Work Text:
One thing the Miyuki household didn’t expect to happen was having a baby. Well, they did want children but they thought adopting was their only choice, not Eijun being pregnant as a male as a choice.
In a world where only females were the only ones capable of reproduction, Sawamura Eijun must’ve been a God in his past life to acquire such miracles to be pregnant. It was unknown to the world how it happened, for a male with no eggs, no proper female reproductive system, and just nothing, to begin with, to be able to pull that off. But apparently, Sawamura Eijun possessed all of the above. If anything other than a miracle, it was a risk, a gamble that had the slimmest chance of succeeding.
"Well, if you had sperm buried deep inside of you every day, it shouldn’t be a surprise." Eijun had bluntly explained in one of his interviews when the news of him, a Japan's number one Supermodel in the entertainment industry for ten years, was engaged to Japan's most famous Michelin Star Chef, Miyuki Kazuya broke out. To make it even more scandalous, the supermodel was bearing a child with him.
It was a huge shock, for both the entertainment and the foodservice industry. The people knew of them, knew that they were just guests on a special episode of a weekly show together years ago, so no one thought too much about it—yet five years later, news of them being in a relationship and engaged blew up throughout Japan. It was a huge shock and everyone doubted they’ll get over it so soon.
It was hard to believe, really, for Eijun to start showing up to work with a bump in his belly, clearly shown underneath a T-Shirt he normally wore to work. It was uncomfortable, and almost upsetting that every time he tried to change out of his clothes, the stylists would stare him down in an impossible shock. Gossips were spread too quickly within the industry, and he knew, he knew that it would risk his career being in the situation he and his fiance had put themselves in.
When it was a few months before his due date, it was exhausting and impossible for him to keep working, he retired from the industry. Kazuya had tried to talk him through it, it would’ve been fine if he only asked for maternity leave, and came back when he was ready to work again but Eijun refused.
Eijun knew it was a huge decision. He spent weeks dwelling on it, and in the end, he decided to retire from the awful yet so passionate industry to pursue being a housewife—or husband. Of course, it was bitter, he spent almost half of his life being in the spotlight, entertaining people with his looks and talents, he loved his job whether or not the industry wasn't perfect like it seemed to be.
But he did not regret it. Not one bit. Eijun counted it as a blessing, to be able to bear a child with the love of his life.
That being said, after his retirement, no one had ever seen or heard of Sawamura Eijun, the only thing they ever heard was the wedding was exclusive to only family and friends, and how Eijun was close to his due date.
That changed when Eijun was rushed to the hospital with his water broke in the middle of the day, his contractions kicked in at the last minute and it was a disaster. The nurses spent hours trying to open him up but it was nearly impossible. By the time he was ready to push, he’d lost most of his energy, however…
“Oh. My. God!!! MIYUKI KAZUYA! I swear to the FUCKING God!” Eijun screamed on top of his lungs. Kazuya held one of his hands to keep him balanced and distracted from the pain. “I will rip you apart if that’s the last thing I do!”
“Sawamura-san, deep breaths, please, you are tightening again!” One of the nurses instructed, she had her hand resting on his big belly, rubbing circles, and waited for Eijun to take deep breaths as she told him to. “Miyuki-san, please bear with us for a while, I think he will be a bit violent in this situation.”
Violent? If it was Eijun, being violent in his definition should be fine. “Okay, I got it—”
“ARGH!! You fucking son of a BITCH KAZUYA!” Eijun pulled onto Kazuya’s arm until he could bite onto the flesh, hard and sturdy until there were marks with deep red seeping through. “I WILL KILL YOU, YOU FUCKING BASTARD!!!”
Okay, what the fuck?!?!! Kazuya screamed in his head. “O-Ow! Eijun!”
“Okay, Sawamura-san, inhale… exhale…”
“You BASTARD!!!” Eijun then reached out to yank on his husband’s hair, hands buried deep into the locks and pulled with strength. “ARHG!!!! THIS HURT SO MUCH!!! MIYUKI KAZUYA! I WON’T FUCKING FORGIVE YOU FOR PUTTING ME THROUGH THIS.”
“OW! E-Eijun! Honey— it hurts!!!”
“HURT? CAN YOU COMPARE THAT TO THIS— OW! MY GOD! FUCK .”
