Day 18 - Favorite Spot
“So, you’re telling me you think Kuroo-san isn’t about to tear his own heart out over Tsukki?” Lev questioned from where he was lying on the ground.
They were under a tree at the city park, far in the back where most people didn’t bother walking. There was a large grove of trees, and under one of them was a perfectly soft patch of grass overlooking a small pond usually populated with ducks.
They usually brought an old quilt and some snacks along and could spend an entire afternoon lounging in the shade should the weather be pleasant enough.
Morisuke sighed from where he was, leaning up against the tree. Lev’s head was in his lap, and he was absentmindedly fiddling with the alphas hair.
“I dunno, I just think it’s kind of wild. I mean, there’s only like, what, six months left before university for us? One of them better get a move on, is all I’m saying. Besides, it’s not my place to worry about it.”
Lev laughed. “Guess it was good I bit the bullet early!” He exclaimed.
Morisuke leaned his head back against the tree, humming softly to himself.
“I guess so.”
“You don’t sound convinced.”
“I’m never gonna be convinced. I’m always worried.”
“You need to cut that out. You’ll get wrinkles.” Lev reached up and stretched at one of Morisuke’s cheeks, and he received a sharp swat to the forehead for his teasing.
“Shut up!”
The birds chirped in the tree above as a reminder of their lovely location, and after a few minutes spent in comfy silence, Lev closed his eyes.
“I love this spot.”
A breeze blew across the trees, causing a rustling in the leaves and triggering some light ripples across the surface of the pond.
It was such a nice day, their bags of chips and empty soda bottles were stacked neatly in the small cooler they’d brought along, and their school bags were abandoned with little concern on the grass.
Things were so beautifully simple at this moment.
“Wait, wait, we got off-topic. Why are you baiting me with gossip about Tsukishima?”
Lev cracked an eye open. “I thought you weren’t worried about it?”
“Oh, come on. I’d love teasing Kuroo over a courtship more than anyone on this Earth, but why do you suddenly have the inside scoop?”
Lev laughed again, such a joyful sound, and Morisuke just shook his head down at the alpha. “Spill, dammit!” He insisted.
“So, so! Tsukki actually texted me! Texted me!”
“He’d sooner die.”
“I thought so too! But he did! And he was just kinda like ‘so what’s Kuroo-san up to these days and I was like ‘don’t you have his number?’ And instead of replying to me he answered me all like ‘so what does he like?’ And by then, it was obvious.”
“I can’t believe Tsukishima would admit it, even in such a roundabout way.”
“I guess he realizes time is running out.”
Lev went quiet for a moment after this and turned his head to look out at the pond from where he was still reclined, head resting in his omegas lap.
“…we can come here again after Nekoma, right?”
“Of course we can. It’s a public park. It’s not reserved for high schoolers."
“Then let’s come again next year. And the year after that too.”
Morisuke put a finger to his chin as if thinking about it before he spoke. “How about next weekend, first?”
Lev grinned and rested his head back again, closing his eyes once more to the warm sunbeams creeping through the leaves.
“…yeah, next weekend sounds good.”
