*ringggg*
There it was.
The bell that marked the end of 7th period and the start of spring break.
But as everyone else jumped out of their seats and celebrated, Nicholas was feeling nothing but dread. For him breaks mean he has to go back home, and even if it’s just for a week, he knows it’s going to be hell.
It’s this damn schools fault for showing him for the first time in his life, that not everything is awful. Not to mention there was no fencing at home, and no team. As much as he hates to admit it, Nicholas really has gotten attracted to them. Even seiji, which is pretty surprising. But now he had to pack and go back to the shitty little apparent, with his mom who hasn’t said a word to him in years.
Nicholas held his face in his hands and took a deep breath. At this point the class room was almost entirely empty, and even the teacher looked like she was getting ready to leave. So he picked up his bag a head back to the dorms.
It’s not a long walk and to be honest, Nicholas liked how pretty the campus was. Now that he had to leave it, he couldn’t help but think it looked better than ever. Sadly, He made it back to the dorm quicker than he would have liked but it’s probably a good thing if he’s going to pack and have time to call a taxi back home.
When Nicholas opened the door he was annoyed, but not surprised, to see seiji all ready in there packing. Nicholas rolled his eyes and shut the door just a little bit harder than needed. Seiji turned around to glare but Nicholas just shrugged and got to work packing up his stuff.
They both worked in complete silence, till someone knocked on the door.
“yeah sure, I’ll get it” Nicholas said after seiji show no sign of stopping to get the door.
The second he opened the door, Nicholas was engulfed in a hug.
“Oh hey Bobby! What are you doing here?” Nicholas asked as the other boy released him from his grip.
“Nothing much! Dante helped me pack so I’m already done and I just wanted to come say hi, maybe see if you guys have anything fun planned for the break!”
Nicholas moved out of the way to let the smaller boy into the room and Bobby quickly made himself at home on Nicholas bed.
“Well I hate to burst your bubble but I’m not really expecting to have much ‘fun’ over the break if I’m honest” Nicholas said as he started packing again.
“Why not? Arent you at least excited to see you’re family?”
Nicholas cringed a bit at Bobby’s words. He know the boy means well but Nicholas doesn’t have the time or the energy to unpack all him family problems right now
“It’s just me and my mom, and we’re arent really close. I haven’t spoke to her since I asked her to sign my forms to get into kings row.” Nicholas now felt to pairs of eyes on him but he decided to ignore it and keep packing.
“I’m sorry,” Bobby said trying to Scooch closer Nicholas “you know, if you’d like you could stay over at mine for the week! It’s a bit short notice but in my family, it’s the more the merrier! Besides, my Abuela already invited you, remember? She wants to make you her famous mole poblano!”
Nicholas froze in his spot. Could he really do that? He didn’t want to intrude on Bobby’s vacation but he also definitely didn’t want to go home.
A thousand questions ran through his head but when he opened his mouth the only thing that came out was “yes please.”
“Yay!!” Bobby hopped off of Nicholas bed and gave him another hug “I’m so excited!!! It’s going to be so fun”
Suddenly the zipper of seiji bag was pulled back loud enough to startle both the other boys.
“Oh seiji!! I hope you didn’t think I forgot about you!!! What are you doing over break?” Bobby asked
Seiji took a minute to consider the question and for a second Nicholas thought he might flat out ignore Bobby all together.
“I have no plans. My parents are in Tokyo for a Business trip, I will be home alone.” Seiji said before picking up his now fully packed bag and heading towards the door
“Wait!!!! Do you want to come home with me too?” Bobby called out before seiji could reach the door
“What?”
“Yeah, what???” Nicholas looked at Bobby like he had 3 heads.
“I just thought you might be lonely, and as I said before ‘The more the merrier’!”
Nicholas wanted to laugh, Bobby was to pure for this world “oh Please, you know seiji would never expect an invitation to hang out with us common folk for a week. It would be like admitting we was on the same level as us. He’ll be perfectly happy alone in his mansi-“
“I’ll go.” Seiji said cutting off Nicholas mid-sentence. Nicholas eyes widen in shock as seiji stood his ground. Just when Nicholas thought he understood seiji he had to go and do something, like this. Nicholas didn’t know what the other boy was planning but he didn’t trust his motives for a second.
“Really?!?!!!” Bobby said totally oblivious to tension in the room “I’ll call my Mom and let her! This is going to be the best week ever! You guys finishing packing while I’m gone!”
Bobby skipped out of the room, shutting the door behind him.
“Why did you say yes.” Nicholas snapped the second he knew Bobby couldn’t hear them.
“Because I was invited. Why did you say yes?”
Nicholas stared into the others eyes searching for some kind of clue but after finding nothing, he rolled his eyes and started packing in Lou of answering.
“This is gonna be a fun week” he whispered sarcastically to himself.
The next few minutes were spent in total silence as they waited for Bobby to return.
“She’s here!”
Both seiji and Nicholas flinched in surprise as Bobby swung open the door louder than expected. Bobby couldn’t help it! He was just so excited!
“My mom is out from it the parking lot, are you guys ready to head down?”
“Yup! Ready when you are!” Nicholas replied grabbing his bag
“Same.”
“Okay yay! Dante is already bring my stuff down so I can help you guys if you need it”
“No thanks” Nicholas said gesturing to the backpack on his should “everything I own fits into one bag so I’m good to go”
Bobby nodded and turned to seiji.
“I do not require assistance, either”
With that Bobby smiled and headed off down the stairs, seiji and Nicholas glare at each other on last time before following after.
If he was going to be honest, Nicholas was still really happy to be going to Bobby’s, even if seiji was tagging along. As much as he hates to admit it, that guy isn’t really that bad. They are just kind of like rivals, ya know? It would be fun if they both didn’t take it so seriously.
When they made it to the car, they both quickly greeted Bobby’s mom before packing their stuff in the back and then they were ready to go. Bobby gave Dante a quick kiss goodbye before hopping in the front seat, and Nicholas and seiji piled in the back. According to Bobby, he only lived about 45 minutes away so Nicholas decided to put in his headphones and drift off for a little bit.
“-ey. Wake up sleepyhead.” Nicholas slowly opened his eyes, trying to place where the voice was coming from. His eyes quickly focused and landed on Bobby’s smiling face.
“We’re here!”
