Chapter Text
“Momo, Darling are you almost ready?”
“In just a minute Mother.”
Momo’s mother’s footsteps could be heard disappearing down the hall. And with them Momo let out a sigh.
She was to be engaged with Prince Shoto of the Todoroki family. Their marriage would bring a prosperous golden age to both their kingdoms. Or at least that is what she told herself to convince herself that she would not regret this. Momo didn’t have any say in her own fate and sometimes she wished she was born a commoner-
“Princess? Princess, everyone is waiting for you! Are you okay there?”
She sighed again. She shouldn’t think those thoughts.
“Come in Mina,” the elegant door to the Princess’s quarters opened and Mina was careful to not let the giant door slam closed.
“Do you need help putting on your dress Princess?” Mina asked with a sincere smile. She knew the Princess didn’t want this just as much as she didn’t either. Momo nodded silently. The servant girl moved closer to help.
The dress was truly gorgeous. Made by a famous designer from another kingdom, a gift from the Jirou family. Their daughter, Kyoka, had been great friends with Momo when they were younger. The dress was a stunning light grey to parallel her deep onyx eyes. It showed against her pale skin. Paired with black tourmaline earrings that she had received from the Ida family’s youngest son, Tenya. And a Pearl necklace the Todorokis had gifted as a sign of peace and unity through the Princess.
“You look magnificent Princess!” Mina had always been an energetic girl. Her mother had served Momo’s and it seemed fit that their daughters be with each other as they had been. Mina went to grab the hair pin when Momo’s hand stopped her.
Her hands were soft and smooth, unlike the servant girl’s calloused, working hands. “I want to wear my hair down on this special day, ok Mina?”
Mina nodded and brushed the silky noir hair of the Princess. Mina was skilled in working with her hair and finished quickly. Momo set out of her room and towards the grand hall, and the man- Prince of her dreams. Soon to be her husband.
She finally arrived at the hall expecting to see her groom. With a smile on his face, maybe a slight blush on his face, or even just a hint of nervousness. But his glare was cold and not filled with any of the passion she had experienced with any of their previous meetings.
Her hands started to shake as she approached him. She wanted to talk to him about tomorrow- it was their wedding after all, but the Prince was caught off guard by a servant boy. He was tall and lean, but still muscular with a toothy smile on his face. His garments rivaled those of others. Obviously, he was in a higher position than the other servants. Taller than the prince by just a bit, they met eye-to-eye… The Prince cracked a slight smile. One that was sincere and- well something that Momo had never seen before.
The boy made his way to the Prince confidently, as if they do this a lot. Nobody paid him any mind. He was almost invisible to the rest of the gathering royals but Momo saw him, and Momo envied him. He whispered something into the Prince’s ear that made a blush creep onto his face. It was nothing scandalous, right? Royal trumpets sounded, signaling that the pre-wedding meeting was about to get started. The servant boy backed away from the Prince, not breaking eye contact.
Momo loved Shouto. Momo was going to marry him and had been set to marry him since she was a child. She loved him, and he loved her. He loved her. She was sure of it. She was sure everything would be fine.
