Work Text:
Hey, hey, hey,
Hey, hey-hey.
Katsuki was well aware that no one attending this concert is expecting him to stand up and what, Confess his love? He knows that no one signed up for this, but hell, when did he ever match people's expectations of him.
Hey, hey, hey,
Hey, hey-hey.
Dear lord, Eijiro just wanted to go home. It’d been a long day at Fatgum’s agency, too many petty crimes to count, but he’d promised Bakugo he’d come to this concert. Something about Bakugos demeanor when he asked Eijiro seemed off, almost like he was nervous?
Simmer down, simmer down,
They say we’re too young now to amount to anything else,
Well look around,
We worked too damn hard for this just to give it up now.
As the beat dropped and the concert really started, a blond drummer and a box-dye redhead locked eyes from across the venue.
Eijiro’s pulse picked up and he felt himself blush as Bakugo stood up, moved from behind the drumset (where Tokoyami took his place), and in front of the mic that Jirou usually occupied.
If you don’t swim, you’ll drown,
So don’t move, honey.
The line was punctuated with a wink from the blond onstage, and Bakugo felt himself become more nervous as the song went on. He was plagued with thoughts of self-doubt, but hey when the hell does Bakugo fuckin’ Katsuki ever do things halfway?
You look so perfect standing there, in my American Apparel underwear,
And fuck Bakugo would never forget the sight of Kirishima in his clothes, especially the impromptu sleepover that left him dressed in Katsuki’s things from head to toe.
Eijiro remembered that night, and the morning following it. Damn, he never wanted to leave any of the caramel scented garments.
And I know now,
That I’m so down.
Your lipstick stain is a work of art,
Kirishima thought that Bakugo had forgotten about the time he'd lost a bet to Mina. Kirishima had had to wear makeup for a whole day and had been not-so-innocently planting kiss marks on all of Bakugo’s stuff.
I’d get your name tattooed in an arrow heart,
And I know now,
That I’m so down.
Eijirou felt himself being pulled towards the stage by an invisible force, like the atmosphere of the concert area is toxic and the only escape was on the stage.
Hey, hey hey,
Hey, hey hey.
At this point, Katsuki knew he was going a little overboard with the theatrics. However, in his defense, his beloved shitty hair could be a little thick-skulled sometimes. With that thought, he winked and blew another kiss in the redheads' direction, simultaneously noting that his hair matched the blush he was currently sporting.
Let’s get out, Let’s get out,
‘Cause this deadbeat town’s only here just to keep us down.
Katsuki has never claimed to not be salty at UA about being chained up in front of millions in the midst of a panic attack or letting him be kidnapped.
While I was out,
I found myself in a room just thinking,
If I showed up with a plane ticket,
And a honeymoon suite with our names on it,
Would you wanna run away too?
Eijiro hadn’t thought about it at the time, having just assumed that the room had been booked for Bakugo’s parents, but looking back, god damn he was oblivious.
Kirishima had made his way up to the front of the stage, and Bakugo looked directly into his eyes, reaching a hand down to grab one of Kirishima's own from the crowd, beginning to pull him onto the stage with ease.
‘Cause all I really want is you!
Katsuki looked up at Kirishima, whose flush returned with a new vigor at the words. He wasn’t too proud to admit he was sporting his own, much subtler blush as well.
You look so perfect standing there, in my American Apparel underwear,
And I know now, that I’m so down.
Eijiro was in awe of Bakugo’s presence, fascinated by the rush of confidence that the blond’s words gave him. Bakugo had never lied before, so Eijiro feels like he must be just as great as Katsuki claims he is.
And with that, he takes the mic away from Bakugou, leaving the typically angry boy with an expression of shock, and maybe excitement?
I got a mixtape straight out of ‘24,
I want your skinny jeans next to mine on the floor,
Katsuki finally goes red at that remark, especially due to the fact that Kirishima pulled one of his rare, but heavily appreciated, smirks.
Eijiro pulls Bakugo close enough to him that they can share the mic, and finish out the song.
And I know now, that I’m so down!
With that they kiss, years of tension finally being addressed. They can vaguely hear the rest of the band singing the last of the ‘heys’, and the lights cutting off with the sharp end of the song, but they couldn't care less.
They stop the kiss and look each other up and down. When they finally exchange words, it’s Kirishima whispering in a tone too quiet for the mics to pick up,
“You look so perfect, Kats.”
