Chapter 1: it takes two to bake (and clean the kitchen mess you made)

Chapter Text

"Babe, can you help me with this for a second?" Namjoon hears Seokjin shout from the kitchen.

He enters to see Seokjin, apron covered in different shades of black and white, buttercream smeared a little on the ends of his brown hair, and a small one on his nose.

It's not a sight he expected to see, but still seeing his husband like this from time to time, clumsy and messy, is always an endearing sight to see.

Namjoon giggles as he takes a step closer and wraps his arms around Seokjin's waist, pulling him closer. He places a peck on his nose, licking the frosting off before placing another peck on his lips. As the kiss deepens, Namjoon tastes the sweetness and for a while he ponders whether its the cream or Seokjin who's sweet.

When Namjoon pulls away to breathe, Seokjin's lips, pink and plump, form a smile.

"Not exactly what I needed but-" Seokjin laugh as he points towards the mixer. Namjoon takes a step closer to inspect the mixer and he's immediately met with the smell of electrical smoke. He tilts the top upwards and the whisk is already deformed, looking like it mashed.

Inside is butter cream with droplets of black and blueberries and large sticks of butter. Namjoon assumes this is what caused the mixer to break and as he looks around, the counter and even Seokjin himself is covered in butter cream and black food coloring.

"I was experimenting making a blueberry cake frosting for you but I miscalculated and added too much butter and blueberries." Seokjin explains, pouting. "Sorry, I should've been more careful."

Namjoon chuckles and pecks Seokjin again, "It's okay, baby."

"We'll just buy you a new mixer, yeah?" Namjoon takes a piece of tissue and pats Seokjin's hair to remove the cream from each strand. "Don't be sorry, It's alright to make mistakes sometimes."

"But I wanted to make you something today, and now it's ruined." Seokjin pouts again.

Namjoon's mouth forms a big smile. Seokjin's the most selfless person he's ever met. "As cute as that pout is, please don't baby."

Namjoon uses his fingers to push the corners of Seokjin's mouth upwards. He laughs seeing his goofy face. "You look pretty when you smile."

"You're teasing me." Seokjin says pushing Namjoon away. And Namjoon can only laugh at his husband, "I'm not teasing you, It's true, baby!"

Seokjin looks back at Namjoon, one eyebrow raised. "Am I pretty?"

"The prettiest." Namjoon replies, taking his hand and kissing it gently.

And as Seokjin leans on the counter, Namjoon pulls him close, wanting another kiss. But before his lips meet the older's, a cold sensation hits his cheeks.

He opens his eyes to see Seokjin slapping a handful of the blueberry cream. "Well, not gonna lie, babe, but you don't look too good right now." He laughs slipping under Namjoon's grip with the bowl of blueberry cream.

And Namjoon freezes there in surprise, before wiping the cream off his cheek. "Oh, it is on, baby."

Like a scene from a movie, as the sun shine through the window and the birds sing, Seokjin laughs as he throws another handful of blueberry cream and it hits Namjoon directly on his face.

As revenge, Namjoon threw an egg which hit the back of Seokjin's head.

"Nice shampoo, babe!" Namjoon teased him which resulted in Seokjin chasing Namjoon with half a bag of flour and him pouring it inside Namjoon's shirt.

"Nice powder, babe!" Seokjin replied, mocking Namjoon's low voice.

Just as Namjoon was about to forfeit and suggest they clean the kitchen, Seokjin suddenly jumped Namjoon from behind and flipped the whole bowl of frosting over his head. Seokjin laughed and ran away and Namjoon chased him around the kitchen trying to catch him.

After rounds of circling around the kitchen, Namjoon grabbed Seokjin from the back, hands wrapping around Seokjin's small waist.

The kitchen was filled with giggles as Namjoon accidentally bumped his own head with the bowl against Seokjin's.

Seokjin turned around in Namjoon's arms and giggled as he removed the bowl from Namjoon's head making it fall to the side. His own arms wrapped around Namjoon's neck and the back of his head where his fingers were met by the frosting he had dripping on his hair, making him laugh.

Namjoon pressed his forehead against Seokjin's, breathless after running around. He closed his eyes and felt the frosting all over his and Seokjin's body.

"I'll just stick with chocolate chip cookies." Seokjin whispers, making Namjoon laugh.

"Bake with me?" Seokjin asks, and it's more of an command than a question.

"For as long as I live, love." Namjoon replies, smiling.

Their lips meet and Namjoon pulls Seokjin closer, he shivers as he feels Seokjin's hands travel the back of his head.

"I love you." Seokjin whispers as he breaks away for a second. They kiss again. It's messy and it's sticky, Namjoon thinks, but even so the sweetness never left. It's messy yet sweet and Namjoon wouldn't want it any other way.

This time Namjoon breaks away. "I love you too."
