“ have you heard?” Artemis asked her best friend, Babs.
“ heard what?” the red-haired woman asked as she took a seat in front of her mirror and took her brush, “ Sir Richard, will be coming to our village!!” the the blonde woman turned around in circles, her green and white Irish peasant medieval dress floating around her.
“ who?” the woman asked, as she raised her eyebrow questioning her friend, “ oh you know, Richard Wayne?” the green-eyed woman shook her head, which made the other woman sigh, “ Babs, you know him! Sir Wayne!”
“ like the author?” she asked as she collected her hair into a bun, “ No! That’s his little brother! He is the oldest in the family!” Artemis throwed her head back words, ” Art. Why are you telling me this?” Babs asked as she stood up mentioning to her friend to set down, “ BECAUSE! you are the only one from our generation who is a girl in our village who isn't married!”
“ Not this again.” Babs sighed as she started to French braid her friend's long blonde hair, “ I told you, Art! I just didn't find the right one yet.”
They both fell into silence, “ you know, I have a hunch that Grayson is the one.” Artemis said confidentially, “ who is Grayson?”
“ Richard! He goes by Grayson just like his siblings go by a different name, so they’d be recognizable! But, they all gave their father’s name. By the way, his father is Captain Wayne-”
“ HE IS BRUCE WAYNE’S SON??!!” Babs carried with delight, as she finished the braid, “ Are you kidding me!? That Wayne family?” Babs turned around in circles, she was wearing a red dress they was short sleeved, underneath a dark blue lace up over dress, and it was Irish too!
“ is he smart like they say?!” Babs asked Artemis as they start to waking down the stairs and down to their shop.
A book shop.
“ Yeah, he is. But not like his little brother Tim. Also, there are rumors that he is romantic.” the blond woman sighed a dreamy sigh, “ Hold these thoughts. You are already married, Art! You can't think or say that!!” Babs said as she put the “ OPEN” sign on the door, “ yeah I know. Don't get me wrong! I LOVE Wally! I really, really do.” the gray-eyed woman sighed as she leaned on the table.
“ but?”
“ But, you know... He is always busy with the king’s army, and last week was our wedding anniversary!!! But in a totally Wally fashion, he forgot about it, in the 5th year in a row.” she said her face in her palms, “ Luv, I know that we both know that he doesn't mean that! He loves you! Trust me.” Babs hugged her.
“ Thanks, Babs. But really, you need to see Grayson! You know, before your dad makes you marry some stinky smelly man.”
Both women laughed.

The 2 best friends own the North Star library.
Artemis lives with Babs when her husband goes to serve the king’s army.
They live in The Hope valley village, which is surrounded by meadows of grass and naturally grown flowers!
Trees and different animals lived there, lakes are also around.
And their library is not like other!
People don't buy the books, instead, they borrow them; for each week they would be charged $10, until they return the book back.
The 2 girls keep a schedule of the people who have their books.
That afternoon, Art was organizing the books on the shelves at the back, while Babs and was at the front desk, reading some news at the current newspaper that is going around.
Soon the bell on the door rang, announcing a visitor.
The green-eyed woman raised her head, to meet a young man, he had a black hair in a devilish state, he had bright blue-green eyes. He was wearing a high-collared shirt with leather cords at the neck and wrists, a red tunic, brown pants, and leather shoes.
“ Good evening, sir! How can I help you?” she smiled at him as she stood up to greet him, “ Hey! Umm... You guys sell books?” he asked as he ran a hand through his hair.
“ uh. No. We have a different policy from the other libraries! People can borrow books!! But they will be charged! Each week costs 10$! And we really don't have customers who fish the books in less than a week!” she smiled, “ Oh! You see, I am an author! And... I would like to know, can I sell you my books?” He asked as he took out books from a bag he had on his shoulder.
Before the woman could react, the door opened and a, “ Jay! There you are! Timmy, I told you that he was here!!!”
A long handsome man entered the shop, he was wearing similar clothes to the other man, but his tunic was light blue, with a belt, it had an attachment for a dagger- which was there too-.
He had a huge dork grin on, which made him look adorable in Babs’s eyes, his hair was ebony and it was in a devilish state just like the other man, comparing to her skin tone, he was a bit darker, still, it made him glow just like a sun.
His eyes... They are a different story themselves.
Bright.
Colorful.
Babs felt like they had every shade of blue ever existed.
But, when she looked closer, they reminded her of the sea.
She snapped back to reality when she heard, “ Will you look at that!!! Little wing, finally found the perfect library-” Babs hoped she didn't blush, and oh! His voice... She can listen to that rather than the birds in the morning, “- to sell his books!!” the man cheered.
