Work Text:

“You can’t do that!”

“Yes, I can Dahyun!”

How quick a simple, innocent game of Monopoly had turned into an aggressive screaming match between the two girls.

“No!”

“Yes!”

Dahyun grit her teeth together in frustration, her jaw clenched.

Sana shot a deadly glare in the other’s direction, a scowl taking over her features.

The younger girl was almost out, but the threat of Sana winning the game looming closer by the second had her pushing harder. She couldn’t lose this stupid thing against Sana, no chance was that ever happening.

“Dahyun, you’re already losing! Just give up !” Sana groaned, pulling at her hair.

Dahyun huffed out an offended scoff, her mouth hanging open at the girl’s audacity. “I am not losing.”

Sana looked down at the table in front of her pointedly. There sat Dahyun’s sad, little five-dollar bills. It really was a wonder how the girl still hadn’t lost yet, as she could barely pay for anything. On the other hand, Sana had a fat wad of cash sitting next to her proudly. Looking at the sorry sight that Dahyun claimed as hers, Sana couldn’t stop herself from snorting.

And Dahyun definitely didn’t miss the downgrading sound.

Feeling the anger within her balloon, Dahyun let it take control in that moment.

“You know what?!”

“What?!” Sana fired back in annoyance.

Dahyun’s face scrunched up in anger as she slid her hand under the boardgame, flipping it over to the side. The little game pieces went flying into all directions while the cards and bills scattered into the air. They just barely missed the girl sitting in front of her, who watched in disbelief.

Sana immediately shot up from her seat on the floor, the dollar bills still fluttering around them, towering over the younger. She pointed an accusatory finger at Dahyun. “You-” she said, menacingly.

Dahyun had a sickeningly sweet smile on her face as she looked up at Sana. “Oops~”

The japanese eyes bulged out, fuming. “Oops?!”

Dahyun held up her hands in defense. Seemingly big, innocent dark eyes stared back at her. “It was an accident!” She tried to argue.

This little, sneaky bitch.

“I-” Sana stopped herself, taking a deep breath with closed eyes. The argument could continue on for days if they tried, but she didn't want to deal with a pouty baby for that long. “Okay, I give up.”

At this, Dahyun beamed. “So, I win?” She took a chance.

Sana couldn’t help the chuckle that slipped out of her mouth. “Sure, Dahyunnie.”

The other did her little victory dance upon hearing that, jumping up and sliding around in her mismatched striped socks, while Sana watched in amusement.

. . .

Dahyun dramatically belly-flopped onto the grey-colored couch, the wind getting knocked out of her and leaving her gasping for breath.

Sana watched the whole ordeal in amusement before plopping herself down across Dahyun.

It was just a normal weekend for them, with Dahyun over at Sana’s apartment complex that she shared with her two best friends, Momo and Mina. It was like Dahyun practically lived there now, with how frequently she crashed by.

Momo wouldn’t even be fazed anymore when she opened the door to the korean lounging on the couch, the television displaying the latest episode of “Spongebob.”

“Hey,” Momo commented offhandedly the moment she saw the girl residing in her usual spot when she walked in, multiple grocery bags in hand.

Dahyun peered over the couch, all bundled up in her blankets, and raised her hand up in greeting. “Oh, hi!”

The older japanese would spare a couple seconds to walk over and pinch pale cheeks, ignoring the whines, and then continue onto her usual routine.

It just happened that often.

Not that Sana was ever complaining.

Dahyun let out a barely concealed yawn, her hand reaching up to cover her gaping mouth.

Noticing this, Sana spoke up jokingly. “Don’t say you’re getting bored of me already,” Sana drawled out from her side of the couch.

Lazily stretching her body back, Dahyun turned and sent a wink towards the other. “Never~” But she only received an eye roll in return, to which she pouted at.

Dahyun frowned cutely, her chin crumpling. “Why must you roll your eyes? I know you love it.” Cue the puppy-eyes.

