Raven stared at the digital clock in her wall. The red numbers mocked her. She was about to turn seventeen, this was her last chance to get her words, her soulmark. She wasn’t worried, she had been with Finn for years, she loved him and no one else. He was everything to her. She was sure she would get his words and that, one day soon, he would get hers. But as the minutes trickled by she started feeling a little worried. What if she didn’t get her words at all?
In her mind, getting someone else’s words wasn’t an option. She would either get Finn’s words, or no words at all. There were no other options… or so she thought.
She was starting to panic when she felt a comforting burn spread across her chest. She rushed to stand before the mirror and lifted her shirt. Right there, over the left side of her ribcage, were her words.
Words that she was sure Finn could never and would never say.

Summary
Wednesday’s stomach began to churn like a thousand bats were trying to escape her insides. Why, she didn’t know. She personally didn’t have firsthand experience with this feeling, but she had read about it. A common symptom of indigestion, fear, or excitement. She hadn’t eaten recently, so unlikely a physical symptom from her digestive tract. The feeling was more centrally located to where she knew the precise location of her stomach to be. The raven couldn’t fathom being nervous or scared of meeting her new roommate. The only other case she heard about was when her father described the moments leading up to meeting … her mother.
