Work Text:

“Na-chan, you remember what Mama said?” Eijun asked, his hands were busy adjusting the straps of Nana’s backpack on her tiny shoulders. When Nana nodded her head, he continued, “Can you repeat what Mama said then?”

“Mama said to not follow stwangers, and ask for h-help if Nana does not know the way.” Nana slurred her words.

“Great! And do you have your sheet? Do you have your hat? Do you remember how to ask for items?”

“Yes! Mama! Nana is ready to go!” Nana saluted after putting on her bucket hat, eager to go on her first errand and graduate from being a baby

“Alright, alright.” Eijun adjusted her hat, folding the material up so it won't block the kid’s vision much. “One last thing, what do you say when people ask who you are?”

“Nana is the dawter of Miyugi Kayuya! And… S-Sa… Sawamura Eijun!” Nana said proudly, trying to hide her stumble on her parents' difficult names.

“Great! Now, Pa-chan, won’t you say something to Na-chan? Or are you going to keep on crying in that corner?” Eijun turned to look at his husband, who was covering his mouth with the palm of his hand to muffle out his fatherly cries. He was in the middle of laughing and crying when Nana stumbled on her words, but as seconds passed, he got more emotional and started sobbing.

“N-Nana!” He ran to Nana and hugged her in his arms, tears running like a train. “Pa-chan is very scared! But he will let you go on your first errand! You have to be safe okay? Wait, no! Papa will go with you! Wait here, I will go get changed and—”

“Hold up, honey!” Eijun grabbed the back of Kazuya’s collar, stopping the man in his track. “What are you saying?! It’s her first errand! If you go with her, it won’t be an errand anymore!”

“But— She’s—”

“No buts! Na-chan, you can go ahead, make sure you remember what Mama said to you okay?”

“Yes, Mama!” Nana walked to her father, who was sobbing even harder now that he didn’t have permission to go, and waved her hand down, asking for Kazuya to come down to her level. When he did, Nana patted him on the head, “Papa be good! Nana will be back!”

Kazuya cried as he hugged her one last time, dreading to let his daughter go. Eijun had smacked him in the back of his head for him to let her go, and just like that, Nana left to go on her first errand.

“E-Eijun! We should think this through! Maybe it’s still too early for her to go!” Kazuya grabbed onto Eijun’s sleeve and pulled, stopping Eijun from going to the kitchen to finish up his cooking. His glasses were dirty with tears and his hair was messed up from anxious hair grabbing.

Kazuya, she’s fine! She’s four! She’s old enough to go on errands on her own, our daughter is smart.” Eijun sighed, he turned to face Kazuya head-on and wiped away the tears that were staining his cheeks.

How ironic, for Kazuya to always call Eijun a crybaby yet he was here crying over the fact that their daughter was finally on her first-ever mission.

“Exactly! She’s four and she's still too young! I can’t, I’m gonna go get changed and follow her!”

“Honey! She’s—”

“What if someone shady came and asked her for help? She would believe them! What if some man gives her candies and leads her somewhere for it? Eijun, I can’t!”

“...”

“Eijun.”

Nana was skipping. She was dressed in a pastel yellow overall and a white tee that Eijun had made for her. On her back was a light pink backpack that Kazuya had spent weeks trying to pre-order from out of state for her. Her shoes were a pair of pink with blue laces that Furuya and Haruichi had custom-made for her. Finally, her hat, self-made bucket hat that her cool and wild Kuramochi uncle had gifted her recently, celebrating her fourth birthday.

Having worn all these items on for her ever errand felt pretty amazing, she thought. It was like they were with her, guiding her along the path to her neighborhood’s supermarket.

Soon, her tiny legs were tired of the skipping and she stopped, she crouched down and massaged her calves, kneading the muscle with her tiny hands before re-tying her blue shoelaces. She huffed a breath, stood up, and pumped her fists in the air, “Nana got this!”

“S-she'S… Eijun… She’s so adorable… I’m going to cry…”

“You are already crying, Kazuya.” Eijun sighed and patted his husband on the shoulder.

Currently, the two were hidden behind an electrical pole, one behind each other as they watched their daughter walking with no fear in her steps. Kazuya had put on a hoodie and covered his head with a hat, sunglasses, and a fake pair of mustaches on his face. While Eijun only had a pair of sunglasses.

“Aren’t you hot like that?” Eijun asked, slowly walking out into the road when he knew it was safe to do so. “Just looking at you got me feeling all sweaty.”

“What can I do?! I need to be disguised! I am famous after all, and I wouldn’t want Na-chan to know that we’re following her!”

Eijun rolled his eyes, the fact that Kazuya had gotten used to Eijun being a househusband that he forgot about Eijun who was once Japan’s number one supermodel. “Whatever… Come on out, we’re going to miss her! She’s turning.”

“What?! Already?! Isn’t she going a bit too fast?! What if she falls?!”