“ Way to go Jay!!!”
Another 2 boys entered, when all 4 stood side by side, they honestly looked alike!!!
“ Uh, sir, you want to sell your books?” the red-haired woman asked getting the boys’ attention, “Ah! Yes! Just to be clear on my side, is it true that people come from all over the lands to your library?”
The man- Jay, she learned his name from the mysterious man in blue, looked at her with hope, she nodded, “ Yes sir! We have a lot of different books that came from all over the lands, even some came overseas!”
The boys in front of her were in awe, she chuckled mentally before offering, “ Each book for 20$?”
“ 30$.”
“ 20$”
“ 35!”
“ WHAT!? NO! 25!”
“ NO! 30!”
“ 20.”
“ Ma’am-”
“ with all due respect, sir! I am sorry, but! I own this shop, I am here your business partner, whether you like it or not! Just like any businessman or businesswoman, I choose what is right and good for my business! Within mind that I am buying 10 books from you.” she spoke in a professional tone, something a lot of women won't do these days, “ and besides! You are going to win more than I do. People will want to read your book, and you will write more, sell more, and for me? I am kind of losing right now, as I am buying 10 books over my budget-” she looked at the name at the corner of the book, “ - Mr. Todd- Oh! I heard about you people say that you are a great author- but that doesn't change the fact of me buying them above the normal price.”
“ Jay, you will win 200$ if you sell them for 20, and the lady is right.” the handsome man said, laying his hand on the younger’s shoulder, “ Oh fine, 20$ per book.
“ Sir, we have a deal.”
After they exchanged the money and books, Jay and the 2 younger boys left, it was just her, the handsome man, and Artemis at the back.
She looked at him, he was standing awkwardly in the middle of the library, when she thought he didn't say something, she sat down to continue reading the newspaper.
Not a few seconds later, the man spook, “ uh... I was wondering if you- if it is ok and you want- can go outside, hang out- no! That sounds wrong! What I meant to say is, you look so nice, and it will be fun to hang out with you? Maybe at 7? After dinner.” he gave her a bright smile.
Babs shook her head in amusement, he really did look nice! And if anything, she will have her dagger under her skirt, it will be easy to finish him if he hurt her, not as he would.
She can tell from his eyes.
Than she remembered.
“ Yeah, I would love that. But, sadly I have dinner with my dad here at my place, who if he knew that I want to hang with you, he will kill me, and kill you too.” she sighed, as she took the new books, and put them on a table, so Artemis will put them on their right shelf later.
“ why? If that’s ok to ask.” he had a concerned look on his face and was leaning on the front tabled, when she turned to face, Ugh, what a gentleman, no man will ask me like that. Even my dad.
“ 1) you are a guy. 2) you aren't from here, and Dad doesn't know you... He will think that you might kidnap me or something.” she shrugged, as she started to wipe the front table, he stood back, “ oh.” He said as he ran his hand through his thick hair, his from turned into a smile, “ look, I can come after 7... 7: 30? And wait for you.”
“ ugh, I told you, already-”
“ you are a smart woman, miss Gordon. I know you would think of something if you wanted to hang out, ” he went to the door, “ wait, how did you know my name?” Babs asked, “ it says, North star library, Barbra Gordon, and Artemis Croke- West.” he flashed her a huge grin and left, “ oh! Silly me, my name is Richard, I hope we can hang out. Sorry, if that sounded creepy... or all of our conversation did... Uh, see ya.”
He left.
Babs smiled a huge smile,
Richard, what a beautiful name.

Richard ran as fast as he can to catch up to his brothers.
“ Hey, look. It’s Dickiebird himself.” Jason said sarcastically, as he rolled his eyes, his older brother only gave him a peace sign and a grin before making their way in a faster pace to their-for the time being- house.
When they opened the door they were faced by their Grandmother, Martha... And looks like she was about to head outside to search for them.
Oops. The 4 boys thought.
“ there you are, boys!! your father and I started to get worried!! You know this village isn't far from the enchantment first!!! And we all know-”
“ We know Nana! Really.” Tim cut her off, “ we are all truly sorry for making you and Papa worried... But guess what!!?” the younger made jazz hands.
The older woman only raised her eyebrow at them,
“ I SOLID MY BOOKS!!!”
Jay yelled as he raised his fists in the air, one of them has a small bag that had the 200$!
Martha’s face lighted up with joy, “ that’s amazing, son! You need to tell your father!” she clapped her hands together.
“ Tell me what?” their father, Bruce, came down the stairs slowly, he had a walking cane in his hand, “ Jay-Jay sold his books,” Damian said calmly as he sat down next to his sister, Cass, who was busy working on a new dress.
