empty. The walls were made of this out of place pink wall paper, and the floors were blue. It was honestly the worst combination he’d ever seen but he couldn’t be bothered to care. He plops himself on the bed and sighs heavily as soon as he hits the mattress. A heavy sigh leaves his lips, ready to take a nap but something tugs at the inside of his brain. The rules and regulations. He opens his e-handbook and he is presented with his name, and surprisingly, underneath is his Ultimate title! Or...rather where it should have been. It was simply labeled ‘Ultimate … ???’. “Blank?” He blinked in confusion. He didn’t expect there to be his ultimate title written inside at all, let alone the fact that it teased the idea that he wasn;t supposed to know. Did Monokuma do this?
But to what end? What reason would there be to hide this information from the others. Or himself for that matter. Why couldn’t he remember? He had to have an Ultimate, right? He was a student here...He had to be. He groans, deciding to look at the rules later and turns over to sleep, when he comes face to face with Monokuma! “AAAHHH!” Hajime shriek, falling out of his bed and onto the floor. He quite literally wasn’t expecting that.
“Boy if, I knew you were this easy to scare I would have Knocked!”
Hajime groaned, hearing the sound of pitter patter and the squeak of his bed. When he sat up he saw Monokuma sitting on his bed and cutlery kicking his feet back and forth. “What do you want?” Hajime grumbled stairing with nothing but hatred into that bear.
“Geez kids, if looks could kill- Well you’d be on your way to graduation!” Somehow Hajime’s frown seemed to be able to deepen. “ I actually didn’t expect anyone to come back to their rooms this early. Most of your classmates are out exploring their new home! But if you wanna waste your time and avoid death I suppose staying in your room is a great way to start. But this is why I’m really here.” Monokuma reaches behind him and like something out of a video game he pulls a large slip of paper from nowhere.
Hajime takes the paper and realizes it looks like some school wide note. ‘ Announcement from Headmaster Monokuma:
All rooms have a lock that has been designed to completely protect against tampering. Or lock-picking. Remaking an individual lock-key is quite troublesome so please make sure not to lose yours. Your room comes furnished with an individual shower but please note that the water is turned off at night time. Also the locks in the girls bathroom include a lock of their own. Finally, we’ve provided a gift for each of you. For the girls, a sewing kit. For the boys a tool kit. The sewing kit provides a map of the vital organs. One stab will do the Job Girls! For the boys, we believe a strong blow to the head with any tools should be ample. Don’t Think, Just feel! And Let’s all enjoy ourselves!’
Hajime frowned at such a detestable implication. Monokuma was serious about this whole thing huh? Just then he was also handed a Key, this must be the lock for his room. “I would also recommend locking your door to keep out unwanted visitors. That is if you wanna stay alive!”
“Does it keep you out?” Hajime asks, not even realizing he said it until he finished his sentence. Did he really say that?
“No, Unfortunately for you. Puhuhuhu~” Monokuma suddenly hopped off the bed and began to waddle away. “Sweet dreams kid!” Before He could attempt to say anything more Monokuma had left without another word. Hajime crumbled the piece of paper and tossed it across the room, not caring if it hit the can or not. Once more he sat on his bed, loosening his tie and laying back on the bed. He very briefly eyed the drawer, debating on whether to look inside or not for said tool kit. But...he didn’t really care otherwise. He wasn’t going to murder anyone. No matter what that stupid bear said.
But even then, even he knew that it was just a matter of time before... But Hajime didn’t want to think about that. He didn’t want to think that high school students were capable of murder. Shaking his head he laid down and closed his eyes, falling asleep more easily than he expected. As soon as his head hit the pillow, he was dreaming of koi fish in a relaxing pond during the rain.