“She’s fine—”

“AHH!” Nana screamed the moment she turned the corner, and immediately, Kazuya and Eijun ran to where she was and hid behind the walls. “A cat!”

Kazuya and Eijun sighed.

“She’s going to be the death of me!” Eijun whispered. “Stop crying! Honey, you’re twenty-eight!

“She scared me! I thought something happened!” He cried.

“Well, she’s scared me too! But you don’t see me crying?!”

“But—”

“Sorry cat… I can’t play with you! I have an er… an er… a mission! To do! I will see you later!” Nana petted the cat and continued her track.

“Kazuya… I am going to hit you if you don’t stop…” Eijun warned, he was peeved with how emotional his husband was, who was wiping snots all over his shirt instead of his own.

Five minutes had passed and Nana began to have trouble with her errand, the poor kid needed to use the restroom. She looked around, the neighborhood she grew up in was nice and peaceful, but she had never spoken to any of her neighbors before.

“What to do… I need to go potty.” Nana sweats, looking around frantically until she saw a lady coming out of her house. “E-Excuse me!”

The lady turned around and smiled the moment she saw Nana, “Oh hello there, what are you doing out here?”

“I am on a mission!”

“Mission?” The lady paused, and she realized. “Ah! Right, so, who are you?”

“I-I am Nana, the dawter of Mi... Mi...” She stuttered, trying to remember her parents' names in the moment of desperation. “Miyugi Kayuya! And Sa-Sawamure Eijun!”

“Great! Nice to meet you, Nana, how may I help you?”

“I need to go pee! Please!”

“Oh my!” The lady laughed, she then opened the door and led Nana inside. Before she completely closed her door, she noticed Eijun and Kazuya watching on the other side of the street, she bowed and gave the two a thumbs up, and proceeded to close her door.

When Nana was done, she bowed to the lady and continued her way until she came across an old lady. Her groceries were full, and the bag she had ripped, causing the vegetables to fall everywhere.

“Granny! Are you okay?” She rushed, picking up the pieces of vegetables while checking up on the granny.

“Oh my, thank you! What are you doing out here all alone? Where’re your parents?” Granny asked.

“I am on a mission! My name is Nana and I am the dawter of Miyugi Kayuya and Sawamura Eijun!”

“Oh goodness! Look at you!”

“Granny, I have a bag in my backpack! Here, I give them to you.”  Nana pulled out a rolled-up bag from her pink backpack and put in the vegetables she could hold before passing the bag to granny. “I’m sorry! I must continue my mission now!”

“Oh thank you! I won’t be in your way anymore then, good luck on your mission!” Granny laughed. Nana left her there and continued her journey. Eijun and Kazuya helped granny pick up the rest of her vegetables while keeping an eye on her.

“Phew, she's there now. Hopefully, she’ll know what to do,” Eijun said as he wiped away a sweat that rolled down his forehead. Kazuya had finally calmed down, though his eyes were a bit swollen from being too emotional. “Hurry up! We need to catch up, why are you so out of breath?!”

“So many things happened! Just give me a second, Eijun…” Kazuya breathed out, hands planted on his hips. Eijun rolled his eyes and smacked Kazuya in the back of his head. He almost had it with the man whom he called the love of his life.

“Pardon the intrusion…” Nana said the moment she stepped into the small supermarket. The place was crowded with people going in and out, strolling around in the tiny space. Nana had never been in there alone, so suddenly, she felt like the place was way bigger than she ever remembered, and it overwhelmed her just a tiny bit. “Oh right! Mama said to go to the cashier to ask for help…”

Nana swung her backpack around and took out her errand sheet. She looked around for an unoccupied cashier. With the supermarket so rowdy on a weekday, it was hard to find one but luckily, a male had come out of the staff’s room. Nana ran to him and tugged on his working slacks.

The cashier turned around, as if he knew what was going on, and was experienced in these, he immediately smiled and bent down, “Hello there, who are you? And what can I help you?”

“I am Nana! The dawter of Miyugi Kayuya! And S-Sawamura Eijun! I am on a mission, and I need help!”

The cashier laughed, “Miyuki Kazuya and Sawamura Eijun? Yes! I am Shira and I’ll be happy to help you! Would you show me your errand sheet?”

Nana passed Shira the sheet with two polite hands, watching the cashier reading the list in front of her. She looked around the market again, more people had started to come and it was getting rowdier. She could see a lot of kids her age around too, maybe they were also on a mission like her?

“Alright! Here you go, Nana-chan. Let’s get what you need!”

Shira had kindly shown Nana the way in every aisle that she needed to get through for her groceries. Teaching her how to pronounce items and how to differentiate between them, though she might be too young to understand. When she finally roamed all over the market and got her five items, Shira had instructed her on the way to get to the checkout since his job was done.

“Hello there! Will that be all for you today?”

“Yes! Nana has her money ready!”

“Haha, alrighty! Here you go, be careful, it’s quite heavy.”