“That’s it… Sawamura-san… keep taking deep breaths! We’re seeing the head now!”
How did the nurses act so normal when Kazuya was really getting his head ripped off?! ‘A bit’ violent?! Bullshit! Okay, deep breaths, Kazuya told himself. He couldn’t compare this small pain with Eijun’s current one, it was different. He rather be bald than be pushing a Goddamn baby out of his ass right now. He bit his lips and let his body be violated with Eijun's laborious violence.
“The head is coming out! You’re doing great, Sawamura-san! Just keep breathing, inhale and exhale for me okay?” The nurse encouraged as she tried to relax Eijun. Eijun was struggling between breathing and cursing the fuck out of his damned husband. “That’s right… Just like that.”
At one point, Eijun had stopped his violent manners due to a drain of energy, and now, he was just crying. He was no longer yanking on Kazuya’s hair but holding onto his hands instead. His breaths were ragged and tears kept on falling onto his cheeks, making his skin so sticky. His emotions were switched, instead of being angry, he was scared, anxious, and a mess . “K-Kazuya… I don’t know if I can do this…”
Startled by the change of emotions, Kazuya tightened his grip on Eijun’s hands, kissing the knuckles as he encouraged him, “Honey, what are you talking about? You’re doing so great right now.”
“AH! It hurts! It hurts so bad. I can’t do this anymore!”
“Sawamura-san! You can’t tighten up! The baby will be in danger!” The nurse panicked as she tried to get him to relax. “Take deep breaths for me please, you can do it. Inhale...Exhale…”
The nurses started to panic too with Eijun struggling to keep himself composed, to the point where two of them started to prepare for C-Section labor but it was too late. He was already in mid-labor, and if he had to do a C-Section right now, it would risk both the mother’s and the child’s lives.
Eijun had started to sweat like crazy, he was trembling and his breaths were so rugged and short like he was on verge of hyperventilating. His grip from holding his husband’s hand tightened, even more, when he was told to push out. “K-Kazuya... I don’t think I can…”
“Eijun, listen to me,” Kazuya said, he inched forward until his face was close to his spouse, he brought Eijun’s hands to his lips and kissed the knuckles. “Deep breaths okay? You’ve been doing such an amazing job, you know that? So amazing honey, and I need you to be stronger for me and our kid, okay?” He leaned in to push Eijun’s sweaty bangs back and then planted a kiss on his forehead. “I love you so much, you’re giving birth to the soon-to-be best baby in the world and I am so blessed to have you and our kid in my life. I know you can do it Eijun.”
With that being said, the process was rough, it felt like an eternity with Eijun laying in the hospital bed groaning and screaming in pain and struggle as he tried to push out the baby. He was almost overdosed with epidural and almost fainted along the way but after hours of hard labor, he finally managed to give birth safely—despite being in many risky situations. After Kazuya cut the umbilical cord—while crying like a baby— Eijun passed out after one glance at his newborn.
Her name was Nana.
♡♢♧♤
“Honey! That’s not how you change her diaper! The wipes! The wipes! Oh my god—”
“Eijun! Help! It’s getting everywhere— Woah! Ew— I mean calm down Nana!!”
Nana giggled to herself as she watched her dad through the recorder, a whole clutz as he tried to change her diaper for the very first time. She laid her stomach flat on the floor with her elbows propped to hold the recorder in her tiny hands, legs swinging in the air.
“Na-chan! Are you still watching that clip? Move on already! If pa-chan sees you, he will be very embarrassed!” Eijun called out from the kitchen, now and then to steal glances from Nana for supervision.
“But pa-chan was so funny! I just have to watch it again!”
“—I mean calm dawn, Nana!” The recorder projected, showing a crying Kazuya holding up a baby’s legs to clean off the nasty. “You pooped and now you’re peeing?! Eijun!!!—”
“—Woah woah woah! What are you watching?!” Kazuya popped out from the shower, rushing to where his daughter was and snatched the recorder away. Nana was still laughing as she rolled over to her back, hands clutching on her belly. “Na-chan! How many times are you going to watch the videos?!”
“It’s so funny! You were so scared!”
“Hey hey! Changing diapers is scary okay?! You don’t know how bad it was! I’m so glad that you’re all grown up now.”
