Work Text:

Mono ran as fast as he could. The Viewer was still chasing him down. Why?! He hated this, hated hated hated it. He didn't want to be corrupted or used by The Viewer! He turned a corner thinking it was another path but it was a dead end. Come on! Mono whipped his head around and panted heavily seeing The Viewer catch up to him. Mono whimpered and curled into a ball to protect himself. He didn't want to die! Unbeknownst to him, he was sending off waves of the Statik, a lot stronger than the Signal Tower will ever produce.

The Viewer screeched and went to grab the boy, but the Statik overwhelmed him. It felt so good! More, it wanted more! The Statik seemed to respond to him and basically secreted from Mono, washing over the Viewer and lulling him into a dull stupefied state. It eroded The Viewer's face even more, making his face twist and turn into itself. But The Viewer didn't care, he wanted more of the Statik. So the Statik obeyed The Viewer and kept washing over him.

But what The Viewer didn't notice was that the corruption was spreading to his entire body. It was eroding everything, and The Viewer was in too much of a daze to notice. The Statik kept him calm, even as his body was withering away before him.

Mono was watching all of this in pure horror. The Viewer was deteriorating right before his eyes. And he didn't even seem to care. Mono whimpered and backed up into the corner even more, looking at The Viewer withering away before him.

The Viewer seemed content to just let himself wither into nothingness, but something snapped inside him. Probably the last string of humanity he had left. It told him to stop, to get away, to move from the Statik because it was literally killing him. But The Viewer wouldn't listen, until he felt a pain in his hand. It shocked him, and he held up his hand to see what was wrong.

And he screamed.

He was turning to dust, the Statik had sucked up all his energy and now it was eating up his physical body. The Viewer screamed in pure agony as the Transmission and the Statik washed over him and ate up his body, Mono watching in horror. Until he was nothing more than a pile of dust and a pile of clothes.

Mono breathed heavily, scarred from what just happened. He didn't mean to destroy The Viewer, he swear he didn't! He didn't want to hurt them, Mono had a good heart. Didn't he?

The boy panted and got up shakily, the rain still pouring like always. He looked down into a puddle and gasped.

Inside wasn't his reflection.

It was The Thin Man's.

Mono panted and slapped at the water, but the reflection of the terrifying man wouldn't go away. What did this mean? Why would Mono's reflection be-

Mono stopped thinking. He didn't want to consider that possible conclusion. So he ignored the puddle and kept running.

He isn't a monster.

Right?

Notes:

Poor Mono...
and in case you don't get what the hell just happened, The viewer turned into dust like Thin Man did in the final battle, it was just under different circumstances.
