When Nureyev accepts a position on Buddy Aurinko’s crew, he does so with the full expectation that it will be temporary. It’s not a conscious or exclusive decision, rather it’s one he makes every time he takes a job or makes living arrangements. He is by virtue a temporary person. But then Juno Steel accepts the same offer he had and Buddy starts throwing around words like family and unbreakable trust and things progress far past Nureyev’s preferred brand of temporary before he has a chance to notice it. And by the time he does, it’s far too late for him to fall back on disappearances.
