“I’m sorry it has been so long since I last came to visit. Seeing your name there…it’s still hard. But I couldn’t miss our day, the one day we could be ourselves with no regrets. I guess you’ll want to know what’s happened since…, well, um, I have still been managing my route same as always. Had to ask Bud and Harley for help once night, but you know I recover easily. I’m sorry you never got the chance to walk it with me. I would have loved to have you, but I know you had your friends to consider.
You’d be happy to know your blue friend is doing well. I know the night before it happened, when we were working out together, you asked me what would happen to her if your team fell apart. I didn’t know what to say. I wish I had said something then. Maybe things would have been different.
Anyways, I have looked out for her best I can in your absence. Warned her about an orange girl, very abrasive. You know the one. I think you’d be happy to know your friend and HP are dating. I know you want to know all about it, but I do not think it is my thing to tell. Better ask Undine about it next time she’s here to visit.
The light is leaving so I will have to catch the train if I am to make it to my route. You understand. You were always understanding, even on my worst days. I hope that wherever your spirit is now, you are happy.”
Gabby bent down and placed a bouquet of flowers next to a glowing green zinnia.
