SCP-11037 - Queen of Despair

Summary:

The SCP-Foundation uncovers a very interesting subject.

Notes:

Writer's block surrounding Welcome Home Tord is still biting but I'm still gonna get it done, don't worry. Meanwhile, Danganronpa is still refusing to let go of my brain and this...thing popped into my head so I figured, better not let it go to waste.

I think Junko would make a great SCP, don't you?

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: SCP-11037

Chapter Text

Item #: SCP-11037

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-11037 is to be kept within a standard humanoid containment cell at Site-19. Any requests she makes are to be monitored strictly. Two armed guards are to be stationed outside of her cell at all times and are not permitted to attempt to engage with her unless she tries to escape. Any shows of intimidation or attempts at manipulation are to be ignored. Under no circumstances is SCP-11037 to be in contact with any instances of SCP-11038.

Description: SCP-11037 is a young woman of Japanese descent who goes by the name of "Junko Enoshima". SCP-11037 has also claimed to have once held the alias "Ryoko Otonashi", though she currently refuses to go by this name, dismissing it as a "been there, done that" scenario. SCP-11037 will answer to either her given name or her numerical designation and has even claimed that she prefers being referred to as the latter, stating that the dehumanizing nature of it brings her "delicious despair". She is 18 years old, 169 centimeters (5 feet, 7 inches) tall and weighs 45 kilograms (99 pounds). She has long strawberry blond hair tied into fluffy pigtails and always held in place with clips resembling bears. SCP-11037 claims to be the twin sister of the late Mukuro Ikusaba and DNA testing has confirmed this relation. Though the subject's first language is Japanese, she can speak fluent English and claims to be fluent in other languages as well, including Spanish, French and the now dead Novoselic language.

When she was apprehended by the Foundation, SCP-11037 was in possession of a robotic teddy bear with a "bisected" black and white color scheme and an artificial intelligence installed into it, designated SCP-11037-1, which has since been dismantled and deactivated. When questioned about it, SCP-11037 referred to the bear as "Monokuma" (a portmanteau of "monochrome" and the Japanese word for "bear").

SCP-11037 at first glance appears to be largely normal, and testing has brought back no indication that she's anything but human, but she has displayed intelligence far beyond that of an ordinary human being, possessing analytical skills rivaling those of particularly keen-eyed anomalies and most notably an uncanny ability to instill an intrinsic sense of hopelessness in those she interacts with. The nature of this ability of hers, be it anomalous or simply standard manipulation tactics is unclear. SCP-11037 has confirmed that she is responsible for the states that the instances of SCP-11038 are in. Subject switches between multiple personas frequently. Whether or not these personas are a genuine case of Dissociative Identity Disorder like intern Fukawa or if the subject simply does so for her own entertainment has not been confirmed. These personas consist of:

* Default: Subject looks and speaks typically, though her personality comes off as "perky" and cheery.

* Queen or Empress: Subject suddenly obtains a small plastic crown on her head. Her accent changes as well, using more "noble" inflections; when speaking English, she affects an English accent and uses a Royal "We".

* Cool: Subject strikes poses that she seems to view as "cool", most notably standing up with her back bent backwards and covering her face with one hand. Speaks in a calm, almost monotone voice.

* Punk: Subject sticks out her tongue and affects a "punk rock" pose. Speaks in a deeper, scratchier voice.

* Smart: Subject's pigtails inexplicably become a ponytail, she obtains glasses and a clipboard from seemingly nowhere and her breasts become larger (explained by subject to be done through use of a push-up bra). Subject speaks in an analytical tone in this persona.

* Cute: Subject's pigtails become smoother and form a heart when seen in silhouette. Subject smiles constantly in this persona and speaks in a childish, stereotypical "cutesy" voice.

* Sad: Subject visibly starts to tear up and cast her eyes to the ground. Small mushrooms inexplicably pop out from her head. Speaks in a quiet, depressed sounding voice.

* Monokuma: Subject holds SCP-11037-1 up to her face and speaks through it like a puppet in a high-pitched, screechy voice.