“ Really!?” Bruce said, his face was full of happiness that they didn't see as much lately, but, it made them all smile when he was the one who hugged Jason first.
While the 2 are in an embrace, Stephine looked at her older brother, “ what’s up?” she asked him, “ hmm?” he looked at her, “ I don't know Dickie, but... you have that... smile.” she gave him a knowing look, “ what smile?” he asked the blonde teen, still having that smile on.
“ Dickie got a girl.” Cass sang, then returned back to the dress.
Everyone else looked at the said man.
“ well, I meet her earlier and asked her out... I think she agreed? BUT! I have a hunch that she is the one. She is my queen.” he sighed and leaned backwards his back hitting the comfy sofa, Martha sat next to him and took his hands in hers, “ Do you know anything about her? If she was even married? What is her job? Can she get pregnant?-”
“ Relax Mom, ” Bruce sat down on the other side of his son, the younger turned to face him, “ you sure about her son? I don’t want to push you or anything. I don't want you to get hurt.”
“ Yes, Papa. Don’t worry.”

After Richard left their library, Art came to the front desk, and Babs told her about the ‘ hanging out’ thing.
Artemis did scream out of joy for her best friend, but also, she slapped her and told her that was Grayson. The man she told her about.
Just after that, Wally west came into their library with bruises all over his face, he looked injured, but, his wife did jump over the table and hugged him, the both cried a bit.
It was really sweet, Babs always thought, they are married since they were 15, and their love only grew stronger.
Babs told Art to go and have some time with her husband.
Later, When it came 5, Babs closed her shop and went upstairs to proceed cocking.
When it came 6, she placed 2 dishes, silverware, cups, on the small wooden table, then, she placed a big dish that had roster chicken and rice, with a vegetable salad, she poured some orange juice in the cups.
Soon, she heard her house’s door open and closed, then her father came, “ Hey honey, ” Jim sat down, “ Hey Dad.” she placed a kiss on his head, then she sat in front of him, then both started to dig into the meal.
Some time into the dinner, Jim spoke, “ I know you wanted to catch up, and I know we rescheduled the dinner many, many times, but, I am afraid that I have to leave as soon as I can!!! They need me for 4-5 hours... I hope that’s ok with you.”
The woman nodded, “ it’s ok, Dad. We can catch up tomorrow morning if you want!... Hey, I might hang out with a friend of mine if you will go to work?” it felt stupid to ask her dad if she could hang out, outside at night.
She was 20 years old for crying out loud!
“ of course, love. But please don't walk away from the village’s ground.”

Her dad left around 7, she went on and started doing the dishes when she heard something hits the walls of her home.
She ignored it for the 3 times before she went to look outside her window.
When she did, she was faced with the charming smile of Richard himself, “ Hey beautiful! Wanna go for a walk?” he was wearing the same clothes and hair from this aftermnon, just like her.
She smiled at him, “ sure! Dad left!” the man’s smile widened, “ YAY! so come on!!” he walked out of the sight, probably going to my front door! Babs thought as she ran around to turn the lights off, and put her ballet flats.
When she got outside, and as she thought, Richard was there, in his hands he had a small flower bouquet.
“ Hey, gorgeous.” he smiled as he took her hand and kissed it, making her blush, “ Well, hello to you handsome.” she rolled her eyes at the pet name she gave him, but the man only smiled wider and wider, - how is that possible?- “ these are for you, M’lady, ” he gave her the small flower bouquet.
It was pink and purple peony bouquet.
Her absolute favorite.
“ oh, Richard... It’s is so beautiful. You really shouldn't have.” she ran her soft fingers on the flowers, “ you are saying nonsense.” she raised her gaze to meet his electric blue eyes, “ Thank you.” she said, “ just let me put them inside. Be right back!”
When she returned outside, the 2 linked arms and started to walk, “ how did you know it was my favorite flowers?” she asked him, “ uh... Just a guess?” he scratched his neck, “ you know, we need to move quicker, I don't want anyone to see us together and then tell your father.” his voice was serious, As if he was a businessman.
She nodded and both started to run to the west, arms still linked.

When they entered the fields, they stopped linking arms, though, they both had the same idea.
It felt as if our arms were made for each other.
They walked a bit, side by side.
They stopped on a hill, it had the perfect spot to look at the night sky, they took off their shoes and laid on their backs, side to side.
The sky was amazing.
The female was sure she could see the whole Galaxy... The stars, the moon, even some of the planets that are shown.
It was so magical.
Richard looked at her by the edge of his eye, before he started carefully, “ The sky is so beautiful tonight” Barbara hummed, “ you know... It reminds me of my ... Of my Mom.”