“Yes! I am so grateful that you are old enough now to use the restroom by yourself!” Eijun agreed as he stirred the curry pot.
Kazuya laid down next to his daughter and pulled her up in the air before laying her down to lay on him, hugging her tightly in his arms. “Yes, taking care of you was so hard! You wouldn’t stop crying every night and your mother couldn’t sleep with you being so clingy!” He patted her back and said softly, making sure Eijun wouldn’t hear what he was about to say, “Did you know Eijun was hospitalized a few times due to exhaustion?”
“Really?” Nana peeked up from her bangs.
“Really, your mother doesn’t want you to know but it was tough on him, giving birth to you was a risk, but taking care of a baby was almost impossible but look at you now, you grew up to be the World’s most adorable daughter!” Kazuya tickled her as she laughed heartedly into his chest.
“Dinner is ready, you two! Go wash your hands!” Eijun screamed, startling the father and his daughter in his wake as he served the food on the dinner table.
As they ate, the news was playing on their brand new and expensive TV, and it reminded Eijun of something important. “Right, Na-chan, don’t you have Sports Day Festival coming up?” Eijun grabbed a chunk of crab salad, placed them in his daughter’s bowl, and then to his husband. “It’s in two weeks right?”
“Yes! Mama!” Nana beamed, she sat right up and faced her parents with hopeful eyes. “You both—” She paused. “Can you both make it? Especially you, papa.”
Kazuya took a minute and thought to himself while Eijun just smiled. “I’m pretty sure I can, it might be a bit hard for me to leave the house but I’ll try!”
“I’ll try… Just let me know the days okay? I’ll try to clear up my schedule and—”
“It’s okay if you can’t papa!” Nana interrupted. Though she was the one who asked, she knew her parents—especially her dad— would be busy to attend. It was fine, it wasn’t like parents were mandatory to attend, she could just do the tournament by herself—
“Hey now, I said I can right?” Eijun said when he noticed the hidden emotion underneath his daughter’s cheerful face. He reached out with his free hand to hold Nana’s tiny one. “Even if pa-chan can’t go, you still have me right? And your uncles too, I’m sure they’d come!”
“Okay!”
“So do you know what events you are doing?”
“Yes! I am participating in…”
——
Kazuya could not make it, and Eijun could only attend in the afternoon near the end of the festival. So now holding Nana’s hand was Haruichi as they walked to the next event in a big crowd of parents and students. Furuya had a cam recorder around his hand as he walked behind them, capturing the moment for the missing parents.
“Nana-chan, we still have time before your next event, do you want some light snacks?” Haruichi asked, pointing at one of the food stans.
“I’m good! I have 800 meters run next so if I eat now, I’d get a stomachache!”
“That’s fair, what do you want to do then?”
“Can we take pictures? I want to show mama and papa later!”
“Yes, of course.” Haruichi smiled, knowing that the little girl is somewhat disappointed at the absence of her parents while her friends and other students’ parents were present. She hid it really well, he noticed, just like her mother . “Then, Nana-chan, can I carry you like I always did?”
Nana beamed, “Yes! Please! I want Furu-san to carry me too!”
After taking pictures, Nana prepared herself for the run with Furuya behind her helping her stretch. During the run, she had almost slipped and lost her place but on the second lap, she suddenly shouted Oshi Oshi Oshi and sprinted until she snatched the first place, making the boys behind her groan in jealousy.
Nana grabbed her medal then tiredly jogged to her uncles, but on the way, she saw a familiar figure standing next to them. The said figure was covered up head to toe, with black shades and mask to cover their face, but she knew who it was—because they were fist-bumping the air while shouting Oshi Oshi Oshi.
“Mama!” She ran towards him with the very last bit of her energy and jumped into his arms. “I thought you couldn’t make it until the afternoon! It’s barely after morning!”
“Hehe, I finished my things at home so now I’m here! I’m glad I didn’t miss your run, you did great!” Eijun said through the mask as he wiped the sweat off of Nana’s face. “Is it almost break time? Should we eat some food? I made some of your favorite snacks.”
“Please! I am starving, I haven’t eaten anything yet.”
“But we offered—” Furuya started to say but Haruichi elbowed him, cutting him off with a shake of his head.
