Chapter Text
Jeno was supposed to have a nice day, but it didn't turn out that way. The incident occurred as he was returning from the cafeteria with Donghyuck, where he had purchased a milk drink, when he noticed that his English textbook had gone missing. However, he was confused by a small letter on his desk at the time.
Saying, "I just borrowed your book Jeno-yah. I will copy your assignment. Thanks!" -Jaemin♡
It's Jaemin all over again. When is that idiot going to quit acting like this, for real? Fortunately, their English lesson had ended. If Jeno doesn't have his textbook, he will be doomed.
What was the point of drawing a heart next to Jeno's name in the first place? What if someone sees it and interprets it incorrectly?
He's in a different class, but he's still able to sneak into Jeno's room to grab his book or anything else he needs. Jaemin is acting like his boss here.
"Oh, your book has gone lost once again." Donghyuck then slurped his drink.
"Right. You can't stop him." Jeno shook his head before sitting and rubbing his temple.
"Do you think you're doing a good job? Why does it seem like Jaemin's brain is empty?" The younger asked, then sat next to Jeno.
"Of course. I'm doing everything and I think I'm doing well, but that guy was the problem. Not me. Most of the time, he isn't paying attention to me." He groaned and ruffled his hair.
Jeno is Jaemin's English tutor. He's a poor English speaker who sometimes struggles to keep up with others. Jeno had known Jaemin before taking on the role of his tutor. Na Jaemin is a name that everyone has heard of. Most ladies like him since he is a wonderful person with a beautiful smile that can melt your heart simply by staring at it.
Everyone thinks he's a gorgeous young man.
He is, in fact, the genuine deal. Even when he's with his family, Jaemin behaves in the same manner.
On second thought, being overly kind is also a negative thing for Jeno.
Because Jaemin seems to be flirting with them. Hadn't he seen how they blushed when they spoke to him? Except for his family, of course.
Some females thought Jaemin liked them, so they attempted to express their feelings, but he didn't. He's simply trying to be polite. Hina is Jaemin's only female friend since she knows him well and they've known each other since kindergarten.
Jeno felt sorry for those girls.
"I guess, you will be his tutor forever." Donghyuck laughed.
"What? Hell no. I have goals in life. I'm not going to spend the rest of my beautiful life with him just for the sake of being his tutor." Jeno shrugged, keeping his books tucked away under his desk.
"Be thankful. You're very blessed to be with him." Donghyuck made a sneering face.
"No, it's a curse." Jeno sighed and sank his chin to his desk, his eyes rolling back in his head but then, two of his classmates approached him.
"Hey, Jeno," she said, poking him.
Jeno took a look at them and then sat comfortably. "What?"
Actually, he doesn't need to ask a question in the first place. He already knew what they wanted.
Why aren't they getting tired of this? Jeno will always decline of course and he's not weak.
"Can you give these to Jaemin? You two were close, right?" she said, before handing him their love letters.
"Why would I do this?" Jeno wondered, his gaze drawn to the letters on her hand.
"Come on, we can't do that because it's too embarrassing, you know?" She made puppy eyes, but Jeno only looked blankly at them.
"No, I can't do that. I'm sorry," Jeno said, lowering his head and closing his eyes. He's not interested.
"Aish. He's very mean! Just because you're close to Jaemin doesn't mean you're also on his level! You're nothing!"
"That's right, Jeno! Get yourself together! Why are you being so mean? Is it really that difficult to do this little favour? You're so selfish!"
"Oh shut the fuck up you ugly frogs! Why don't you give that fucking letters with your gross cheesy messages to Jaemin yourselves? Why pass it to Jeno? If you really want to be noticed by Jaemin then study well!" Donghyuck burst out in anger, that's why Jeno stopped him quickly before anything bad will happen.
"Hyuck-ah, stop it. It's okay." Jeno tried to stop Donghyuck from grabbing his arms.
"Of course it's not okay. Why aren't you speaking when they're bullying you?" Donghyuck then loses from Jeno's grip.
The girls didn't talk after that and just went back to their seats. It happens often just because he's always with Jaemin everytime the classes will end in the afternoon. Jeno went straight to Jaemin's house after school, that's why they were together. But they're not that close.
"Let them be. They'll get tired later."
"How about you? Aren't you getting tired?" Donghyuck glanced at him for a moment but he shrugged, so Donghyuck sighs. Jeno won't listen to him anyway.
Well at least, Jeno is not weak even though they're picking on him. It's just, Jeno didn't care about their insecurities in life, it's a waste of time if he didn't ignore them.
~
"Catch up with you tomorrow!" Donghyuck gently touched Jeno's arm before waving his hand. He's on his way home with Mark right now. He is Jaemin's friend, but he is also close to Donghyuck since they used to live next door to each other. He wanted to go immediately before it was too late. "Byebye!" Donghyuck then walks away.
Jeno lets out a sigh.
Mark makes him envious. Jeno wanted to accompany Donghyuck to his house as well. But he couldn't since he had a job.
Well, if he ended up in Mark Lee's arms then, he should learn to accept that harsh truth in the future. That Donghyuck is never going to be his.
He loves his friend, Donghyuck.
Jeno sees him as more than just a friend.
He's been there for him when he's struggling and when he's happy. But, since their friendship is more important than anything else, and Donghyuck has a crush on someone, he's ready to go to any extent to avoid losing him.
Jeno is busy organizing his belongings. He stowed his books beneath his desk, then zipped his bag before taking it and went out of the room. Jaemin welcomed him with a broad and lovely smile.
"Hi!" Jaemin gestured with his hand. "Oh, and by the way, here's your book. Thank you, Jeno!" He then gave the book to Jeno.
"You little..."
"Shh! I understand." Jaemin silenced him by placing his pointer finger over his lips. "You know how my brains work, don't you? So let's get going." Jaemin then takes a step forward.
Jeno shook his head and silently trailed after the younger. He can't stop him anyhow. If he says no, Jaemin would undoubtedly do everything to make him speechless.
"How's your day today Jeno-yah?" The younger asked while following him behind.
Jeno shook. "Nothing's interesting."
"You need someone like me in your life then," Jaemin said as he stood up in front of Jeno and cupped his own cheeks, thinking he looked cute doing so.
Which is true. Jeno, of course, will not admit this in front of Jaemin.
"I'm not interested."
The older shakes his head, but Jaemin continues to smile at him. He doesn't know why, but seeing Jeno makes him feel good on the inside. Perhaps it's due to his charisma. "You know what, you're freaking handsome do you have a girlfriend?"
"Nope."
"How about a boyfriend?"
"First and foremost, I'm not interested in dating and no one likes me. Who will date someone boring like me?" Jeno scoffed, brushing his hair up, and Jaemin watched him do so.
"Who said you're boring? I'm going to smack that fucker's face. Tell me," Jaemin said, poking Jeno on the shoulder.
"I just know that I'm boring."
"You're not. If you were boring I might just tell my mom that you are not good at explaining things and that we can't get along or something bad so that we won't meet each other. But you know, I'm having fun listening to your voice Jeno-yah and being with you makes me feel comfortable." The younger then flashed a smile at Jeno, patting him on his hair and winking at him.
Jeno doesn't know why but he felt something tingling in the core of his heart when Jaemin said that. However he chose to ignore it, thinking that it's nothing.
"After this tutorial with you, can you not leave me?"