SCP-11037 first came to Foundation attention when she attempted to cause an XK-Class End of the World Scenario. Though it took several months, Foundation intervention managed to avert the crisis. While this was occuring, SCP-11037 had corrupted a group of her schoolmates from ████'█ ████ Academy, currently designated SCP-11038, to become her "Ultimate Despair"; afterward, she trapped fifteen students from the [REDACTED] Class in the school, erased their memories and trapped them in a "Killing Game" where in order to escape they had to kill each other without getting caught--those who did get caught were executed and if they didn't get caught, the rest of them get executed instead. Five students were murdered, three were executed and one committed suicide; six students survived and have since been inducted as trainee Foundation personnel. SCP-11037 utilized SCP-11037-1 as a proxy whilst controlling it from the control room until her ruse was exposed by trainee researcher Naegi and trainee investigator Kirigiri. During the escape attempt that followed, SCP-11037 was apprehended by Foundation personnel while the six survivors were taken in for medical treatment.

Recordings of the "executions" were discovered in the wreckage of ████'█ ████ Academy--said recordings have been designated SCP-11037-2 and archived for further analysis (see video logs below).

Video logs of SCP-11037-2:

Video 1: "The 1,000 Blows"
Subject: Kuwata Leon, the "Ultimate Baseball Star", condemned for killing Ultimate Pop Sensation Maizono Sayaka with a knife.
Contents: Kuwata is dragged by his neck to a room where he's strapped to a pole. A large Gatling gun-like device appears and is filled up with baseballs. The rest of the members of the [REDACTED] class watch from behind a chainlink fence while SCP-11037-1 emerges with a baseball cap and a bat. The baseballs are fired at incredible speed at Kuwata, causing visible damage to his body, the device rotating around him to ensure that he's bludgeoned on all sides. Kuwata dies from his injuries as the rest of the class look on in varying states of horror.

Video 2: "The Cage of Death"
Subject: Owada Mondo, the infamous "Ultimate Biker Gang Leader" who once led the [REDACTED] bosozoku gang; he was guilty of killing Fujisaki Chihiro, the Ultimate Programmer, by hitting his head with a dumbbell.
Contents: Owada is strapped to a motorcycle with an instance of SCP-11037-1 steering. The motorcycle is sent to a circus cage, where SCP-11037-1 abandons and the motorcycle is sent spinning out of control inside the cage. Electricity courses through the cage and Owada begins screaming before the spin ends. The motorcycle slows to a halt and Owada is nowhere to be seen. A microwave-like device is present nearby and a packet of "Mondo Butter" emerges from within.
NOTE: It would appear that the "butter" is the result of Owada's body being pulped into a liquid-like composition from the speed of the motorcycle.

Video 3: "The Burning of the Versailles Witch"
Subject: Yasuhiro Taeko the "Ultimate Gambler", better known by her preferred alias "Celestia Ludenberg"; guilty of murdering Ishimaru Kiyotaka (the Ultimate "Moral Compass") and Yamada Hifumi (the Ultimate Doujin Author).
Contents: Ludenberg is tied to a stake and calmly steeples her fingers with a serene smile. A masked instance of SCP-11037-1 emerges with a torch and lights the hay underneath her on fire. Ludenberg smiles up at the ceiling as the flames consume her. Suddenly, a larger than normal fire truck appears and speeds towards Ludenberg, ramming into her and killing her instantly. SCP-11037-1 puts out the remaining embers of the flame.
NOTE FROM DR. ██████: After questioning the survivors, it would appear that the strange nature of this execution, coupled with Ludenberg's demeanor throughout it, has to do with Miss Ludenberg's desire to die a "dramatic" and/or "dignified" death and SCP-11037 deciding to kill her in a comical, anticlimactic manner instead. Sadistic bitch...

Video 4: "Excavator Destroyer"
Subject: "Alter Ego", an artificial intelligence created by Fujisaki Chihiro before his death; not actually guilty of a murder, but executed in place of Ogami Sakura, the Ultimate Martial Artist, who committed suicide to protect both her classmates and her family's dojo, which SCP-11037 was holding hostage.
Contents: Alter Ego is activated and smiles at the camera before glancing around nervously upon noticing a loud rumbling. The camera pans out to reveal a large backhoe appearing, piloted by a muscular instance of SCP-11037-1 wearing construction gear. Instance uses the backhoe's arm to crush Alter Ego before crumbling its laptop into a large sphere, which is then decorated with SCP-11037-1's face.

