Did You Mean It?

Summary:

Taking place after Road Chip, Dave starts to feel a weird sense of longing for his old rival Ian Hawke. So he comes to visit his house....and it became the night of his dreams.

Notes:

Ok look before you ask why did I make this my class made me write this one shot after I admitted I ironically ship Ian Hawke with Dave Seville from the Alvin and the chipmunks movies. And I actually wrote it. I’m sorry for bringing this upon the world. This is my villain origin story.

Work Text:

Dave looked at himself in the mirror, “Was this really worth it?” he thought to himself. He hadn’t seen Ian in forever since that whole shipwreck incident with that crazy lady and her balls…but he couldn’t hide it. This feeling inside of him, in his body, in his heart had become too strong for him to ignore. What once was memories of bitter rivalry…..has turned into regret. But why? Why is he regretting this? Why show regret to a man who has only mean a complete dick to your entire life! But, he seemed to change, he seemed to have become ‘better’ when he last saw him, and not to mention he was so...beautiful.

But he thought again, his hand in his heart, “No I can’t the chipmunks would be furious”, but it was true….it was love, he was in love with Ian. Dave contemplated for a moment, should he even bother showing up to Ian’s house? He was probably gonna reject him anyways, so was it worth it. Dave checked to see what Alvin, Simon, and Theodore were up to. The three chipmunks were doing things that he usually expecting them to do, Alvin was playing a video game, Simon was reading a book, while Theodore was enjoying some snacks.

“Hey guys,” Dave announced, “I’m going to be going somewhere so I got a babysitter for you all. Remember, don’t make a huge mess please.”

“Ugh, Dave.” Alvin groaned, “We don’t need a babysitter.” Dave ignored his complaints, knowing that he always complains about babysitters all the time. But then Theodore asked him, “Dave, where are you going?”

He stopped before he was about to leave, he turned around, nervous. Should he tell them the truth, or should he make up a lie so they won’t ask any more uncomfortable questions. Ultimately, he chose the ladder option replying, “Oh..just some music business thing. Just stay here and behave ok?” “Alright Dave, take care.” Simon chimed in, as the rest of the chipmunks waved as Dave smiled back goodbye. Then, he rushed to his car.

Dave drove as quickly as he could until he finally arrived. Ian’s place still looked the same as he last saw it. He knocked the door, waiting for Ian to open it. And to his surprise, it opened. And Ian was the one who opened it.

“Dave?”

Ian looked at him in disbelief. “Well, you look great. I wasn’t expecting you to arrive. In fact, why are you here?”

“L-Look,” Dave stuttered, “I-I know we haven’t talked in a bit and I just wanted to spend the night with you, maybe catch up with stuff if you want.” Ian thought for a moment, Dave tensed up worried if he was about to reject his offer. But once again to his surprise, Ian smirked, causing him to blush ever so slightly, and grabbed his arm and brought him inside. The two rushed to Ian’s room, and for what felt like hours talked how things have been.

“Wait? Really? You adopted them? They must be such a pain to raise!” Ian laughed. “I mean it does feel like that sometimes,” Dave replied nervously, “but they actually seem to be behaving more, but only by a fraction.”

Ian burst out in laughter, making Dave smile and blush bright red. “Your laugh is really nice Ian,” Dave told him. Ian smiled back, “Why thank you Dave, you know, you became a lot more handsome since I last saw you.”

Dave once again blushed an even brighter red, was Ian flirting with him? Why did he felt so embarrassed yet happy at the same time? Why was he so happy with a guy who literally threatened to kill his chipmunks? And most importantly, why did Ian seem to be happy with him too? Dave could have sworn that Ian had the biggest vendetta against him for the longest time. Guess people do change gradually through time. But then a question popped into his head, one about Ian, should he ask him it? He contemplated again, reluctant at first, but then he slipped the question to Ian.

“Hey,” he began, “Remember that time we got stranded in an island look for the chipmunks, and then that crazy lady tried to basically murder them, and then there was a valcano, and then you gave a big speech to the lady about how it’s never too late to do the right thing?”

Ian turned to Dave, “You mesmerized all of that? Wow those chipmunks really were quite a stir in your life?”

Dave chuckled quietly, “Well yeah, but, I have a question. When you gave that speech….did you really mean it?”