“Thank you, miss! Nana is stwong enough to carry these—“ And she almost dropped the bag of groceries. When the cashier offered to help, she politely rejected. “It’s okay! Nana got this! Thank you so much!”

When Nana almost passed through those doors, she caught sight of an ice cream freezer. She walked to it and stared at the colorful ice cream in front of her, and she drooled. She wanted an ice cream cone. “But Nana doesn’t have permission to get ice cream… Nana can’t have ice cream without Mama…” Mumbling to herself, she failed to notice the man standing behind her.

“Hey kid, you want Ice Cream?”

“Kazuya! I don’t get you at all. You were scared, you were anxious and worried about your daughter going on an errand by herself that you cried!! Not once, not twice, but countless times. So what were you doing back there?!” Eijun cried out in madness, he was so, so peeved with his husband.

“I-I couldn't help it! They were my fans!! These stupid disguises didn’t work at all!” Kazuya said back.

Oh, yea?! I wonder why! Because you decided to take them off!! You could've refused! You could’ve said that you can’t! What were you thinking?! Signing signatures was one thing, but you went ahead and took pictures with them?!”

“I said I’m sorry! Didn’t you also stop and sign for some of your old fans too?!”

“If you didn’t stop— Ugh, whatever! We missed the whole trip of Nana shopping by herself! I need to know if she—“ Eijun stopped himself when he saw Nana walk out of the supermarket with no bag of groceries but an ice cream cone in her tiny hand instead. “What? Did she get ice cream? She—“

He stopped himself again. When a certain man dressed in black with a hat and a mask walked after her. The man was carrying her groceries bag and had his hand on the back of Nana, leading her to where his motorcycle was parked and—

“Oh god! Nana! Nana!” Eijun ran, leaving Kazuya confused while he was fixing his damned appearance. Eijun had enough with him today and he didn’t want to talk to his husband for the rest of the day or tomorrow.

Nana and the man turned around, she was surprised to see her Mama in the middle of the streets, he rarely ever leaves the house. “Mama!” She exclaimed and ran to Eijun.

“Nana! Come here! Why are you with that man?!” Eijun rushed his words. He was worried, he was anxious, and he was almost disappointed. Kazuya finally caught up with him and studied the situation. He looked at the man and was confused.

“Mama! He’s—“

“Didn’t I tell you not to follow strangers?! Nana!”

“Eijun, that’s not—“ Kazuya started to say, but the man interrupted him.

“Jesus Christ! Why are you panicking so much?! It’s just me, darn.”

Eijun was shocked, he looked up and realized it was Kuramochi, dressed in black while taking off his face mask. “Youichi-san..?”

“Darn right, God, you acted like I was a kidnapper or something.” Kuramochi also took off his hat and ruffled his own messy hair.

“I mean you did look like a kidnapper, dressing like that.”

“Shut the heck up, you four eyes bas— anyways, I was just stopping by the market and this little miss right here was drooling over ice cream and told herself she couldn’t buy it without your permission. Poor kid was trying to get some ice cream. Why didn’t you tell me she was on her first errand?”

“I thought you were busy, you said you had a show today, so we didn’t tell you.” Eijun released a relief sigh, today had been too much for him, and he just wanted to go home and rest. “Nana, did you say thank you to uncle Mochi?”

“Nana did!”

“Good job. Now, are you ready to go home? And cook all the groceries you got for Mama today?” Eijun asked as he stood up. He held out his hand and Nana grabbed onto them and nodded her head, ready to be a chef assistant the moment she got home.

“I will help—“ Kazuya started to say.

You will be cooking.” Eijun cut him off, sending his husband a glare. And Kazuya shivered, a bead of sweat rolled down his temple. Eijun was really mad. “Youichi-san, will you be joining us?”

“If this jerk is cooking, then I will. I will meet you guys later, gotta pick up Ryou-san. He’s coming too.”

“Great, shall we go Na-chan?” Eijun smiled at his daughter.

“Yes, Mama!” Nana beamed.

Just like that, Nana had graduated from being a baby and accomplished her first-ever errand.

Notes:

I really, really enjoyed writing this one! ITS SO CUTE I LOVE NANA, she's barely 4 so she still have some trouble saying some words but she tried! I LIVE FOR CRYBABY FATHER MIYUKI he's so ANNOYING AND FUNNY SKSKKSKS

Also! The 'Baby's first errand' is a thing in Japan, and apparently, there's a show for it too? I don't know too much about it except for having the kid go on errands for the first time, but for the sake of my own story, I added some rules like: if you're on an errand, and the adults you're talking to knows, they'll ask who you are, and this is like a confirmation whose child is it and to practice saying things like this just in case you are lost and in need of help to get back to your parents. And adults ARE obligated to help you on your first errand! Normally there will be a day where all the kids do errands together, like a neighborhood event but sometimes a family can do it by themselves too, so yea that's all I added. Hope it makes sense teehee.

anyways, this series will have ONE more fic to it! I don't know when it will come but i hope you guys look forward to it!

Ty for reading, I love yall muah muah
