Chapter Text
He hadn't been able to stop Krux and Acronix from interfering with the past, interfering with Kai saving Lloyd in the volcano.
It now meant that because his nephew was no longer living, the boy would never achieve all that he had in a timeline that now no longer existed, and history would forever be altered.
Lloyd was dead and the others would blame Kai, or at the very least, not think too highly of him after this incident. Not to forget that because of the twins’ interference, the Master of Fire hadn’t unlocked his True Potential.
Aside from that, he had another problem, with the departure of the Time Twins, he was stuck here, roughly five years into the past with no easy way to return to a future that most likely no longer existed.
He had two choices: replace the version of himself that existed in this time and relive the last five years, although in this new timeline, or do the same but attempt to find Temporal Tea (which hadn’t grown predominantly in Ninjago for almost five-hundred years).
The second option would be the best course of action as there was always the (however slim) chance that Temporal Tea still grew somewhere on the island. And a few leaves would be enough for him to return him to his right time and timeline (one where Lloyd didn’t die at only ten years old).
It was easy to follow Kai back to the Destiny’s Bounty from the volcano. Unfortunately, it was even easier to replace his past self with him.
Time went on, dinner rolled around and he watched none of them notice anything amiss with him.
Although, the most perceptive of them all, Nya, was preoccupied with yelling at her brother for being selfish enough to choose a blade over the life of the kid that was prophesied to save all Ninjago.
They had a memorial, with just the six of them. It saddened him (albeit only for a moment) to think that they, in this timeline, would never get to really know Lloyd, and that their relationships with one another would not play out anywhere as significantly (not to mention that Nya and Kai’s relationship was damaged forever).
Time, of course, continued onwards, an hour - two - three, turned into a day, then a week. He set them about working and training to defeat Garmadon (again) without the prophesied Green Ninja.
They slowly returned to the best semblance of normal that they could achieve; while he looked for any sign that would tell him that Temporal Tea still grew.
