Work Text:
Bora knew not to be worried.
She knew exactly where Yoohyeon was, where she's been more often than not when they have down time. Of course the girl would want to spend time visiting Pie since the dog doesn't stay in the dorm with them. Gahyeon's scared and they're also just not home enough. So it wouldn't be fair to Pie.
It's just.. now Bora is the one that feels neglected. She's being foolish and knows full well the situation is almost laughable. She's had years of being Yoohyeon's roommate and there's been numerous times when one of them has been gone, scattered instances here and there. Now, it seems as though it's one solid block of time happening at once.
She misses her.
She doesn't want to tell her that, obviously. That information would go straight to Yoohyeon's head and Bora just can't have that. Can't have her knowing that it's hard to sleep when she's gone, difficult without the quiet lull of her breathing and ever so soft snores coming from the bunk above.
Sometimes they would cuddle and the younger would accidentally fall asleep in Bora's too-small bed. She misses that, the kisses goodnight. The way Yoohyeon looks when she sleeps, so peaceful and unbothered. Serene. None of it ever fails to set Bora's heart at ease. It's always been more in Yoohyeon's nature to be the more clingy one between the two of them, it's only now that Bora's realizing how much she gets from it as well.
She's been having a more difficult time than usual falling asleep when the bedroom door creaks open and in walks exactly what she's needed.
“Hey, you're home,” she greets, pulling the curtains back from the bottom bunk and swinging her legs over the side.
“Hi,” Yoohyeon smiles, something soft and sheepish, “Sorry, did I wake you?”
Bora laughs to herself – despite herself – decides to go for honesty.
“Ah, no. It's hard to sleep when you're not here.”
“I'm here now.”
They don't need to talk about it further. Bora prefers that they don't and Yoohyeon knows that vulnerability is probably the older one's least favorite form of emotion. And that's okay.
After Yoohyeon's gotten washed up and ready to sleep, she climbs into bed with Bora with her front pressed against her back and throws an arm around her waist. Bora's own hand moves to settle atop Yoohyeon's and she breathes out a sigh of relief.
This is what she wanted. Yoohyeon must sense it, too.
“Are you happy now?”
“Shut up,” Bora gripes at her, resisting the urge to now push Yoohyeon from the bed at the sound of her smug little laugh.
But, yeah, this is better.
