Barely a Touch

Summary:

When they've discovered that they share love for Muggle music in common, and Tonks gets both an invitation and appreciative glances at her legs, she's looking forward to her first kiss from a witch, certain that Amelia Bones is attracted to her and only cautious – as one of her generation might be – to reveal that she's into women.

Notes:

A Sapphic Spring fill for the prompt Harry Potter: Any/Any – first kiss (from the_kellephant/webofdreams89) .

This piece can, of course, be read separately from the series.

Work Text:

Sitting on Amelia's carpet next to the music collection, which has been a great excuse for the invitation, Tonks has already seduced the cat to curl up against her leg. Amelia must have found her net stockings sexy, and now they are more ripped. As they are both stroking the fluffy fur, Tonks resorts to mentioning again the record her friend gave to her.

"Tiberius...?"

"Yes, Tiberius Ogden. I enjoy the company of people above my age. He’d like us to be a couple, but I’m not sure I’m… interested in men in that way."

Amelia's fingers shift onto hers, but since there's no other response, Tonks must go on. "Now when a war’s starting... I realise there are only a few of those people left who were my age in the final years of last war, and…"

"You're interested in our history."

"Yes, and in you... I could be in that way."

Amelia has certainly kissed women before. When she smiles, leaning over the cat, Tonks parts her lips.

But there's only a soft caress of a hand on her cheek, and barely a touch of a mouth against hers, rather the feel of Amelia's warm breath.

Sighing, as if fully content, Amelia sits back on her heels, and she laughs when the cat dashes away with a growl. "I hope I'll see you again." She means Tonks, not the cat.

"Oh, right... I need to get going."

It remains to be seen if this will work, after all.
