Chapter 1: Little prince Mingi

Chapter Text

When Mingi was little, his mind was full of wonder.

The universe was so intriguing. The way stars were always there even during day time, the way water thrummed louder beneath the ground, the way summer and winter varied on different lands.

He had many questions but a few answers.

The universe was intriguing, and the many wonders humans created were just as wonderful.

Take books for example. Some had only words, some only pictures and some both. Some made you laugh some made you cry.

For Mingi there seems to always be a clear divide between happiness and sadness.

And yet when he had picked up a little book about the little prince he wasn't so sure it was one or the other.

That's when he realised many things were bitter sweet.

The little prince had cared for his rose and left, leaving him eventually with deep sorrow.

And at times he realised there were many other roses, yet none of them were his.

Mingi wondered if the little prince was reunited with his rose on his little planet. He hoped so. For a while he had slept surrounded by roses, nuzzling their red petals and dreaming about that planet.

One morning, the sun peaked and bathed the earth a golden colour and he felt the ground shake.

Or rather the rose he slept in.

"Hey!"

He rubbed his eyes tiredly, looking down at the source of the voice. It was another fairy, red in the face with messy hair. They were also young.

"Come down! You'll damage the petals you twig!"

"T-twig?" Mingi squeaked, coming down quickly and stumbling as he hit the ground. "Who are you?"

The fairy huffed. Now that Mingi looked closer, he was a forest fairy.

The fairy huffed, "Hongjoong...Why were you up there? It's not good for the flowers."

Mingi frowned slightly, "it's not?..'m sorry."

Hongjoong shook his head, he touched the stem as if communicating with the beautiful flower.

"You understand roses?"

"Mhm."

"Can roses.. um," he stared up at the red petals, "can roses tell when you care for them?"

Hongjoong nodded confused, it was common knowledge that flowers could always tell when a person cared for them, especially if the carers were fairies.

Mingi was relieved hearing it.

Maybe the rose knew the little prince cared.

He'd be relieved if the rose knew.