Video 5: "After School Lesson"
Subject: Naegi Makoto, the Ultimate "Lucky Student", who was falsely accused of killing Ikusaba Mukuro.
Contents: Naegi is placed on a schooldesk on a conveyor belt being carried towards a trash compactor. SCP-11037-1 has a large chalkboard in front of him. Naegi gets more and more visibly distressed as he approaches the compactor before closing his eyes in anticipation. Alter Ego suddenly appears on the compactor's screen and overrides it before dropping him through the door beneath, rescuing him.

Interview Log 1: SCP-11037

Dr. ██████: Hello SCP-11037.

Subject is in her "default" persona

SCP-11037: What's up, doc?

Dr. ██████: I am here to speak to you about what you call "the Kamakura Project".

SCP-11037: Kamakura, Kamakura, yass queen!

Dr. ██████: SCP-11037 please, treat this more seriously.

Subject shifts into her "queen" persona

SCP-11037: Terribly sorry, dear! We simply feel legally obligated to respond to references to Kamakura that way, for some reason! Do go on.

Dr. ██████: We need to ask what exactly the Kamakura Project entailed. We know it had something to do with SCP-11038-1, but he so far has been refusing to cooperate.

Subject shifts into her "sad" persona

SCP-11037: Oh. Well, that sounds like him, yeah. He's not big on things that bore him.

Dr. ██████: SCP-11037-

Subject shifts back to her default persona

SCP-11037: Oh please, doc, call me Enoshima!

Dr. ██████: You know I can't do that, SCP-11037.

Subject shifts into her "cute" persona

SCP-11037: Tee-hee! Of course I know that! I'm just messin' with ya! Please, by all means, keep calling me by my number! Keep dehumanizing me! I hope I forget my name soon! I can think of nothing more despairful than losing sight of my own humanity while being held prisoner like this!

Dr. ██████: ...We are getting off topic, SCP-11037. Let's just cut to the questions of the Kamakura project. What exactly was it?

Subject shifts into her "smart" persona

SCP-11037: Ah, well, of course a man of science would want to know that. Well, honestly, I wasn't the one who started the Kamakura Project. It was started by ████'█ ████ Academy to create the "Ultimate Hope". You can probably guess that I'd not be willing to join in with such a thing, but the project was easy for me to take advantage of. The subject that became Kamakura was sapped of all humanity in the process, so he was easily susceptible to my machinations. It was laughably easy, honestly. He had no empathy for anything or anyone. I said "jump", he said "how high?" With that, he helped me start the Tragedy...or at least he would have, if you guys hadn't stopped us.

Dr. ██████: We hadn't been able to find any records of who he was before the project. Would you be willing to enlighten us on that information?

Subject shifts back into her default persona. She is oddly silent.

Dr. ██████: SCP-11037?

Subject remains silent.

Dr. ██████: We are asking you to cooperate. If you're not going to do so, we can put you back in containment.

A few more seconds of silence, then subject smiles.

SCP-11037: Your last name is ██████, right doctor?

Dr. ██████: ...Yes, but I don't know what this has to do with-

SCP-11037: Did you happen to know a "Hajime ██████", by any chance?

Dr. ██████ is silent for a moment.

Dr. ██████: How...How do you know my grandson?

Subject shifts into her "punk" persona.

SCP-11037: Oh this is too [EXPLETIVE] sweet! Perfect question to be asking about the Kamakura Project!

Dr. ██████: ...What happened to Hajime?

Subject shifts into her "cool" persona.

SCP-11037: That's for me to know and you to find out, doctor.

Dr. ██████ stands up and grabs subject by the collar. She shifts back to her default persona as he does so.

Dr. ██████: WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY GRANDSON YOU BITCH!?

SCP-11037: Manhandling a lady, doctor? That's not very polite of you.

Dr. ██████ slowly unhands SCP-11037 and collapses into the chair, holding his head.

Dr. ██████: I...I...No further questions, SCP-11037.

Dr. ██████ leaves the room. Subject is escorted back to her holding cell. Dr. ██████ has been unresponsive since the interview.

END LOG

Notes:

The twist regarding the doctor probably sucks, but I had this image in my head of Junko filling the researcher interviewing her with despair by bringing up a dead relative and figured I could just merge the two together. I also wanted to include an interview between the Foundation and the survivors, but it was already getting really long. Maybe next time.
