Introduction.
Dream had never used his so called ‘powers’ on a livestream before. in fact, he didn’t even like to call them such. Don’t get him wrong, he thought it was a blessing to have such skills that would allow him to pause time at his command, but you have to realise..
one wrong move, and everything could be over.
ok maybe he’s being over dramatic.
But he had never dared to use his time-pausing skills on live, as what if his character ended up in a different place as when he first froze time? the chat would definitely notice, and he would be cancelled for being a cheater.. in whatever way they would try and justify his sudden movement, that is.
so, in order to avoid trouble, he had avoided the use of it on live what-so-ever.
in real life, however, he could use it to his hearts content.
He didn’t exactly realize what drawbacks could come from this, as surely, a gift truly as good as this had to have some drawbacks?
Whatever those said drawbacks where, he had no clue. And he didn’t exactly intend on finding out. He was blessed with this gift and he was going to use it, he hadn’t told anyone. ever. He didn’t exactly like the idea of them trying to send him to some weird science lab and run tests on him all day.
that was until a curious sapnap stumbled in on him one day.
[flashback moment]
Dream was stood in the kitchen, listening as he heard the laughs of Karl, Sapnap and Quackity come from the other room. It was quite a relief to have some company again, a 4/5 feral boys meet up was much needed, even if it did feel like a small piece of them was missing without george, they all knew they needed a break together none-the-less.
Dream sighed contently, knowing there was nowhere else he’d rather be right now.
He reached up into his cupboard to grab a bowl for the popcorn he was making, ready for the boys to share (even though it would probably end up everywhere) when his hand clumsily hit another bowl in the cupboard, making it fall towards the marble floor. Time just seemed to stop for Dream. well... probably because it did. He sighed in relief as he realized he managed to pause time just in time, leaning down to grab the floating bowl in the air before plonking it back down on the counter and unpausing time again, leaning against the counter too as he calmed his heartbeat from the sudden adrenaline.
that’s when he saw Sapnap stood, mouth agape, staring directly at him.
To Sapnap, he just saw the bowl (and Dream) magically teleport.
Dream panicked, knowing that he definitely saw what just happened.
“Dude. You have got a shit ton of explaining to do.”
And he did. Dream explained everything to him that night, from how the first time he paused time it took him a full day to realize anything was different and he had gone into full panic since he had no idea how to reverse it, to how he ever-so-slightly abused his powers in his final exams to google answers as soon as the other feral boys had left.
And sapnap was.. strangely ok with it?
“dude that totally means you could get away with murder.”
“Sapnap... what the fuck?”
They spent the whole night laughing and joking about his abilities, and all it did was make Dream feel closer to him than ever before.
Dream told Sapnap everything after that day. He knew he could trust him.
But now, back to present day.
And to the story of how this ability made him realize he was in love with his best friend.