Nana was born with athletic talents, just like her parents, she participated in almost every event there were at their not-so-famous elementary school, and she won in almost all of them. Furuya was getting tired of holding onto those tangly medals so he just put them into a tote bag Haruichi had carried with him, earning a fearful glare for not being careful with them. Now that they were at lunch break, meaning only one more student event before the festival ends with a parent event.
“What should we do? I didn’t pack enough lunch, should we do delivery—” Eijun had started to say after they had picked out a perfect spot until he was cut off with a familiar voice.
“No worry! I brought more than enough lunch for the five of us!”
“Honey!” Eijun turned around in shock. Kazuya had shown up in disguise just like himself, covering head to toe to avoid any public confrontations since nobody knew Nana’s parents were famous people except for the school’s staff. “I thought you can’t come today! What happened?”
“Ah, that, um— I got off early today, Kuramochi decided to cover for me, hehe~” Kazuya scratched the back of his head, showing his cheeky grin. He then lifted the big lunch box. “So… Can we go somewhere else private?”
They settled down at the back of the school near the back of the gyms, with a big mat laid on the ground, and started to unpack the lunch boxes. Despite being busy with work, Kazuya still made time to prepare all the food including everyone’s favorites. With both parents present, Nana could finally take some photos together with them, just the last boost of motivation she needed before taking the last medal home with her placing first in the hundred-meter dash.
“Nana! You are so awesome! My baby girl is so athletic!” Kazuya stated proudly, swinging her in the air while Eijun recorded the wholesome scene. “What did we do to deserve you—”
“Attention all parents! Our last event, baseball, will be held soon! All parents who are participating, please head to the field starting now.” The announcer projected loudly through the school’s speaker poles.
“Baseball,” Kazuya repeated. “Nana, your Parent Participation Event is Baseball? How come you didn’t say anything?”
“That’s because you said you couldn’t make it,” Eijun answered, his arms stretching above his head to untangle the knots in his spine. “She told me last week.”
“Are you participating?” Kazuya asked, his tone was filled with shock.
“Why not? It’s been a while, I’m pretty sure I can still play even though I barely had time to practice this week. Are you?”
“I will—”
“Eijun-kun, will you be okay?” Haruichi interrupted with a question, he rested a hand on Eijun’s hip, and that action spoke a thousand words. “You don’t have to force yourself. I or Furuya can fill in for you.”
Eijun smiled, “I’m fine, Harucchi. I wanna try feeling the ball in my hand again, besides, it’s a perfect chance that I get to play with Kazuya in a proper game like this again.” When Haruichi didn’t let go, Eijun grabbed his hand and squeezed it. “I’m fine, really, if anything, I’ll get a switch out right away, okay?”
Haruichi sighed and let go. The air was heavy, they all knew what could happen, they were worried, but what can they do? Once Sawamura(Miyuki) Eijun were set on something, even if you offered him the world, he wouldn’t back down. The silence was almost uncomfortable, Nana looked at her uncles and then her parents, clearly confused and couldn’t catch what they were talking about, she then tugged Eijun’s shirt and asked, “What? Is mama hurt? What happened? Are you not going to participate?”
“Nothing, honey.” Eijun crouched down, smoothing out Nana’s baby hairs. “You’re going to watch mama and papa play! We’re going to win this game and bring home that big medal!”
“It’s not a serious game, Eijun, it’s an elementary school event, go easy on them—” Furuya said.
“Let’s go!”
They arrived at the field after a small banter between the Miyuki couple, they were deciding on their plays until Haruichi had to split them up with Eijun pouting his lips in a fit of anger while Kazuya scratching the back of his head acting like he didn’t care. The coaches had asked each parent for each position they wanted to play in, and luckily, no one seemed to have liked the battery position.
They were still not talking to each other despite being a battery, they each separated to put on their gears, and not once have they glanced or exchanged a word with each other. Seeing this, Nana got worried and turned to Haruichi, “Haru-chin! Will mama and papa be fine? They’re not looking or talking to each other!!”
“They’re fine, you just have to watch how your parents will win the game okay?”
