Not Just Older

Summary:

After months of Lloyd being aged up from the tea, he continuously refuses any offer to revert back to childhood. He won't tell anyone why, but soon he'll fess up.

Work Text:

Kai didn't know what to think when it happened, Lloyd seemed oddly pleased when he was hit with the Tomorrow's Tea. He would think he'd be at least a little upset he needed to miss out on a lot of his childhood, but so far he has no regrets of being caught in the mist of the tea. "He's been admiring himself in the mirror for days on end, it's weird he puts so much emphasis on his abs. Yeah he works out the most out of us but that's nothing to brag about."

One day after finally defeating the Time Twins, Lloyd now had to take up the mantle as the new sensei with Wu lost to time. "You sure that's not too much for you Lloyd? I mean you went through enough already when Wu was here, we don't want to put too much on you." Kai suggested. "I thought you might want to catch up on lost time w-"

"No!! Umm.. I mean it's fine." Lloyd stuttered, knocking the cup of Yesterday's tea out of his hand. "I mean it's not like I ever had the best time as a kid really."

"But didn't you used to groan about being forced to train most of the time when all the other kids got t-"

"When I got older I didn't need to be supervised anymore and I finally got to stay up all night and not be bossed around. I could also control my powers better, I'm not going back to being a bratty ten year old, no way!" The green ninja snapped as he stormed out.

Kai was about to follow after, but something in him told him not to. He needed time to cool off, asking what he was so upset about would probably just make things worse. "He's probably off seeing the old blacksmith's, Mom and Lloyd get along great. I mean, who wouldn't with someone as cool and loving as my mama."

-------

"Lloyd? What brings you here?" Maya asked as the blonde ninja entered the smithys. "Is this about your boyfriend?"

"B-boyfriend? Errm.. We haven't even been on a date yet, how did you k-I mean why do you think I like Kai?" Lloyd blushed, hiding his face behind a shield.

"I know Ray had that same look before admitting he liked me." She grinned. "Well if it isn't about Kai, then what is this about?"

"He wanted me to drink Yesterday's Tea.."

"Hm? Why would you get all worked up over that? I'm sure he'd understand if you didn't want to be a kid again."

The green ninja took a sigh, he didn't think it would ever come up again. "I... It's not that. I wasn't born a boy."

Maya held her tongue, letting him continue. "I wasn't kicked out for not being bad enough, they found my binder. I had to make it myself out of rags but it was better than nothing, every day I'd be wishing for just some way for me to gain the body I wanted. It took so long but I finally got it, I know it sounds weird but that tea didn't just age me up.. If I reverse that I'll go back to being stuck in my birth gender and I'll have to wait in order to transition.."

The former water master approached him, pulling him into a bear hug. "It doesn't matter what your gender was at birth, you're a fine young man in my eyes. We won't make you drink Yesterday's Tea if you don't want to."

Lloyd sniffled, the only other people who knew about his past were his parents. Just confessing was enough to make him tear up. "Kai is so lucky to have a mother like you.." He uttered out, silently crying into her shoulder.

"Aw, and he's also lucky to have a man like you."

"Yeah.. A man.."

---

"Whoa, I guess that does explain his voice changing." Kai thought, he overheard their conversation from just outside.

"Don't you know it isn't polite to eavesdrop?"

"Ah! Oh hey Dad, I was just too curious not to know what was going on.. Can you tell Lloyd this won't change a thing between me and him?"

"Why not tell him yourself? Your mother and I can set you up together for a night here." Ray smiled, giving his son a noogie. "I bet ya missed Maya's dumplings most."

"Hey!! I guess it would be nice to stay awhile, just us four kicking back now that you're finally here with us. I got to tell you all about video games!"