Sana shook her head in firm denial, pursing her lips. “Nope,” she said, popping the ‘p.’ She was not going to put any new ideas into the girl’s head.

But no matter how annoyed and done Sana would act, Dahyun knew for a fact that the older girl secretly loved everything. All of it.

Because she was always there, readily opening the door for Dahyun to walk in.

Like she was waiting.

Sana coughed.

And Dahyun tore her gaze away.

Sana leaned back into the couch and grabbed the blankets to cover herself, snuggling into the warmth. She made a little noise of content.

The younger was about to protest again when the blankets were thrown over her as well, and she bit back her smile.

It was quiet and peaceful...for about twenty minutes.

That’s when Dahyun let out a loud sigh, breaking the silence that had enveloped around them.

With Sana scrolling through media on her phone and Dahyun thinking to herself (while sneaking subtle glances at the older), Dahyun found herself bored, so she reached over to the table and grabbed her own phone.

She hoped to cure her boredom by going through her Twitter, maybe catch up on the latest news events.

But complications arose.

“Hey, what’s the WiFi password?”

Sana's eyes flicked over from her phone to her. “Why?” Something sounded off about the girl’s voice, but Dahyun paid no attention to it.

The younger rolled her eyes at the one-worded question. “To hack in and steal all your information,” she deadpanned sarcastically.

Tapping a finger against her chin, Sana pretended to think about it before turning with a smile. “How about no?”

Dahyun quickly whined, her bottom lip jutting out. “Don’t you know that I’m kidding? I’m bored!” She huffed. “Can’t a girl use her phone?”

Sana’s brows furrowed together in puzzlement. “You were able to use your phone all the other times. Why can’t you now?”

A sheepish grin. “I ran out of data, so…” Dahyun trailed off in embarrassment.

Sana sighed. “Give me your phone.” She held her hand out to Dahyun demandingly.

Dahyun waved Sana’s hand away, shaking her head. “Tell me and I’ll type it in.”

Sana jutted her hand out even more. “No, give it.”

But Dahyun narrowed her eyes in suspicion at her. She definitely didn’t miss the small note of panic in the girl’s voice. “Why don’t you just tell me? That would be a lot easier.” She tilted her head.

She didn’t receive an answer, only having a fierce glare directed at her.

Something was up, and Dahyun internally smirked. She was intrigued.

“Hmm, seems like you’ve got something to hide, Sana. How strange.” Dahyun teased Sana, but it backfired on her as Sana kicked Dahyun off the couch with her foot, making the girl fall to the ground in a pile of blankets with a yelp of surprise.

Sana glanced down at the floor and laughed.

Annoyed burrito.

She cooed at the sight, but Dahyun only scoffed from where she lay.

“I will crack this password, Sana,” Dahyun argued heatedly.

Sana turned back to her phone and hummed absently. “Yeah, you go do that.”

Eyes watched as Dahyun furiously typed onto her phone, the tip of her tongue sticking out the corner of her mouth in concentration.

Sana wouldn’t be surprised at all if Dahyun couldn’t figure it out. As usual.

But she didn’t want to have to spell it out to her.

. . .

After twelve tries (and back on the couch), Dahyun was starting to get frustrated. It didn’t help that her curiosity was getting fueled for each ‘incorrect’ message that popped up onto her screen.

“Tell me,” Dahyun pleaded.

No response.

“Can I at least get a hint?”

No response.

“Wow, so helpful.”

“You’re welcome.” Sana’s short reply came.

Dahyun threw her hands into the air in defeat, groaning.

No progress had been made whatsoever, despite how much time had passed. Dahyun let out a long breath. Since she wasn’t getting anywhere with questions, it was time to brainstorm possible ideas.

So, she thought out loud. The first idea that came to mind for her.

