Sophia became incredibly upset and started crying. No one in the FBI was well equipped to deal with emotions, especially not Peter. And Damian felt that as himself he was even less equipped than any of them. Neal, however, was equipped to handle people who were upset. And Damian felt righteous fury run through him as well. He understood why this woman was upset and he empathized with her. He glared at Peter and Jones before shooing them out to give Sophia some space and some privacy for her to let out her frustration before gathering herself once again.
Damian sat with her and rubbed her back before he said, “I’ll look into it.”
She hiccuped and looked at him through unshed tears.
“What?”
“I’ll look into it,” Damian said again, this time with more conviction. “I promise. What it sounds like they are doing isn’t right and they shouldn’t get away with it. I won’t be able to help with the full support of the FBI, but I’ll see what I can find.”
“Thank you,” Sophia choked out. She quickly became overwhelmed by her emotions and lunged at Damian for a hug. If Damian were not used to random hugs because of his brother, he might have been alarmed. But as it were, he just huffed a little irritated before catching himself and wrapping his arms around her, rubbing soothing circles on her shoulders.

Nothing was said as he watched Diana drive off, most likely off to tell Peter what had happened. Damian had failed. He failed both of his missions, failed being Neal Caffrey, failed at being the Robin he was taught to be, failed being Damian. When he was thrown back in prison in the morning, he would stay; he deserved it, after all.

Todd was supposed to bring some for him tonight, but that hardly helped him now.He hears movement behind and slowly turns to take in Peter’s reaction. He looks a little rattled, but that is how he has looked all morning thus far; Damian has been throwing a lot of curveballs his way, he supposed. He stood gaping like a fish for a moment before regaining himself.
“You have green eyes,” he said again, this time with more conviction than before. Damian huffed and crossed his arms tightly over his chest. He needed the pressure that the constriction gave to keep himself grounded because he

“I don’t agree with what you did, I still stand by that. But I sympathize with the position you were placed in,” Damian started, ignoring the disbelieving huff coming from Diana and focusing solely on Kathy. “Regardless of my feelings on the case, however, I should not have reacted in the way that I did. Physical harm never solves anything, I know that. So, I apologize.”“Really, Neal. That’s what you are going with? That didn’t even sound like a genuine apology,” Diana said, crossing her arms. Her words cut deep into him and he cringed slightly, but he didn’t let her opinion dissuade him. It wasn’t her that he owed this apology to, after all. Hers would be different.
Kathy, on the other hand, held his gaze. She seemed to be searching for something. Damian dropped his eyes and shifted slightly. She nodded, seemingly satisfied with what she saw.
“While your apology is accepted, you won’t be forgiven by me. Not for any time soon,” she said.
“Kathy, I saw what he did to you. You don’t have to accept his apology and, while I am not necessarily encouraging it, charges can still be pressed. I know you mentioned that in the conference room.”
Ah, so he was one of the main topics of discussion there. Damian had assumed that their interaction would be mentioned, but it seems like it was conversed about in depth. That would make sense, he supposed. He did assault the woman. His Baba would be so disappointed in him; it had been so long since he had an incident. He was doing better.
