Ever since his first meet with Heeseung actually, Jake would dare say that he already liked Heeseung - a lot. Although, at that moment, he thought of Heeseung as an admirable and talented trainee, a reserved one at that, and nothing more.
Mesmerized was one obvious way to describe how Jake felt at that moment.
Hands gripped tightly around a water bottle, he eagerly watched as Heeseung flipped on the bed and leaned against it, looking absolutely like a graceful angel and showing off his goddamn body proportions. It was such a sight to watch - every single move Heeseung did was so elegant and fitting for the concept.
Even without the special effects, it looked like Heeseung was moving almost in slow motion, sitting up and whereabout from the bed elegantly and flexibly.
"Cut! Thank you for today, you're free to go, Heeseung." The director said, and Heeseung politely bowed before he walked towards Jake.
Jake was quick to offer the water in his hands to Heeseung who accepted it gratefully.
"We're very lucky to have someone like you on our team." Jake said honestly.
"You flatter me." Heeseung smiled.
"I'm being serious!" Jake grinned. "You're very talented and you've helped us a lot."
Heeseung giggled, reaching out to gently ruffle Jake's hair.
Jake couldn't stop watching the 'Fever' MV, and he stared at his phone screen, completely starstruck and in awe at one particular person.
Lee Heeseung.
Normally he'd have waited to watch the MV with the other members for a video, but Jake couldn't resist watching the Fever MV beforehand, not after he'd personally seen Heeseung film it. Watching Heeseung film the MV even behind the scenes was mesmerizing, scene by scene and cut by cut, and Jake couldn't stop himself from watching the official MV, knowing well that he'd be amazed and utterly speechless with the editing and effects.
And he was right.
Jake was sure he was about to lose his mind even at the beginning of the music video, seeing Heeseung's facial expressions and his objectively perfect acting, the emotion and just, everything. Everything about Heeseung was perfect, his acting included. Jake would've given anything to see Heeseung act in a drama.
And as the acting scene faded out, it faded in to yet another shot of Heeseung and Jake was absolutely certain that Belift, or somebody, was out there to plot the death of him. Jake's heart pounded faster and faster as the music video went on, and watching Heeseung was so mesmerizing it gave Jake the chills.
He eagerly pressed the like button and then the replay button, over and over, again and again, for what must've been hours before Sunghoon barged in on him.
"You've been in the dorm for hours, I've never seen you be able to stay alone in one place for more than 30 minutes." Sunghoon said.
Jake fumbled to close his phone and threw it behind him.
"Learn to knock!" Jake said.
"This is literally my dorm too." Sunghoon laughed.
"Right." Jake muttered.
"What were you watching?" Sunghoon asked in amusement, flopping down next to Jake and eyeing his phone suspiciously.
"Uhm, nothing. Nothing unusual." Jake stuttered.
"That's very convincing." Sunghoon nodded, proceeding to then grab Jake's phone and type in the password.
God, why did Jake give Sunghoon his phone password?
Sunghoon looked at Jake's phone for a second before looking up, and Jake closed his eyes in both pure embarrassment and joy because he could hear Heeseung's melodic voice singing "like a fever, fever, fever" through his earbuds.
"No wonder." Sunghoon muttered.
"Listen." Jake tried to say. "I couldn't resist, I saw hyung filming for the music video and I couldn't stop myself. The way he moved and the way the lighting hit his body, you must be insane if you thought I'd be able to stop myself from watching the music video, if you thought anyone would be able to resist actually."
"I know, Jake." Sunghoon said. "I have eyes, not even I'm gonna deny that hyung did well in the shooting."
"See?" Jake asked. "Therefore please give me my phone back, I'm going to go rewatch the music video again."
"You should really stop pining over him and ask him out." Sunghoon said thoughtfully.
"He doesn't like me and I couldn't handle rejection!" Jake protested.
"You're so hopeless, he is literally in love with you." Sunghoon shook his head. "Just as you are to him."
"Yeah? And how would you know?" Jake peered at Sunghoon.
