The carnival was in town. The carnival didn't come often, but when it did, everyone in the city was there. From volunteers to customers. And Percy was there with his little sister, Estelle.
Their mom had given them 100 dollars to have fun at the carnival. Though his job working at Subway was able to give him 500. The bad thing was that was his half of the tip jar after 2 weeks.
They were walking around with a funnel cake, trying to find a ride that the 6 year old was tall enough to ride. The only thing was the spinning teacups and they didn't want to ride that the entire time.
They were heading to the game section. Estelle started jumping up and down while pointing. She was pointing at one of those games where you aim a water sprayer at a small hole, and the 1st one to reach the top wins. Running it was one of the most beautiful women Percy has ever seen.
She was a little shorter than he was, with silver eyes, and auburn hair. Despite having some softish features, Percy had no doubt she could kick his ass. She was wearing a silver parka, which made sense, considering it was the middle of February in NYC, and only 10 degrees above freezing (5.5 degrees for Celsius).
The brother and sister walked over to the booth. It was 1 dollar per play per person. Percy put 2 dollars down, sat down, and helped Estelle onto a seat. They played a round, before Estelle wanted to get a hot dog. Percy looked over at the concession stand, only to see a very long line.
He turned to the attendant. "Could you watch her, maybe play some games with her? I don't want to have her wait in that long line with nothing to do."
She looked at him. Then to Estelle. "Fine."
"Thank you." he said, and pulled out 250 dollars. "Use this for some games with her. Again, thank you..." He looked at her name tag "...Artemis."
Percy waited in the line for about 30 minutes, and ordered 3 hotdogs. He walked back to the game to see Artemis getting along with Estelle, playing the game over and over again. Surrounding them was a pile of plushies, ranging from Pokémon to FNaF.
He placed another dollar down. "Let me get in this game."
As it turns out, despite the pile of plushies surrounding Estelle, Artemis was very good at this game. She whooped their asses and rubbed a Foxy plush in his face.
Percy handed a hot dog to Estelle and Artemis, the latter looking confused. "I wanted to say thank you, again." He explained. She nodded in understanding and began eating.
When it was time for the siblings to leave, Artemis handed Percy a receipt. As they walked away, Estelle said her opinion. "She was nice... and pretty."
Percy looked down at the receipt. Underneath the total and everything, was a phone number. "Yea, she was."
A/N. I literally thought of this like an hour ago, and had to write it. (BTW, this game is my favorite at a carnival, maybe tied with the balloon popping one.)
