Work Text:
Running away to hide and transform when there was an akuma attack was easier when it was no longer just Marinette but Adrien was with her. They thought of better excuses and were more convincing. If people thought it was suspicious that they disappeared together during an attack, it was for very different reasons from the one they were trying to hide.
After all, they were a couple and if they got caught exiting a storage closet together, they had a ready excuse - using the free time to make out. It wasn't forbidden, right? What was more, it was expected of them and people just shrugged it off.
However, this entailed its own set of complications. If people expected them to get a bit passionate while cooped up together somewhere, they had to look the part after that. Mussed hair, kiss-bruised lips, untidy clothes, the works.
Marinette and Adrien quickly realised that while they were expected to look like that, it didn't mean that they couldn't actually enjoy getting into the part. That was how pretend make outs turned into real make outs. It was a lot more convincing when it was real kisses and impatient fingers tugging at clothes and desperately gripping strands of hair that left the marks instead of a half-hearted attempt to make it look like the real deal.
What they got out of it was of course a few more minutes to themselves and they didn't mind at all. Ending an akuma fight with a make out - they were all up for it! The hard part turned out to be stopping before it got too heated and getting back to the real world. Could anyone blame them for having so much fun? They couldn't get enough of each other and even being in a bathroom stall couldn't stop them from enjoying it. Eventually, one or the other would come to their senses. The kwamis also started to interfere because they knew their holders too well. Crisis averted.
But habits have this tricky side - they tend to sneak on people. So much so that they started doing it when it wasn't necessary. Like diving straight into the make out before they were on their way to catch the akuma. They'd break apart flushed and breathing heavily to find out that they had to be somewhere else, not kissing as if their life depended on it. Oops?
This was how on one memorable occasion they got the wires crossed while they were in Marinette's room and watching a movie. The akuma alerts sounded simultaneously on their phones. But after silencing them, instead of springing into action, Marinette found herself on her back, with Adrien above her, locked in an embrace that was quickly turning too steamy. She welcomed the fervent kisses and the familiar touches that didn't take long to get her worked up. Her hands started tugging at his shirt to get it out of the way, his lips were on her pulse point, making her see stars and ah, she could feel very clearly how excited he was about this.
"Marinette, Adrien, what are you doing?" Tikki asked, her voice loud enough to get through to them. They broke apart, looking around frantically, only to see the kwami looking helplessly at them. Plagg was to the side, laughing his head off, with a piece of Camembert in his paws.
"Sugarcube, what have we done to deserve this?" He wheezed before gobbling up the whole thing in one go.
"Seriously, this is getting out of hand," Tikki tsked.
Marinette's eyes returned to Adrien's and they both burst into laughter. The mood was ruined for sure but this helped them sober up more quickly.
"I don't know what got into me," Adrien said, wiping tears from his cheeks. "I think I have been conditioned to take an akuma alert as "make out time" and too literally sometimes." He looked embarrassed as he pushed himself off of Marinette and buckled his belt. Marinette didn't even remember unbuckling it!
"I think we both got carried away," she said while combing her hair back into a ponytail and pulling her shirt down to her waist from where it had ridden up too high. "A little."
"A little," Tikki muttered under her breath, while Plagg snickered again.
"At this rate, next time the akuma will raze the whole city to the ground by the time you are done with your disgusting activities," he noted before belching unceremoniously.
"Thanks for the vote of confidence, Plagg," Adrien shot him an unamused look.
"Can you blame us?"
No, they couldn't. Still feeling a little mortified, they transformed and headed out to find the akuma. They could only hope that this would be a one-off.