"I'm friends with both of you, I can clearly tell when you guys like somebody." Sunghoon rolled his eyes. "Heeseung hyung's not as obvious, I'll give him credit for that but absolutely anyone with eyes would be able to tell that he likes you a lot, anyone besides you apparently."
"..."
"I'm right and you know it." Sunghoon said proudly.
"You're not! Anyways, give me my phone back." Jake said, snatching his phone from Sunghoon's hands.
"You can't switch the topic forever." Sunghoon said, shaking his head.
"Oh, watch me." Jake said pettily, sticking out his tongue before the familiar acting scene of Fever played again on his phone screen.
"You know hyung, I watched the Fever MV today." Jake said softly, breaking the comfortable silence between the two.
"You did?" Heeseung asked, looking up from his ramen. "How did we do?"
"It was really good." Jake said briefly.
"And, and, you did really well." Jake continued. "Like, you looked really attractive and handsome, and you had flawless acting skills, and whenever you were dancing it was always so cool and mesmerizing, really!"
Jake bet he could've went on and on about how perfect Heeseung was in the MV, it wasn't hard to notice when Heeseung did well because he did well the entire music video.
Jake absolutely adored the way Heeseung's face lit up in delight.
"I did?" Heeseung asked, unable to hide his joy.
"You always do!" Jake said. "There's not a single song of ours where you haven't done really well in, but this one... you were just very captivating and the acting was so beautifully performed, you outdid yourself again."
"Thanks, Jaeyunie." Heeseung smiled, eyes crinkling into crescents.
Jake would've done anything to keep that smile on Heeseung's face forever.
"You did really great too, I came to watch you shoot some of your scenes for a while before I had to shoot mine." Heeseung said softly, proceeding to eat again.
"Yeah? You think so?" Jake asked, heart pounding against his chest.
Heeseung took a second to chew his food and swallow it before he continued.
"I know so. Like you said I do, you always do well too and Fever was no different. Especially when you opened the beat of the song up, you were really impressive!" Heeseung smiled, flashing Jake a small thumbs up.
"Fever was your song, though. I'm speaking objectively, you seriously did so well." Jake shook his head. "And you looked so handsome too."
Handsome enough for me to realize that I'm in love with you and want to kiss you, that is. Jake thought to himself.
"...What?" Heeseung asked after a brief moment, and to Jake's horror he spoke his thoughts out loud.
Jake wants the ground to swallow him whole.
"Jaeyunie?" Heeseung said softly, and Jake absolutely broke, not being able to hide it anymore.
"Okay, hyung. You... you heard me right. I like you a lot." Jake took a deep breath before he proceeded.
"And... I've probably liked you for a while, I'm not even sure how long it is anymore because I've had a hard time differentiating things between romantic attraction or just merely me admiring you because you're so admirable, but I ended up deciding that I like you. And you're the prettiest and most loveable person I've ever met, and it was impossible for me not to like you." Jake mumbled.
"I'd completely understand if this makes you uncomfortable, though! I'm well aware that it was sudden and not even I planned on telling you this but since you heard me, I'm telling you now, and please reject me or something if you don't feel the same way or whatever. I just... hope this won't affect our friendship if this does end up bad." Jake rambled, fidgeting with the sleeves of his sweatshirt.
"Jaeyunie..." Heeseung whispered, and Jake absolutely cannot stop his breath from hitching as he watched the older move towards him.
"I like you too. I just... never got the courage to tell you even though Sunghoon pestered me about it every day because I really didn't know what I would've done if you rejected me since I didn't want to get overconfident, yknow, and assume that you liked me just because you complimented me a lot. Sunghoon told me that you liked me countless times but I never really listened..." Heeseung mumbled.
And all of a sudden their faces were inches away from each other, Jake holding his breath as he looked at Heeseung who looked gorgeous, eyes shining and skin perfect even up close and-
"-You can kiss me, you know." Heeseung said softly, and Jake had never been glad to hear those words more, unable to resist as his arms wrapped around Heeseung's tiny waist, lips colliding and a shiver running down his spine as he felt Heeseung melt into his arms.
