Kissing Booth to Raise Money?

Summary:

The New Directions need to raise money to go to New York for Nationals. Santana comes up with the idea of a kissing booth, since Finn raised quite a bit of money from the last time they did it. Little did they know, they would be helping out two people at McKinley high school come to very helpful realizations.

Work Text:

The New Directions are going to Nationals in New York City. Problem is, they need some additional money to pay for them to go. “Mr. Schue, we need a better way to raise money than selling salt water taffy,” Santana groused. “Why don’t we do something fun?”

“And what do you suggest?” Will sighed.

“Why don’t we do a kissing booth?” she said innocently. “And I promise I won’t give Finnocence mono again.”

“I don’t know...” Will hedged.

“Why not?” Puck asked. “We all know that either people want to kiss the more popular ones of us, and others have a fetish about kissing some of the odd balls.”

“Hey!” Artie protested. Brittany hopping in his lap and kissed him.

“Why not? We can schedule times for everyone, and have it last all week,” Santana said. “We have enough people, and we’re hot like fire. People will be lined up to kiss us.”

“Look, I can’t officially sanction it, but if you can get the approvals, then you can do what every you want with it – within reason,” Will said, holding his hands up in surrender.

Will was shocked but not when Santana had the paperwork approving their plans for a kissing booth, and a schedule for who would be manning the table and when. She passed the schedules out and mostly everyone seemed happy about when they would be setting up shop. “Santana, why did you put me on the schedule?” Kurt asked. “No one is going to want to kiss the fag.”

“Don’t call yourself that!” several of the girls shouted at him.

“I know there are quite a few girls in this school that would love to kiss you,” Brittany said sincerely. “You’ve kissed me, so I know you don’t really have a problem kissing girls.”

“I know,” Kurt sighed. “I mean it would be nice to kiss another guy, but I guess I can’t be too picky. You have me Friday during lunch?”

“Yeah, I’m sure you will make the most money,” Brittany said.

“I highly doubt it boo,” Kurt said. Santana had a smirk on her face and Kurt began to feel a bit nervous.

Quinn and Finn had the first slots on Monday. The glee club people lined up first to get their kisses in. Quinn giggled but happily kissed Kurt when he offered up his dollar. They were doing pretty well. Tuesday had Mike, Tina, and Artie. There were a few surprises for who came to kiss them. Tina had a surprising number of jocks pay to kiss her, under the watchful eye of her boyfriend. Artie snorted because they all had a not-so-secret Asian fetish. Artie had several girls come up and kiss him, one of which was his beautiful girlfriend. Santana also decided she wanted a piece of him. He was panting by the time she let go of him.

“Kurtie, where’s my kiss?” Tina whined playfully. Kurt sighed but chuckled. He went over to her and gave her what was meant to be a simple kiss. Tina had other plans. She pulled him in and went all out. Kurt floundered for a bit but then decided to play along instead of fight her. There were quite a few Cheerios watching, intrigued, that the gay kid was this good of a kisser.

“Damn Porcelain,” Santana said quietly. “Who knew?”

“I did,” Brittany cheered. “He’s a really good kisser.”

“Do I get to see?” Artie teased. “I mean you’ve kissed my current girlfriend and ex-girlfriend. If they say you’re a good kisser, I feel like I gotta check it out for myself.”

“What?” Kurt asked, shocked.

“Who the hell cares if you’re a dude,” Artie said. “Maybe we can turn this school on its end. Make people care less about you being gay, or anyone being gay.”

“Guys, I don’t think...” Kurt started to protest, but Brittany was quick to maneuver him to sit in Artie’s lap. “I don’t want you to deal with all this.”

“That’s my decision,” Artie said simply. “If you’re alright with it, I’d like to kiss you.”

“I mean, I guess,” Kurt shrugged.

“I need a yes or no,” Artie said firmly.

“Yes,” Kurt whispered. Artie leaned in and kissed Kurt firmly. While this still made Kurt nervous, he knew he was surrounded by friends and he truly believed that they would prevent anything bad happening to him. Artie tilted his head and really kissed Kurt back. Kurt had never told anyone that his first kiss had been taken from him, but this one was a pretty good replacement. When they broke apart, there were quite a few girls who had lust in their eyes from watching them.

“I agree with Britts and Tina,” Artie said, eyes still closed.

“Well, now I feel left out,” Mike said. Tina turned to him and was practically salivating.

“Please Kurt?” Tina asked.

“What?”

“Would you kiss Mike?”

“You want me to kiss your boyfriend?” Kurt asked. He figured Artie was a fluke because Brittany was obsessed with what a good kisser she thought he was. “Am I being punked?”

Puck was the first one to laugh. “Dude, when are you gonna realize that you actually got hot this year?”

“What?” Kurt practically squawked.

“You heard me,” Puck said.

“He’s right,” Lauren agreed.

