Once Edgar opens his eyes, the darkness cursing him is gone. He tries to get ahold of his heartbeat- frantic, as if consumed by fear itself. One, two, even three deep breaths end up escaping from his mouth, his final measure to regain control over his own body. Edgar looks around, carefully checking his surroundings to make sure that he’s familiar with them. There’s no way he wouldn’t recognize his own room: that canvas over there, the flowerpot arranged on his desk for “inspiration”, as he always says, the paint-stained jacket he still has to wash- everything was just as he remembered it to be. Even the warmth of another figure laying right next to him.
