Work Text:
Meet Rose, who just received a text.
Rose panicked, checking the door color again. Rey’s place did not have a black door. Hers was a deep beige with scratches in the paint she kept mentioning she was going to fix. Confused, Rose texts Ben, her friends’ husband.

Rose pulled up the address she sent to Padmé’s Arrangement Flowers.
Meanwhile: Hux has just found the flowers and they’ve left him with mixed feelings

Gwen Phasma sits at home rolling her eyes. Her best friend was in denial. He clearly was interested in Rose Tico. She decides to help him get to that conclusion. Hux grabs his phone as it chirps.

As soon as Rey comes home, Ben informs his wife about her birthday surprise mix up and the hilarity it will ensue. Together the couple decided to get their friends together. Rose sees a text from Rey.

Hux gets contacted by Ben:

Hux stared at his phone, nervous. The floral arrangement was beautiful but why would Rose send them to him? She had given him no indication that she enjoyed his proximity. Besides, he wasn’t excited at the prospect of admitting what they all knew: he was infatuated with Rose Tico. Stealing his nerves he started texting her.

Rose glared at her phone. Armitage Hux was an insufferable asshole. She didn’t know why she let Rey convince her that he was cute. He was nuance to society. A right and proper jerk! Steaming, Rose stared walking back and forth, angry. That's when she texts Rey.

Rey showed her husband Ben her text messages with Rose. “I think we should change tactics.”
“How?”
“Be honest.”
“Fine, but Hux won’t like that at all. You’re killing any hope he had for their relationship.”
“Just trust me.”
“I always do.” Ben grinned at his wife before texting Hux.
Hux's phone signaled a message coming through. He picks it up.

At the same time Rose gets a text from her bestie:

Ben sighed. His friend was an idiot. Anyone with eyes could easily see how enamored he was with Rose. According to Rey, Rose was at least attracted to him. That had to count for something. He got his phone out, scrolling till he found the only person who could make Hux see reason.

Phasma huffed. Why did she have to fix Solo’s mistakes?
Going to feed his cat, Hux's ear perk up when Phasma texts him.

This was worse than she thought. Drastic situations called for drastic measures. Rose sat cuddled on her couch when an unknown text popped up:
Rose sat down on her couch. Hux had a thing for her. But how? Anytime she saw him he was rude and terrible. But then again so was she. Rose sighed. What was she going to do? An innocent voice in her mind whispered for her to forgive him. She could, if he extended the olive branch first. Yes, that’s what she’d do. She’d contact him, be the bigger man. The little bud of hope sprouted in her heart twitched.

FRIDAY @ 8:00 PM
Armitage is stressing, adjusting his clothes for the numerous time since he saw the clock. His treacherous heart beating furiously as he adjusted his hair once again. This was a date with his infatuation, nothing more. A ping from his phone stopped his fretting.