“And that makes Tina want me to kiss her boyfriend?” Kurt questioned.

“Well, after that show with Artie, I’m game,” Mike chimed in.

“Well, I guess here’s my three dollars,” Kurt said, fishing the money out of his pocket. Mike stood up and walked around the table and pulled Kurt into a kiss. This was an interesting feeling, kissing someone taller than himself. Kurt wasn’t really sure where to put his hands, but settled for Mike’s hips. Mike was cupping his face and keeping Kurt close. After about a minute, Mike drew the kiss to a close and pulled back. “I think I certainly got my money’s worth.”

“I’m glad,” Mike said. “Looks like we garnered a crowd.” Kurt turned around and saw that Mike was correct, there was a large-ish crowd gathered and watching them intently. No one had hurled insults or derogatory words at them, and Kurt was quite surprised.

“Hmm,” Kurt murmured. “Maybe people in this school are growing up.”

Wednesday had Mercedes and Sam scheduled. Kurt knew this was coming by the third day of their kissing booth. Mercedes had admitted that she still wanted to kiss him, ever since she threw a brick through the windshield of his car. And Kurt would freely admit that he really had wanted to kiss Sam at the beginning of the year. Finn had convinced him to back out of the duet and thus delay his friendship with Sam. They had finally cleared the air, and Sam told him that if he was any kind of bisexual, he would have tried to date Kurt in a minute.

The glee kids were getting their kisses in now before the masses descended upon them. “You better get your fine ass over here,” Mercedes teased, beckoning her with his finger. Kurt giggled and sauntered over to her. He plunked down his dollar bill in front of her bin and leaned across the table to kiss her. This was certainly an interesting change from yesterday; her lips were so plump and he almost didn’t know what to do with all these lips. She let him go a few moments later and she was pulling away fanning herself. Kurt giggled. “If that had just happened last year, you wouldn’t have dealt with the car problems you did.”

“You would have had to fight off Brittany,” Kurt reminded her.

“True,” Mercedes giggled. Sam was smiling at their antics. “Now go kiss Sam so we can officially open this booth.”

Kurt turned to look at Sam, questioning with his eyes. “Dude, I was the one who agreed to sing with you, I didn’t care,” Sam pointed out.

“That’s way different than kissing me,” Kurt reminded him. “You’re still new here; I would hate to ruin that.”

“Like I care,” Sam shrugged. “Now pay me my dollar and kiss me.”

“Yes sir,” Kurt saluted mockingly. The group was cheering now as Kurt leaned in and kissed Sam. Sam let Kurt lead and Kurt thoroughly enjoyed this. Sam was the one to grab Kurt’s hips, while Kurt had his hands on Sam’s neck. Mercedes and Brittany were cheering him on. Kurt broke off the kiss and was smiling. “Thank you Sam.”

“Kurt, I sometimes wish I was even just a bit gay,” Sam admitted. “You’d totally be my only.”

“Why on earth do you have to be straight,” Kurt lamented with a smile on his face. “I’m sure I will just have to survive without you being my boyfriend.”

“I’m always game for a Kurt hug, if you need a fix,” Sam teased. Kurt took him at his word and leaned in to hug the taller blonde. Kurt was experiencing something this week that he hadn’t before, acceptance by at least some of his peers, and the love of his friends, unconditionally.

Thursday brought about the tables for Rachel, Lauren, and Puck. The rest of the group had already gathered by the time Kurt managed to show up. One of his teachers had wanted to ask him a question, causing him to be late to their unofficial gathering. “Kurt! We can’t start until we get all our glee club kisses,” Rachel chastised him. Kurt stared at them wide eyed.

“You didn’t have to wait for me,” he said. “Madam T wanted to ask me a question.”

“We totally did,” Puck said, relaxing back against his chair. “Now come on, we need to open the booth, there’s already starting to be a line.”

“Fine,” Kurt sighed. He brought out his three dollars and laid them on the table in the middle. Rachel skipped around the table and practically jumped in his arms. He had to think on his feet and hold on tightly to his diminutive friend and held her close as she locked lips with him. Kurt leaned into the kiss, allowing her feet to touch back down on the ground. Rachel did everything with a gusto and thoroughness that Kurt had come to expect, and he went along for the ride at this point. When they broke the kiss, Kurt noticed that Finn had an odd look on his face. He would take time to investigate that later.

“Thanks Kurt,” she chirped. Kurt chuckled and shook his head as she skipped back around to her seat. He then turned to the next person he was to kiss. Lauren looked at him critically, taking him in.

“You’re actually pretty good looking Hummel,” Lauren said.