Nana watched. Out on the field, on the defense right now were her parents— the funny and weirdly looking battery that still had their sunglasses and masks on, covered head to toe as they started to warm up from the mound and the catcher box. Even from far away, she could tell the tension her parents had, she was used to it, for whenever her parents had small banters, she’d be the one in the middle, fixing the problem. Though the cause was almost always her annoying father. She turned to her uncle, “But they’re—”
“Strike! Batter out!”
Nana immediately whipped her head back to the empire’s call. Her eyes widened in shock. She took her eyes off the field only for two minutes, and they were already switching. A three for three, she remembered Eijun said a few times during last week. ‘We don’t look like it but your father and I could win a whole game of nine innings just by ourselves'. She always thought her mother was just saying for the sake of entertaining her—not that her parents ever lied when it came to things like that— but seeing the performance in person, she was just speechless.
She watched carefully when Kazuya was up at bat, his full home run took everyone’s breath away, and when it was followed by Eijun’s miracle home run, the event ended with a called game. The Miyuki was the talk of the evening after they received their gold medals, a weirdly looking couple won the game with the pitching and home runs alone. Nana never felt so proud before, her chest heaved with excitement and happiness as she watched her parents walking back to her.
“Mama! Papa!” She screamed, earning a handful of glances from her surroundings, but she could care less, her parents were so darn cool! Cooler than anyone she ever knew. “You were so cool!!! How did you do that?! Mama! Your arm went like woosh! And then it landed in papa’s mitt like paom! And then the home runs!!! You guys were so cool!!!”
“Woah woah, calm down Nana! Breathe!” Kazuya laughed. Despite not getting along before the game, they were doing pretty good with Kazuya’s arm wrapped around Eijun’s waist to pull him in closer. “Your mother and I went to high school together, and we were unbeatable! And still are.”
Nana's eyes were practically glowing with glitters, she wanted to keep on talking about the game on the spot if it weren’t for the school’s announcement that the festival had ended, and they were getting ready to leave.
“Well, are you content with all these medals? Should we leave and have a party with your papa paying?” Eijun’s eyes twinkled with mischief.
“Yes!!!”
♡♢♧♤
“I’m home…” Nana announced weakly after entering the house with Kuramochi followed behind her. She slid off her backpack and quietly climbed upstairs to her room. Eijun trotted to the corridor and gave Kuramochi a look.
“I don’t know what happened…” He started, eyes wandering anywhere else but Eijun. The housewife continued to stare at him with his arms crossed, waiting for an appropriate answer. “Okay! God, stop giving me that look, you remind me so much of that bastard.”
Eijun scoffed. “Yea, whatever, so?”
Kuramochi sighed, he ran his hands through his wild green hair. “Nana...she told me that she…”
“She…”
“Bullied. She got bullied.”
“She what?!” Eijun almost screamed. He came right in front of Kuramochi and asked again. “She what?!”
“Jesus! Personal space! Personal space!” Kuramochi pushed Eijun out of his face. He couldn’t blame him though, he was as shocked and mad as Eijun when he first heard it from Nana herself. She would always tell him her troubles—not that she didn’t trust her parents, if the troubles were related to them, Kuramochi would be the first and hopefully last to hear her. “Apparently, the boys whom she beat in that damn Sports Day festival got jealous and intimidated so they ganged up on her now and then.” He grunted, clearly pissed just saying it out loud. No one should ever bully his little nephew, how could they?! Nana was such an angel! So adorable and lovely!
“I see… Thank you. Would you like to stay for dinner?” Eijun said, his voice was too calm for someone who just heard his daughter had gotten bullied. If Kuramochi didn’t know any better, he would’ve thought Eijun didn’t care, but he knew what’s hidden under that calm voice of Eijun.
“No, thank you. I have a night shift today, that bastard of yours should be home soon.” Kuramochi turned around and grabbed onto the doorknob. “Also, don’t tell her I told you, she doesn’t want you to know so give her some time.”
“Alright… Have a safe trip.” Eijun said. When Kuramochi almost left, he called out. “Thank you.” With a wave of his hand, Kuramochi left the Miyuki household.
——
“Hey, can I come in?” Kazuya knocked on his daughter’s door. They had finished dinner—with an extremely awkward and heavy atmosphere— and Nana had locked herself in her room due to studying for a test.
