   Summary

   There is a vastness to the landscape surrounding him, large in a way that immediately falls to incomprehension when seen from the periphery, that steals the breath from Kadokura. Two figures stand before him, backs thrown to shadow. Silhouettes that Kadokura is so intimately aware that the absence of breath is no longer concerning. He supposes this must be no different from drowning. He vainly wishes for the pitying, purifying flush of water in dying lungs to this, the punishing suffocation of the passage of time. 

   But Kadokura, the unluckiest bastard in all of Japan, bears no claim to such a merciful end.
