At the end of the day, when he turns the corner, and his path diverts from hers, that’s all he is--a handsome stranger, but she likes to imagine that one day she quickens her pace and walks beside him.
Ben Solo lies to himself. He knows the pretty brunette follows a few steps behind him each day, and he knows he shouldn’t look over his shoulder when he turns the corner. But five days a week, he looks, and she’s always there.
He catches her as she walks across the street each day to his side of the corner, where he waits for the sign to light up. He even lingers when she’s not quite there yet if the signal is lit up for him to go. He won’t pass go unless she’s nearby. Sometimes, he wishes he would just wait for her on that street corner. He wishes he could walk with her, this beautiful stranger.