“...”

“Did I mean it?”

Dave nodded, slightly nervous that he offended him with his question. But Ian didn’t seem offended, in fact, he contemplated for a while. Dave was about to ask what’s wrong until Ian stopped him and finally replied, “I mean….at first not much. But now, maybe I do. I mean...I was kinda a huge dick to those chipmunks, and then the chipettes, and you. But now looking back, I don’t know why but I feel like I’m so much happy than I was before. And...I have to be honest I thank you for that.” Dave looked him in confusion. “No really I do!” Ian continued, “For some reason I feel like being with you on that island alone, made me rethink myself. Made me reflect. Or at least made me a better person….but I’m not sure if you feel the same way.”

Ian frowned slightly after saying that final sentence, turning away from Dave once more. Dave looked at him with sympathetic eyes, then placed his hand on his shoulder, and whispered, “I think you changed for the better.” Ian turned back to Dave after he said that, and gave a warm embrace. Both of them blushing once more, enjoying each other’s company, that was until Dave slipped out,

“I love you Ian.”

Dave stopped himself, breaking the hug quickly in a panic, Ian looked at him in complete shock. He tried to explain himself, “W-wait I-I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said that so bluntly! Fuck! What’s wrong with me? I-I just had a great time with you and I end up fucking it up! I’m so so”

“DAVE!”

He stopped.

“It’s ok.”

Dave looked at him in confusion, “What do you mean it’s ok?” Ian smiled, this time less smirky and more genuine, “I….never knew you felt that way. And, to be honest...I think I’m starting to love you too.”

Dave was taken aback by this, even starting to form actual tears, “You’re joking right?” Ian shook his head, cementing the fact that yes, he did share the same feeling as Dave too. Dave hold Ian’s face to his and he did the same thing, repeating in whispers how overjoyed he was.

Then it happened.

Dave couldn’t control himself any longer. He jerked Ian forward, tilted his head back ever so slightly, and kissed him. Ian kissed back with more passion, more control, and touched Dave’s face gently. The two no longer cared about what the world thought of them, what those silly chipmunks thought, what the crazy ball lady thought, they had each other, and they will stay together.

Dave was about to break off the kiss, but Ian requested quietly, “Stay with me”, and so Dave kissed him back more passionately. The two could only hear their whispers and breaths to each other in between their kisses. They held each other’s hands tightly, laying down on each other, continuing to express their love for each other without words. Their hands were all over each other’s body, it was pure passion, pure heartthrob magic, pure ecstasy. Ian started to pull Dave’s shirt intensely, as they both took off their suits and held on to each other tightly.

“Ian...” Dave whispered, “I...”

He wasn’t able to finish, as Ian shushed him quietly making his heart race, whispering back, “Look...I just....I just want this moment to last..” And then they went back to kissing again, a more deeper kiss at that, the two hold each other’s hands even more tightly than before, and the two both took moments to break off the kiss for gasps of air. The two were ready for this intimate moment.

The rest of the night was perfect. Pure love. They couldn’t help but enjoy each other. Their bodies clashing onto each other, each other’s gentle kisses, the begging, the intimacy, the tears of joy, words can’t describe what really went down. But maybe, it should stay that way. Finally, after hours of love, they both laid to rest and slept together for a few moments.

It was 11 PM. The two woke up and looked at each other in disbelief, wondering about what really just happened. Dave looked at Ian, looking at his beautiful eyes, “Well….um..thanks I guess. That was...truly something.”

Ian didn’t know how to respond, “Yeah...guess it was.”

The two didn’t talk for a moment until Ian asked, “So...are we a thing now or…”

Dave looked at him confusion, contemplating his question, it took him a while to answer, but finally he responded something simple, “I don’t know..guess we kinda are? I just..”

Dave paused,

“We’ll figure it out someday. Maybe we’ll figure things out by then. Guess I’ll see you soon….whenever that is.”

Ian brought Dave downstairs, and ushered him into his car. “Bye Dave,” Ian said, “Tell the chipmunks I said hi….I love you.”

Dave gave him a gentle smile, then drove off home. Thinking what the future will hold for him and Ian. Was this truly fate? Were they destined to be together? It was that just a simple facade?

There was only one thing Dave and Ian both knew. Only time will tell.