“Thank you?” Kurt said, trying to gauge if she were serious or not. She nodded and stepped closer. Kurt then realized that she wasn’t going to jump on him like Rachel did, so he took the final step toward her and leaned in. This was a completely different kiss. It was quite different kissing someone who was your height, and kissing a woman who – by all accounts – could break him in half. He was impressed with how Lauren kissed. She let her hands wander during the kiss and groaned when she ran her hand over his abdomen. When they broke apart she was actually smiling at him.

“You have abs,” Lauren stated.

“Yes?”

“How the hell did we all not know that you have a six pack?”

“It’s not something I actively share,” Kurt said. “I’m also not really comfortable changing in front of people, as you can imagine.”

“Well, after this week, you need to. It will make them jealous,” she said. “Most of the guys in this school, at least the ones that aren’t in glee aren’t as well defined as you; and I’m on the wrestling team. I have almost no choice but to look.”

“I will keep that in mind,” Kurt said warily. He wasn’t really sure how to take her comments, but shrugged it off. He felt a hand on his shoulder, forcing him to spin around. Puck was now right in front of him.

“You good?” he asked, making sure that Kurt was still okay with what was going on.

“Yeah,” Kurt replied, looking up at the teen. Kurt would be lying to himself if he said he hadn’t thought about kissing Puck before. Puck was a badass and did what he wanted; that was a bit of a draw for the fairly repressed gay teen.

“Always wanted to try this,” Puck murmured before leaning in and connecting lips with Kurt. Kurt’s mind was struggling to process that statement as well as process that Puck was currently kissing the hell out of him. There was some cheering in the back ground, and some giggles from the girls. Kurt did everything he could to reciprocate and keep Puck engaged. Puck’s hands were caressing his body like he would a girl, and Kurt really wasn’t complaining. Kurt had his hands on Puck’s hips, rubbing gently. Puck upped the ante by reaching around and smoothing his hands over Kurt’s backside. They both let out a small moan at the sensations. Kurt figured he would go for broke and he returned the favor, and Puck let out another moan. Kurt also thought he heard Lauren moan beside them. “Damn.”

Both guys were panting by the time they stopped kissing. “Get a good feel?” Kurt asked jokingly.

“I knew your ass would feel good,” Puck assured him. “Cheerios uniforms don’t lie, even the pants.”

“Puck,” Kurt let out a soft snort.

“That was hot,” Lauren said from alongside them.

“I’ll agree,” Kurt agreed with a chuckle.

“Dude, you looked way too into that,” Finn commented.

“So what if I was?” Puck challenged.

“Really?”

“Why?”

“Why what?” Finn asked.

“Why does it matter?”

“Because he’s a dude, and you’re not gay,” Finn pointed out, as if it were the most obvious statement in the world.

“I’ve never honestly cared about that,” Puck said. “I never picked on him because he was gay. And once I saw him in the Cheerios uniform, you could really see how hot he was.”

“You think Kurt is hot?”

“Duh,” several voices said at once.

“Finn, you’re my brother, you’re not supposed to find me attractive,” Kurt pointed out.

“I find Kurt good looking and I also find Lauren good looking,” Puck said. “You can’t help that. Why does there have to be a label on it?”

“There doesn’t,” Kurt assured him. “And it shouldn’t matter if someone is gay, straight, bisexual, pansexual, transgender, or whatever. Why should it matter?”

“Because I don’t want dude hitting on me,” Finn exclaimed.

“You should be flattered, and tell them that you aren’t interested, just like you would a girl,” Kurt pointed out. “You’ve never actually done that before.”

“What do you mean?”

“You do realize that you never once told me that you weren’t interested in me,” Kurt pointed out. “Just advice for the future. Tell any guy – or anyone – that hits on you, and you aren’t interested, that you aren’t interested. Most people will accept that and move on.”

Today was Kurt’s turn, along with Santana and Brittany. He was still quite nervous. They all had their little ritual, and the glee kids got their kissing done before the lines were allowed to form. He was kissed once more by the guys had already kissed early on in the week. Brittany was always enthusiastic as she kissed Kurt, and he was surprisingly just as excited. He loved kissing Brittany, because she made him feel like there was nothing wrong with him. Sometimes Kurt would imagine how Brittany would be as a boy and would be as his boyfriend. Santana took her turn next and was quite impressed with Kurt’s kissing ability. Kurt felt slightly violated as her hands roamed all over his body, and he batted her hand away as she came dangerously closer to his dick.

“Porcelain, I’m just gathering facts if anyone of the gay persuasion wants to know measurements before they try you out,” she tried to reason innocently.

“Fact gathering my ass,” Kurt grumbled. “They can come to me and find out for themselves.”

