Thunderstorm

Summary:

A storm hits in the middle of the workweek. Morisuke forgot his raincoat at home, and sadly there are no buses that run from his office to his apartment building. Luckily he's mated to an alpha who not only takes notice of the left-behind raincoat but also isn't all too picky about getting wet.

{30 Day OTP Challenge Day 2 - Rainy Day}

Notes:

In this setting, they're young adults working in the city, mated and living together, and Morisuke is still just as grumpy about getting wet. Please enjoy~

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Day 2 - Rainy Day

Stormy days in the middle of the week were dreary indeed. Morisuke got off work with all the enthusiasm of a piece of roadkill, not looking forward to his trudge home through the deluge. He had a crappy old umbrella that had seen better days and knew that, between the horrid wind and the semi-flooded sidewalk, he’d end up drenched either with or without the umbrella’s defense.

As he was heading out the lobby of his office building, a surprise was waiting just outside the front door.

“Hi! How was work?”

Lev was standing there with a black raincoat atop his suit and tie, a large red umbrella in his grasp.

He was standing under the awning, offering protection from the pouring rain, a glitter to his emerald eyes.

“Wait…what are you doing?” Yaku asked, raising an eyebrow suspiciously.

“Well, I figured you’d hate getting all wet. I don’t know if I can do much about that on the way home, but I did bring you your raincoat.”

Sure enough, tucked under Lev’s arm was the old maroon raincoat of Morisuke’s high school days, its swishy fabric and hood a welcome sight.

“I forgot it today of all days.” He said, taking the jacket from his mate and swinging it over his shoulders. Pulling the zipper up, he flipped the hood over his head.

“Well, do you think we’ll make it?” Lev asked teasingly.

A loud clap of thunder boomed mere seconds later, causing the two of them to jump, and Morisuke latched onto Lev’s arm.

“No telling, but it’s only gonna get worse, so let’s just run for it.”

“You’ll keep up? I can carry you.”

“Shut up! Long legs don’t make you the Flash, and you’re slow as a turtle half the time!”

The rain seemed to pick up even further, hammering the awning and clearing the sidewalk of even the bravest pedestrians.

“Shit.” Morisuke groaned, bouncing his forehead lightly off the side of Lev’s shoulder.

“You said it, it’ll only get worse. Alright, let’s get home!”

So they stepped out into the rain.

The chaos of sprinting down the sidewalk in a thunderstorm, buckets of rain pouring down and striking at them even from under the shelter of their umbrellas, was intense. The buildings flew by, and the puddles they crashed over erupted with splashes that soaked into their shoes.

At long last, they made it to their apartment building and were so eager to just get out of the rain that they nearly ran all the way up to their door.

Once inside, safely home with the echoes of thunder still crashing in their ears, lev dropped his work bag to the floor.

“Well, here’s hoping my laptop made it without getting too soggy.” He grumbled as Morisuke kicked off his dripping wet shoes.

“Take your shoes off. I’ll hang them, so they dry out,” He said even as he stripped off his jacket.

Lev reached down to pull off his business casual shoes as Morisuke raked his fingers through his hair.

“Ugh…do I need a shower?”

“I think we already had one,” Lev replied, laughter to his voice before he replaced Morisuke’s carding fingertips with his own.

The first kiss tasted more like rainwater than the usual sweetness he loved about his omegas lips. The second one got that a bit more cleared away as he pushed wet auburn strands stuck to Morisuke’s forehead back and away. He was letting his other hand linger in the region of his mate's thigh when Morisuke rather firmly seized it.

Morisuke shook his head lightly, eyes looking tired yet amused in the inches of space between them.

“Can this wait till after I’m in a dry set of clothes?”

“Who said clothes had to be involved?”

“Lev!”

They laughed, and thunder boomed again.

The forecast said the storm would last another couple of days, and suddenly both of them were very ok with that.