“Papa? Ah yes! Give me a second, please.” He heard her muffled. The books slamming against each other were painfully loud, but it wasn’t loud enough to drown out the little sniffles coming inside the room. “Please come in!”
“I brought you some refreshments and just want to check on your studying.” Kazuya set down a tray of snacks on the floor table, then sat on the bed. “Come here and sit next to me.”
Nana complied, she stood up from her study desk and sat next to her father. She took one of the cookies and nibbled at it, distracting herself from the emotions that threatened to come out. Her father was in her room, she knew what he was here for. The lack of energy and enthusiasm she presented during dinner was enough to bring her father here.
“So… What happened?”
Nana bit down her lips as tears started to brim her somewhat swollen eyes. She couldn’t hold it in, she hadn’t mastered the skills of masking her emotions yet like her mother, so when she was confronted at her weakest, she broke. Slowly, she started to cry. “S-Someone saw mama hic a-at school d-during the hic festival—” She turned to Kazuya and bawled in his chest.
“Someone saw mama? That’s normal right? Eijun was really loud.”
“N-No! T-They made fun of h-him! Because I-I…” She cried out, her body trembling with guilt. “Because I c-called him mama! A-And mama is o-only used f-for girls!”
“...And…?”
“M-Mama got bullied because of m-me! Papa, what should I-I do?! D-Do I— Should I start calling mama ‘papa’? So he d-doesn’t get bullied?!” She looked up at him with teary eyes, her cheeks wet with tears and snot coming out of her pink nose.
“Nana-chan, my dear daughter,” He hugged her tighter, a hand patting her head. “Do you think mama will be sad over this?” She shook her head. “What about you not calling him mama anymore?” She nodded. “Nana, Eijun doesn’t care what anyone else thinks but you. So if you start feeling like this and stop calling him what you’ve been taught, do you think he will be sad?”
“M-Mama w-won’t get sad o-or mad..?”
“What do you think? If Eijun doesn’t care what other people think about him, do you think he’ll get sad? He only cares what people think of you. He wants everything to be great for you. So as long as you are happy and do what you truly believe in, do you think he’ll be sad?”
“N-No…”
“That’s right! Now go to sleep, if you wake up with a puffy face tomorrow, Eijun will be really sad! You don’t want mama to be sad right?” Kazuya wiped his daughter’s face and tucked her in after she finished crying.
“So? What’s the real problem?” Eijun asked once Kazuya entered their bedroom.
“You.” Kazuya simply stated as he settled down next to Eijun, immediately laid his head onto Eijun’s lap. “She was worried about the bullying you were getting at school because she called you mama and the boys heard her.”
“What? Seriously? I don’t even care—”
“I know, but she was feeling bad and very guilty about it. You know how she is, however, she never mentioned her getting bullied, she didn’t care one bit and she only cared about you. She really takes after you when it comes to personality.”
“We don’t deserve her.”
“What should we do?”
After a few moments, Eijun finally spoke. “We’re gonna do it.”
“Do it...?”
The next day, when it was her pick-up time, Nana stood by the building’s wall with her back against it. Kuramochi was unexpectedly a bit late today. With her parents busy, Kuramochi had always been the one to pick her up from school and she loved it. Because she wasn’t picked up in a car but a motorcycle instead. She always thought Kuramochi was a cool uncle and she loved him.
“Hey look! It’s the girl who called her dad ‘mama’! And doesn't she have two dads?” One of the boys from faraway called out.
“Isn’t ‘mama’ what you called for girls? Her parents were so weird! They were all covered up as if they were hiding something! Hahaha!”
Hold it, Nana breathed out. They’re jealous!
“I bet she was adopted!”
“Hey, isn’t that too much?” Another boy countered. “Wait, who would adopt her? Hahaha!!”
Nana wanted to cry. Darn these bullies! They dared make fun of her parents! When it felt like she was going to lose it, her name was called from far away.
Nana expected her cool uncle to arrive at her school with a motorcycle as always, yet this time, a familiar black Tesla was parked right in front of her school, attracting many and many attentions. Her local elementary school was small, they lived in quite a quiet and peaceful neighborhood too, so having such an expensive-looking car parked in the middle of a run-down facility was weird.
That was her family car, one of them.
