Well That Was Unexpected

Summary:

Two boys feel the same way about each other, but one of them is having trouble accepting his feelings. That is until one of them finally admits what they both feel and the other accepts his feelings and accepts his partner's also.

(I'm sorry I'm horrible at summaries but please give my story a shot before you drop it.)

Notes:

Hey guys, gals, and non binary people. I am back with another story and I'll admit that I was going to write angst, but my mind decide that it wanted fluff so here it is! (P.S. I didn't know how I wanted to end the story so don't come after me >.<)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Knock Knock Knock

“What do you fucking extras want, huh?!” yells Bakugou from his desk chair.

He was currently doing the homework that Present Mic left them after he finished teaching and in his opinion, it was very easy to finish. Bakugou has always been smart in the school related subjects, but outside of that? Yeah, he wasn’t as much, but he wouldn’t tell that to his group of extras that call themselves The Bakusquad. A very stupid name, but he does appriciate them, though he won’t, not in a million years tell them that of course.

“Can I come in, Bakubro?” says the person that Bakugou can tolerate the most.

The one and only Kirishima Eijiro. Recently Bakugou has started to notice little things about him, like the fact that Kiri likes to wear crocs wherever he goes, sticks his tongue out when he is focused, tilts his head to the side when he is confused like a lost puppy would do, and loves to look at memes.

At first he didn’t want to think about the possibility that he was starting to like Kirishima because he was a guy after all. How can he like another guy? It wouldn’t be right, but he started seeing on social media that there are couples out there in the world that aren’t just exclusive to girl and boy relationships. There are girl and girl, and boy and boy relationships as well.

By seeing all this, he started to feel better taking notice of another guy, but he is prideful of himself and won’t admit that he has started to take a fancy of Kirishima.

“Fine, yes come in.” replies Bakugou.

When Kirishima enters Bakugou’s room, he notices that Bakugou is wearing glasses and is wearing comfy clothes rather than the school uniform. Makes sense if you think about it because who likes wearing those uniforms.

“You wear glasses?” says Kiri while giving Bakugou that confused look a puppy would give its owner.

Shit. He forgot to take his glasses off before telling Kiri to enter his room. He doesn’t like wearing his glasses, but when he’s alone and doing homework, he’ll make an exception.

“Don’t you fucking dare tell anyone that I wear glasses, got shitty hair? Or I’ll fucking kill you.” replies Bakugou with small explosions going off in his palms.

“Okay okay man, I got. I won’t tell a soul, but that’s not very manly of you Bakubro.”

“Whatever. What do you fucking want anyways hair for brains?”

“Oh that's right. I was hoping if you could help me dye my roots, they’re starting to show and I’m not that good at dying my hair.” replies Kiri with a sheepish look while rubbing the back of his neck.

Bakugou noticed that he does that when he is nervous or unsure of something. Kirishima also fidgets with his hands when he is anxious. These types of things are what Bakugou notices about Kirishima and the voice in head keeps telling him that those are things someone would notice in another person that they like.

Whenever that voice says that, Bakugou would just push to the back of his mind and forget about it.

“Why the fuck would I help you?” says Bakugou with a glare in Kiri’s direction.

“Well your parents are fashion designers, so I figured you would have worked with them at some point and that since you worked in that sort of field, you have also worked with makeup artists and stylists. So you are the most qualified person to help me with dying my roots again.” says Kir with a nervous chuckle at the end.

“You aren’t fucking wrong about that, but I won’t fucking help you.” says Bakugou with a straight face.

“I didn’t want to do this, but you leave me no choice Bakubro.”

“What the fuck are you talking about?” says Bakugou with a scowl on his face.

“Guess I’ll have to ask Midobro if he can help me, maybe he will do a better job than you.” says Kiri with a challenging look.

“You think that fucker can do a better job than me, huh?!?!”

“Well you didn’t want to help me, so I was going to ask hi-” before Kiri could finish his sentence, Bakugou got up from his desk chair and started walking in Kirishima’s direction.

“Fuck that fucker! I can do a fucking bettere job than that damn Deku! Come on we’re fucking going to the drug store to buy you some fucking red hair dye.” says Bakugou while walking to his door, not waiting for Kirishima to catch up with him.

Meanwhile in another place…

“Acho!”

“Bless you Midoriya.” says iida with his up-tight voice and doing that hand chopping thing he does with his hand.

“Are you getting sick Midoriya? *ribbit*” ask Tsu while putting her pointer finger to the corner of her mouth and sticking a bit of her tongue out.

“No. At Least I don’t think so?” says Midoriya but he says it more like a question rather than an answer.

