he’s alive. he’s alive. with each minute that passes, tanjiro is still alive. but he’s also still asleep, and what if—what if he doesn’t wake up? what if inosuke spends the rest of his life sitting here waiting for those eyes of fire to open and find his again?
it’s odd, really, how resignation comes to inosuke so quickly despite not understanding a thing about it—he’s going to sit here until tanjiro wakes up. whether it takes one day or one week or one month. whether it takes one year. whether it takes the rest of his goddamn life—inosuke is going to sit and watch and wait. he simply will not go on without tanjiro. not this time. not anymore.
(or: when a mission leaves tanjiro nearly dead, inosuke sits at his bedside and refuses to move until he wakes up. it takes two weeks for inosuke to understand why.)

holy fuck. i don't even know what to type, my jaw is just dropped. i love this. i love this so much. i just stared at my screen for about a solid minute, in awe. i can't even put into words how much this fic just wowed me. i love inotan ten times more now. this is the third fanfic that has been so great that i just had to type out a review, so be honored. it'll take me many, many months to get over this. for it to stop being my every thought. i don't think ill ever find any other inotan oneshot as good as this one.
this is now canon in my heart /joke.
and no i don't care that i am multiple years late to read this as it was made in 2021. its that good i just have to write this even though i am so embarrassingly late to it. i will most definitely be coming back to reread this over and over.