Standing by the driver’s seat with the door opened was Kazuya, this time, he wasn’t covered up. He was dressed in a black dress shirt with two buttons undone, a black expensive slacks, and a pair of also expensive shoes. Kazuya closed the car’s door and made his way to the passenger seat. Nana crooked her head in shock. Not only her father came, but her mother also came! Eijun was matching with Kazuya except his shirt was white.
God, they dressed up just to pick Nana up from this run-down school!
“Hey! Isn’t that the Michelin Star Chef Miyuki Kazuya and former Japan’s number one Supermodel Sawamura Eijun?! How come they’re at this school?!” One of the parents beside Nana said.
“Wait! Chef Miyuki! Oh my god! I love him! I watch his show every weekend!” Nana heard one of the boys who were just making fun of her said. She turned her head to him. What?
“Me too! That’s also Sunshine Eijun! My sister loved him! His magazine stories were so good!”
Woah, what the heck? These boys who bullied her were fans of her parents? And they were just making fun of them!
She turned back to her parents who already made their way into the school, attracting attention everywhere, stopping here and there to take pictures and sign on things. “Papa! Mama—”
“E-Excuse me! Can I take a picture and an autograph?! Please!” The boy said, already beating Nana to it as he and his friends crowded around her parents.
“Me too!”
“Sorry boys! I’m here to pick up my kid!” Kazuya said, raising his hands in a defeated manner. “We’ve got somewhere to go!”
“Who—”
“Nana-chan! Are you ready to go, baby?” Eijun called out with a mischievous smirk.
“N-Nana?! Her?!”
“Mama!” Nana ran to him, pushing through the bullies.
Eijun carried him up into his arms, then turned to the boys. “This is my daughter! I gave birth to her and I am very proud of her! She’s the world to me so make sure you treat her well, okay?” Eijun’s statements were loud and clear.
“Nana, we’re—”
“Sorry!” Nana shouted, and for the first time, she seemed to have inherited her father’s infamous ‘shotty’ personality, “I’m busy! We’ve got somewhere else to go! Let’s go! Papa, mama!”
With that, they walked away with Nana having the biggest smug on her face, but what can she do? She felt so happy and her parents were so darn cool!
♡♢♧♤
“Nana! You’re going to fall!” Haruichi panicked as he tried to catch Nana if she ever fell. The Christmas tree they bought was way too high for Nana’s safety yet the girl wanted to plant the star by herself. Kuramochi was already feeling lightheaded from the fear Nana had put him in and was now lying limp on the couch. Furuya and Haruichi were frantically standing on both sides of the trees, ready to catch their angel.
“They’re so silly!” Eijun laughed as he watched, he pulled his cardigan closer while leaning against his husband. They were currently watching from the kitchen, laughing at the so-cool-and-collected uncles panicked with Nana putting herself in mild danger.
Kazuya wasn’t watching them, though, he was watching Eijun—the love of his life— like Eijun was the only true angel he had ever seen. Eijun was always a smiley person, yet sometimes he had these underlying emotions he didn’t want to show. “Are you happy?”
Eijun paused, he turned around and faced his husband with that bright smile of his. “What do you mean? I am very happy!”
“You know what I mean,” Kazuya brought his hand up to cup Eijun’s cheek, feeling the warmth of his skin spreading onto his palm. “Eijun, you’ve done so much for me and Nana you know that? You gave me a second chance, gave me a family, sacrificed your dream career, and your body for us. Do you know how much we are indebted to you?”
“Kazuya…”
“You’re always smiling, masking your emotions like that, don’t you think I know?”
“Why are you suddenly…”
“I love you,” Kazuya’s sudden affection had Eijun blushing from head to toe. It was close to midnight, only a few more minutes until Christmas. Kazuya decided to reenact their first and second confession in celebration of their also eleventh anniversary together.
Eijun never thought about his sacrifices, he just wanted to do his best for his one and only family. Never had he complained that he missed working for his dream career that he had left behind, never had he complained about the hardships of being a househusband and a mother , and never had he ever complained about not being able to fully play baseball—the only thing that connected him and Kazuya when they first met—ever again.
He was happy, and that was all it mattered. He had Kazuya by his side, he had Nana, the World’s best daughter that he was blessed to have, and his amazing friends who stayed by his side from day one. He didn’t need anything else, he was happy.
“I love you too.”