“Oh! Maybe someone is talking about you deku.” says Uraraka.

“Buy why would he sneeze if someone is talking about him?” asks Todoroki.

“Well it's said that if you sneeze once, then someone is talking about you.” replies Uraraka.

Back to Bakugou and Kirishima…

“Alright! We got everything we need, right Bakubro?” ask Kiri while he is taking everything out of the bags they brought the stuff in.

They were currently in the boys bathroom, getting ready to start to dye Kiri’s roots red again. The trip to the drug store was, for lack of a better word, eventful. Along the way, they found a kitten that was abandoned in a box in an alleyway. Kirishima didn’t want to leave the kitten, so he picked it up from the box and took it with them to the store. Surprisingly the store owner didn’t say anything about the cat in the store so they continued shopping.

Once they came back, they went to Koda’s room to ask him if he can ask the kitten what gender it is. Turns out it’s a boy and was left in the box by its previous owner. Bakugou said that they could take turns caring for the little guy, until they found him a new owner. Kiri was happy at first, but later got a bit disappointed that they would have to bid goodbye to the kitten when they find him a new owner.

“Yes shitty hair, we fucking got everything. Now stay fuckig still so I can dye your hair.” says Bakugou after he mixed the dye together with whatever else was in the box.

After Kirishima sat still in the stool in front of the bathroom mirror, Bakugou started parting his hair into sections. Surprisingly enough, Kirishima’s hair is extremely soft. As soft as a cloud, he would even dare to say. Bakugou thought Kirishima’s hair would be brittle and rough considering the amount of gel he puts in it every morning before school.

After parting it into sections, Bakugou started dying Kirishima’s roots with the red hair dye. What he didn’t notice was the way that Kirishima kept looking at him. Now Kiri has always known that he wasn’t attracted to girls or any female for that matter. He never had crushes that were the opposite gender than him, sure he admired some females, but it never went as far as a crush.
He first discovered his sexual orientation when he kissed another guy by accident. This happened back in his last year of middle school when he was pushed by one of his friends into the direction of another one of his friends. When they pulled away from each other, they just stood there shocked until the other guy ran in the opposite direction from where they stood. Kirishima wasn’t disgusted or anything like that. In fact, he kept thinking about the accidental kiss and how soft the other boy’s lips were against his. How close his body was to the other and he started liking his friend since then in a romantic type of way.

His other friends didn’t know about his crush because he was afraid of what they might think of him. But like any crush, those feelings faded away when he entered U.A. He was happy to be in his dream school, ecstatic even, and when he first saw the angry pomeranian, it was like love at first sight. He fell hard for that boy, but wasn’t about to tell him that. No, the only person that knows is Mina and she discovered it by accident when Kirishima left his phone open with ideas of how he could confess to the angry boom boom boy.

Thankfully she was supportive of his sexuality and even proposed ideas of how to get closer with Bakugou. One of those ideas was this one, asking Bakugou to help him dye his roots. Kirishima always admired the way that Bakugou could do anything he wanted to when he set his mind to it. It was contagists and made Kirishima be bold by asking Bakugou to help him dye his roots.

Now that Kirishima is close to Bakugou, he notices that Bakugou has a strong but lean body. The glare and scowl the boy usually wears is replaced with a focused look and lips formed into a slight frown of concentration. His hands are gentle and soft from the way that Baugou is treating Kiri’s hair. And before he notices it, Bakugou is finished with dying his roots and is now putting a plastic bag over his hair as the instructions in the box says to.

“Hey Bakubro?” asks Kiri in a soft voice.

Since there is no one in the bathrooms why would he need to speak in a loud voice? It was stupid, plus he feels at peace and relaxed right now.

“What is it shitty hair?” replies Bakugou with that same tone of voice Kiri used.

It was surprising considering the fact that Bakugou is usually yelling or just being loud. It was a nice change, one that Kiri absolutely loved because in that moment, Bakugou looked so peaceful.

“Have you ever liked someone to the point that you can’t stop thinking about them no matter what you do?” Kiri says while looking in the mirror at Bakugou.

Bakugo was caught off guard by this question. Not by the question itself, more like by who asked it. Bakugou never thought that Kirishima would like someone, he always seemed like an airhead when it came to liking someone, at least to Bakugou it seemed that way.
He still has difficulty admitting to himself that he likes Kirishima, but hearing this from him, is just unexpected. Why did his chest ache when he heard Kiri ask him that? It couldn’t be because he likes him more than a friend right?

Wrong. You do like him, but you’re being a stubborn asshole who isn’t confident enough to admit it. Not even to yourself.

