a loud noise in my ear rang, shooting me awake. It was my 6am alarm for school. well. it was. i've hit snooze so much that it's actually 7! i have to be at school at around 7:15! I won't make it in time will i?
im y/n. I go to kamome gakuen high school, and I'm in 9th grade, well turning to 10th soon. well i'm not even sure. school is hard to keep up with at the moment, i'm always getting distracted with the rumors of ghosts i've heard at the school that lived there for centuries. I've been interested in them to an extent that I've read about the rumors.
As I got out of bed, I fixed my y/hl y/hc hair up quickly to be bearable. I better set a good impression for school today, because today is the day they’re electing a new class president, and I'm one of the people who signed up !
well… I'm not setting a good example by sleeping in terribly.
I grabbed my uniform and put it on as I could, fixing it up at the edges as I grabbed my bag and ran down the stairs.
Before I went to the door I thought to myself. ‘im. REALLY. hungry right now.’ but also time is ticking. it was 7:09. ugh it wouldn't hurt to just grab a piece of toast and eat it on the run there.
I sighed, speed walking towards the kitchen's toaster, slamming a toast inside and cooking it, while waiting. I even prepared a coffee for myself. just how i like it.
time is ticking way too slow yet so fast. This toast takes too long to make and is the same for my coffee. Is what I thought.
“you’re not going to school today.”
is a voice that caught my attention , my so called mom.
“of course I'm going to school today mom, it's really important.” i said in a tone, tapping my index finger on my watch hoping it would tick faster.
she sighed, looking at me with a weird face. “i'm not exactly your mother anymore, but you're still not going to school today. or probably ever?”
now she's spitting nonsense, i can't tell if i want to listen to her or not, this is too important i have to set a good role. Yet I was still curious and couldn't help that.
“and why am i not going to school? Why am I not your kid? are you drunk or something?”
we always did not have enough money for anything here, she always spent it on beers. we almost couldn't afford bringing me to this school, i almost didn't have a winter uniform because of this lady. She cared more about the beers that made her spit nonsense.
“I sold you for a gallon of beer!” she seemed excited for this herself, where i instead sat there in an ocean of emotions. confusion , devastated, worry, fear?
“are you serious !? w.who the hell bought me? Why would you do that? just for beee that will expire in a second ? am i really not that important to you?!” she was so broke that she sold me, really????
“no no honey… you do, that's why i sold you! to have a better life…. or something like that.” as she said that with her monotone voice, a knock was heard at the door.
“that must be them,” she said with a smile. “go on, open the door.”
no way am i opening that. I'm standing still right here. this is crazy.
“you’re being impolite to your new father,”
hh..
i tensed up, it can't be that bad. right?
I took in a deep breath, walking toward the door, glancing at my mother who impatiently waited. she wanted that beer so bad did she?
before another knock could sound, i flung the door open with my eyes closed shut for the surprise.
It was quiet for a moment, I thought it was a prank so I opened my eyes to get a peek of what's going on— and then I saw two adult men standing by the door. one had their arms crossed and looked tired yet with a weak smile. He had brown hair with an orange tint, and wore a simple black shirt with dad shorts and boat shoes.
The guy next to him had bright blonde hair, his eyes were a glowing light blue that looked down upon me, like a flashlight, or even lasers. he wore a hawaiin button up shirt with pineapples on it, also wearing shorts because of the hot weather and sandals. though he carried a duffle bag with him with a sheath of some sort poking outside of it
“um…are we at the right place? we’re here for y/n.” the blonde one spoke kind of awkwardly, yet he had a nice warm aura surrounding him.
He then looked down at my y/ec eyes. he seemed familiar somehow, like I've seen him somewhere before, at night maybe?
well i'll only know till he says his name or something. I can't believe these are my new dads.
“yup…… im y/n.”
“oh good ! i can’t wait to welcome you home! im teru. and that’s my husband akane aoi.” teru smiled widely, and now I remember. He's a famous exorcist, though apparently he retired a long time ago when he graduated school.
“akane can you give y/n‘s mother that beer?”
“it's probably expired,” Akane mumbled under his breath and laughed silently.
He grabbed a small carton filled with beers and placed them onto the counter.
I sighed. i don't know how to feel at all, i wanted to be class president and now i missed out on that, then whatever this is happening ! i'm not sure if i should feel honored or not. I mean, whatever i dont care anymore.
“let's get out of here.” teru sung into a tune with a bright smile toward his new child.
i guess he can't be so bad, akane next to him was just smiling at both me and teru. Maybe they're nicer.
Teru led me by the hand toward his car, he was pretty bright, akane squinting his eyes at the bright beams that were basically being emitted from teru.
this is gonna change my entire life in a snap.
“i'm sorry for making you skip school today, though we’ll get adjusted at home then bring you to school tomorrow if that's okay?”
the bright blond and taller one said as he opened the back seat for me. him getting into the passenger seat and akane being the designated driver.
“...i guess, i was excited to go to school today of all days actually because i was signing up to be the new class president.,,”
akane and terus eyes lit up, unlocking some memories they would never forget.
“oh don't worry about that ! we’ll help.”
I sigh. This is going to be interesting having a retired exorcist as a dad, and whoever akane was had me curious.
