Chapter Text
You woke up to a tapping sound at your window. You sat up, disoriented and glanced at the alarm clock, 2:45, what the hell? You looked over at the window wondering what was making the sound and was surprised to find it being pelted by rocks. You begrudgingly got up and walked over to the window. You then opened it and narrowly missed being nailed in the head by a rock. "Oops, sorry," called a voice and you looked down to see Robert grinning up at you.
You sighed, "What is this, a shitty rom-com? Robert what do you want, it's the middle of the night."
Robert shrugged, "Can't sleep, come down here, you're gonna keep me company."
Before you could reply, he disappeared from view, presumably to wait at the door. You rolled your eyes but decided to humor him. You were awake anyway and besides, it was Robert. You had long since accepted that you had fallen for Robert Small, the tough dad with a heart of gold. You'd also long since accepted that he wasn't going to start liking you back any time soon. Sure he had a tendency of pulling stupid shit like this but it didn't mean anything. And then there was the whole thing with him, Mary and Joseph. You pushed the thought out of your mind, no use thinking about it too much.
Getting dressed as quickly as possible, you headed downstairs and out the door. "Hey, Robert."
Robert nodded in response, "Let's go." He gestured to the driveway and you were surprised to see that his car was not parked there. Instead, there was a motorcycle with two helmets hanging off the handlebars.
"We aren't driving?" You asked nervously.
Robert smirked, "Never rode a motorcycle before?" You shook your head, "Don't worry about it, this makes it easier to get where we're going.
"You followed him as he headed over to the bike. "Where are we going anyways?"
"Cryptid hunting," Robert said vaguely, "Hop on." He tossed you a helmet, got onto the bike, and waited for you to do the same. Once you were seated behind him he said, "Hold on tight, we don't want you falling off."
You hesitated, "Hold onto what?"
He looked over his shoulder, "Me, obviously." You felt yourself blush as you awkwardly put your arms around his waist. You leaned as far back as possible, not sure of how close Robert was willing for you to get.
Robert looked back again, "You can get closer than that you know," you started to protest, stammering but he cut you off, "Hey relax, I don't bite, usually," he said teasingly.
You shut up, blushing and he chuckled facing the front again. "Alright, let's go," he said as soon as you'd repositioned yourself, practically hugging him from behind. The motorcycle started with a roar and the two of you tore out of the driveway. Soon you were speeding away from the town. The noise of the bike left no room for conversation which was fine by both of you. So the two of you rode in easy silence. Eventually, you felt yourself grow drowsy and fell asleep, your head resting against Robert's back.
Moments later you felt yourself jolted awake as Robert skidded to a sudden stop. You blinked, trying to remember where you were. Realizing you were still leaning against Robert, you hurriedly untangled yourself and hopped off the bike. "Sorry, I didn't mean to do that." You said, not specifying what 'that' was.
Robert shrugged, getting off the motorcycle as well, "Don't worry about it."
You looked around at where you were for the first time. Underneath the moonlight, a forest loomed before you ominously. You shifted from foot to foot, "Are we going in there?"
"Is there a problem with that?" Robert asked, rummaging through his jacket pockets. He pulled out a flashlight and tossed it at you, "Take this."
You flailed at the flashlight and nearly dropped it but managed to just hold onto it. "Thanks," you said, staring into the forest once more. You couldn't stop fidgeting. Goddammit [L/N], be cool.
Robert has somehow gotten ahold of a flashlight of his own, how big are his pockets? "Let's go, shall we?" He said, gesturing towards the trees, "After you."