Shut up. Who are you calling a coward?

Why you of course! I mean if you truly weren’t a coward, you would have accepted your feelings to Kirishima a long time ago. Or am I wrong?

After that, Bakugou didn’t reply to the voice in his head. But it did get him thinking about his feelings. Was finally going to accept his feelings for Kirishima or continue playing pretend?

“Why do you ask shitty hair?” asks Bakugou while washing his hands in the sink. Some of the dye got on his hands, so he better wash it before it stains his hands.

“I’m curious if you have felt that feeling before. Of liking someone so much, but not telling them how you feel and not having enough courage to admit them.” replies Kirishima while looking at Bakugou with a calculating gaze.

“Times up. Best to wash your hair now before something bad happens.” Bakugou avoids answering the question by directing the topic to something else. He wasn’t ready to come out of the closet just yet.

“Yeah guess you’re right.”

“Put your head under the bathtub’s faucet. I’ll wash your hair out.” says Bakugou.

After they finished washing Kiri’s hair out, they went to his room considering that's where the kitten they picked up was. While drying his hair Kirishima decided that now was a good time to confess to the one he started to love. When he turned around to look at his bed, he saw a sight that he will never forget.

He saw Bakugou lying on his side, facing where Kiri was, while playing with the kitten. At that moment, Bakugou never looked as calm as he does now. He even had a faint smile tugging at his lips whenever the kitten licked the back of his hand when he was petting his little kitten head.

“Bakugou.” says Kirishima with a determined look. This change in name got Bakugou’s attention quickly considering that the red head very rarely calls him by his name.

“Hm?” hums Bakugou back as his answer that he’s listening.

“I um... I uh... I l-l-like you!” Kirishima quickly says while unconsciously closing his eyes.

His heart was beating so fast in that moment that he was afraid that it would jump out of his chest at any moment. The loud Bump Bump from his beating heart was vibrating inside his head so loudly, he thought Bakugou would be able to hear it. Since his eyes were closed, he wasn’t able to catch the shocked look from Bakugou or the fact that the boy was holding his chest as if his heart would jump out of his chest.

There was silence for a moment as both boys tried to process what was said and what was happening. All the while, Bakugou was trapped inside his head, hearing that pesky little voice once again.

HA! He has more balls than you, being able to confess to you like that.

He… He likes me? Why? He shouldn’t like me. There’s nothing good about me. Sure I’m the best in class, but I’m not as social as everyone else. Nor am I as cool headed.

Does it matter? He likes you. You like him. It’s not one-sided any more. Just accept his confession and discuss it with him as to why he likes you. Stop belittling yourself.

But what if-

STOP THIS THINKING ALREADY! Do you like him or not?

Fucking course I do.

Then accept it already.

And accepting it he did. After that conversation with his consciousness, he came back to the present to a still closed eye Kirishima who liked like he was holding his breath. It would have been funny if he didn’t know the severity of the situation.

“Kirishima open your fucking eyes.” says Bakugou while sitting up on the Kirishima’s bed with the kitten now in his lap.

“Oh I didn’t realize I closed my eyes.” says Kirishima with a wobbly smile on his face.

“Yeah, right after you confessed you closed your eyes y’know.”

“S-sorry, I guess I was more anxious than I thought.”

“Come ‘ere.” says Bakugou, waving Kirishima closer to where he was currently sitting with the kitten in his lap. The kitten was asleep and he didn’t want to wake him up, so the only other choice was to have Kirishima come closer to him.
Once Kiri was close enough, Bakugou grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and kissed him on the lips. When they separated, Kirishima had a dazed look on his face, making Bakugou smirk at him.

“Does that answer your confession?” says Bakugouwith a satisfied look on his face.

He also has a small blush covering his cheeks, one Kirishima definitely didn’t miss. No way in hell could he miss that. At that moment Bakugou looked so adorable with his blush and sensual with his satisfied look and smirk on his lips.

What possessed Kirishima to do what he did after, he will never know, but he most certainly won’t complain.

“That's more than enough of an answer Katsuki~” Kirishima whispers into Bakugou’s ear while holding his chin in his hands.

The huskiness of Kirishima’s voice next to his ear stirred something inside of Bakugou. He didn’t know what it was, but the way that Kirirshima looks in that moment is beyond words. This is a side of him that Bakugou never sees, but he likes it. And he wants to see it more, wants it to be directed only to him.

“I’m glad Eijiro~” replies Bakugou with his blush ever present still. The only difference is that Kirishima also has a blush now and is looking quite pleased.