“There’s my confident Kurtie,” Brittany praised. Kurt blushed, but went to stand at his table. The girls weren’t lying when they said that a large variety of girls had actually wanted to kiss him. Virtually all of the cheerios had come through his line, all of the girls who were in the band and the AV club. His line dwindled to no more new comers and he breathed a sigh of relief. Lunch was almost over and he would be able to go take his lunch in the glee room and relax for a free period before singing his heart out at the end of the day. Kurt’s arm hair stood on end when he saw Dave Karofsky approach Brittany at the table. He paid his dollar and she kissed him sweetly. Then he moved down to Santana, who he had tried to date and make it seem like he was straight, even though Kurt was the only one – aside from Santana – who really knew it. She pulled him in for a thorough kiss. Kurt could see him resign himself to this fate and kissed her back, but not really into it at all. When they broke apart, the seemed to be silently communicating through looks. Santana reached down and squeezed his hand reassuringly. Dave took a step back and moved one more spot down the table and stood in front of Kurt. He gently placed his dollar down and looked at Kurt.

“David,” Kurt said softly. “What are you doing?”

“I’m doing what I should have been brave enough to do in the beginning of the year,” he explained quietly. “I can’t apologize enough, but I hope that I can make it up to you and maybe we can start over? Be friends?”

“You sure you really want to do this?” Kurt asked. The rest of the cafeteria was looking at them strangely.

“I need to do this,” Dave insisted. “I’m tired of hiding.”

“We do this, then you come with us to the choir room, we can hide out and ride out the storm this is sure to cause.”

“You’ll do it?” Dave asked hopefully.

“How could I deny helping someone who wants to come out,” Kurt said earnestly. “And the fact that an attractive guy wants to kiss me, even if it’s just because he wants to make a point.”

“You are attractive,” Dave admitted shyly. “It’s why I was so horrible. I’ve been attracted to you since like seventh grade.”

“David,” Kurt sighed. Dave gave him a small smile. Kurt moved around the table so he could stand in front of Dave and allowed Dave to make the first move. He steeled himself and wrapped his arms around Kurt and leaned down to kiss him. Kurt gasped when Dave kiss him, leaning in and returning the kiss. Little did they know that the rest of the club had been witnessing what was going on and Santana motioned for them to surround the pair, keeping the rest of the school from doing them any harm. Dave leaned into the kiss, releasing emotions that he had been repressing for so long, caressing Kurt gently as they continued kissing. It felt right, and they both knew it.

When they broke apart, resting their foreheads together, they stood there, catching their breath. “Come with us,” Kurt said, his voice sounding a bit deeper than usual, tugging Dave’s hands. The group surrounded the boys as they moved en mass to the choir room. Once they got there, Santana hugged both boys, as did Brittany. Rachel even came over to hug Dave.

“This why you picked on Kurt?” Puck asked, standing in front of Dave.

“Pretty much,” Dave sighed. “Evans, I am sorry about punching you.”

“I hit you back,” Sam reminded him. “We’re even.”

Dave nodded. Kurt wrapped his arms around Dave’s waist and leaned into him, trying to give him comfort as much as getting comfort. They had been texting friends since they had their confrontation in the locker room. Kurt realized how scared he must be and decided to be the bigger person and let him know that he would be there if he ever wanted to talk. “It is wasn’t obvious,” Dave began. “I’m, um, I’m gay.”

“I’m so proud of you David,” Kurt said, looking up at him.

“We appreciate you telling us,” Puck said, holding his hand out to shake. Dave accepted the hand and felt such a weight come off his shoulders. “Now you can hang around us and no one will say shit to you.”

“How do you figure?”

“Well, most people at this school actively try to avoid us,” Puck explained. “And no one dares fuck with someone Lauren cares about. Then there is the fact that Hummel could probably eviscerate who ever decided to fuck with you.”

“He’s not wrong,” Lauren chimed in.

“He’s not,” Kurt agreed. “So, will you let us hear you sing? That way you can officially join and we don’t have to let you go alone?”

“Fine,” Dave grumbled. “Let me think of a song and we can go with it when you guys have glee later.”

“You’ll absolutely be able to join,” Kurt said. “You already dance better than Finn.”

“Hey!” Finn protested, breaking him out of his stupor. “How the hell did we not know this?”

“I was pretty good at hiding,” Dave said. “I didn’t want everyone to know.”

“Only those of us who are observant really knew,” Puck said. Dave looked at him, confused. “You stared at Kurt’s ass way more than you probably realized.”

“You would notice that,” Dave grumbled.

“So we raised $1147 this week,” Artie said, quickly counting the money that he gathered from the tables before they all rushed off to the choir room. “Not too shabby.”

“Kurt raised almost $100 by himself,” Tina said.

“Really?” Kurt asked.

“I don’t know why you doubt yourself Porce,” Santana said. “We told you that you were a hot commodity but you didn’t believe us.”

“You guys all kissing Kurt actually gave me the push I needed to come out,” Dave said quietly. “If you all could kiss him, and the rest of the school wasn’t carrying around torches and pitchforks, then maybe I could do it too.”

“Glad we could help,” Puck said, clapping Dave on the back.