“Well, you’re a very simple person-”

Sana cut in sharply and the other realized her poor wording. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

Dahyun could detect the incoming danger and let out a nervous chuckle. “I just mean that uh- it’s probably something that you like…?” Dahyun scratched her cheek.

A beat.

Then a low hum was heard and the korean let out an inaudible sigh of relief. She would live to see another day.

But Sana still hadn’t answered her question.

“So?” Dahyun prodded further, slowly getting impatient.

Dahyun wasn’t fazed when she didn’t hear anything, but she caught the expression that quickly flitted over Sana’s face. One of panic.

That meant she was getting close.

“What are some of the things that you like?” Dahyun hummed in thought, phone still in hand.

“Kimbap?”

Sana answered. “Nope.” Yet, Dahyun still tried typing it in. The same ‘incorrect’ message popped up.

“...cheese kimbap?”

Sana glances up from her phone to look at the younger. “No kimbap.”

Dahyun sighed (in defeat). Incorrect.

She thought about it some more, her eyes darting around the room.

Nothing could’ve prepared Sana for the next words that were to come of the pale girl’s mouth.

Dahyun stared up at the ceiling, hanging upside down from the couch. “You like me, right?”

Sudden coughing and spluttering sounded from the other girl beside her, immediately catching her attention. Dahyun turned to look at Sana, whose face was randomly ducked down, preventing her from seeing anything, and raised a questioning brow at her.

But after a few moments, Sana raised her head to look at Dahyun nonchalantly. Strange. Dahyun could’ve sworn she had seen Sana’s face redden; she shook her head to rid of the thoughts.

She would be insane to think of it.

“Is your password my name? It must be.” Dahyun teased.

“It’s really not.”

“Then, I should be offended.”

Sana bit her lip, silent. Her phone lay untouched and forgotten on the couch. She now stared at Dahyun, eyes unreadable.

Dahyun figured that it would be virtually impossible for her since Sana wasn’t going to tell her, but she decided to try one last time for the fun of it.

It’ll make for some new teasing material against Sana.

“Whatever, I’m going to try it anyways. And if it’s not my name, I’ll be really disappointed in you, Sana!”

Sana’s eyes darted around anxiously as desperately stumbled over her words. “W-wait!”

But the younger just ignored her, playing along with her joke. Because there was just no way that it would be...right?

As Dahyun’s fingertips tapped away at the screen, Sana lunged at her, trying to reach for the phone before anything could happen.

Dahyun clicked something on her phone before a sudden weight crashed into her, knocking the wind out of her again . Her arm was smacked aside, resulting in the device as well.

The phone sailed upwards until it fell to the ground with a loud clatter.

Face up.

Dahyun let out a loud gasp.

What.

There, at the very corner of her phone, was the WiFi symbol. Not the usual ‘incorrect’ message.

Dahyun whipped her head to look at Sana, gaping. Her mind was a jumbled mess because, did this mean what she thought it meant? Sana averted her gaze with blushing cheeks.

“D-do you like me, Sana?”

“Um-”

Dahyun grabbed Sana’s shoulders, forcing her to look into fierce dark brown eyes. “Do you like me how I like you?”

. . .

The door clicked as it opened up for Momo and Mina, and the two were immediately met with the sight of Sana hovering over Dahyun on the couch as they were in a deep liplock.

Momo let out a gasp of surprise before Mina could slap a hand over her mouth to silence her. The two japanese girls turned to look at the couple, but Sana and Dahyun were too lost in their own world to hear them.

Mina glanced at Momo, whose eyes had widened and her mouth hung open. Mina suppressed a giggle at that, quickly grabbing the older girl by the elbow and dragging her to their room.

They tried to quietly tiptoe across the floor, but the moment they heard a strange noise coming from the couple, they immediately booked it.

Mina closed the door, leaning on it and taking a breath. When she looked up, Momo was smirking.

Mina raised a brow in question, while Momo’s smirk only grew larger.

“I can’t believe those two useless lesbians finally did it.”