“ How so??” the female turned to her side, and so did the male, both now facing each other.
“ well... The Sky is big, just like her heart, the sky is black at night, just like her hair. The Galaxy itself with the dust, just like her creative mind. The stars!! They are these happiness and excitement in her eyes when she sees us, tho, her eyes were green.”
“ Were?” the green-eyed woman pinched her eyebrows, “ yeah... Mommy is gone.” he swallowed, “ she died when I was 14, just before I joined the king’s army.” he nodded to himself, “ oh, I am so sorry, Richard.”
“ Dick.” he whispered, “ huh?”
He looked at her, “ you don't have to call me Richard. No one does really, Dick is my name,” she nodded, “ Right... Then, it’s Babs for me.”
“ haha, okay.”
After few minutes she talked again, “ I lost my mom too. I mean, she left when I was little, Dad searched for her everywhere, and now, after 13 years, if I saw her again, I will kill her.” she snarled, but Dick only laughed at that.
They both fell into a comfortable silence, their hands on top of each other, they were on their backs too, looking at the sky, it felt like the 2 knew each other for a long time in this small conversation.
Maybe we met in a past life.
After a while, Babs talked again, “ is it true that you defeated a whole army of the wizard?”, “ uh, yes...” he looked at her, “ why you ask?”
“ it’s just, I heard a lot about your fights, and how much of an amazing guy you are!” she blabbed at once, “ all of that thanks to my best friend.“
“ and who is your best friend?” he asked, I thought that she is the one... But like every girl, she is just interested in the fame.
“ umm, Artemis?” she said slowly, she was trying to hide the fact that she is scared, but when Dick heard the name he started laughing.
He laughed, and laughed, and laughed some more.
He sat up, still laughing, trying to catch a break, but he couldn't stop.
Finally, he calmed down and looked to his side to see her also sitting there, “ what is so funny?” she asked, her face as red as her hair, “ oh, it’s just, Art is one of my best friends too! She is Wally’s wife?” the woman nodded, “ ah, yes, she came to few of our wars back when I was 17, but then she returned to the village.”
“ oh, ” she voiced, “ for a moment, I thought you were just like every girl I met, always wanting me for the fame, or money. But you... You aren't like them.” he smiled, “ and that’s good?” she looked at him curiously, “ that. That is great. Since I saw you this afternoon, I just felt it, you know?”
“ felt what?” she came closer to him, “ the... You aren't married, right?” he looked at her sharply, “ what? No! I didn't find the one yet.” she sighed, “ The right one?” he asked, as he forgot the topic of earlier, “ tell me about him.”
“ he... I want to be respected and loved, I want him to love me for me, I want him to understand me, and that our relationship is built on being equal! I mean, he is the man, but I also want a voice! Also, I would love it if he and I had fun together.” she said dreamily.
“ what about you?” Babs asked him, “ I... Just like you said, I want the same... But also, when I come home after fights and wars- which might take months - I want her to be happy when she sees me, that she was waiting for me. I want to have kids and a house with her... Also, I want her to be-”
He stooped, and looked around, “ Dick?” Babs snapped her fingers in front of him to get his attention, but instead, he stood up, took out his dagger, and told her, “ Stay behind me.”
The woman stood up, and before she could ask, a loud roaring was heard.“ Dick?” Babs asked softly, he was ready to charge up on anyone who may attack them.
Seconds later, they saw fire going up, from under the hill, the fire was followed by a dragon.
Big, green, ugly.
The female put her hands on her mouth to hide the gasp that came out, “ BOY!!! STAY DOWN! I SAID STAY DOWN!!” The knight started to charge on the dragon who hadn't move from its place, soon, after many stabs, the dragon slowly fell into the wet grass, bleeding slightly.
The man turned to the woman, he started to run towards her, he took her hand in his, never stopping.
After going up on the 3ed hill, the grass was so wet that made the knight and librarian slip... Now, at the end of the hill, on the wet grass, on the ground, far away from that dragon.
And, on top of each other.
The man on the woman, they both started into each other’s eyes deeply, until slowly, the male raised himself and sat down, the woman did the same.
They sat next to each other before they both started to giggle like little children, but soon, both of their laughs echoed around.
When they calmed down, they sat just like that, neither saying a word, but when Dick looked at Babs, he bites on his lips, before he said, “ I like your hair.”
Babs looked at him sharply, her soft long red wavey hair, which was always in a perfect pun, now was loose!
“ uhh, thanks I guess,” she whispered, both of them had a light pink blush on.
The said woman was playing with her fingers when she felt a rough hand taking her very long bangs and put a flower on, then the same hand cupped her cheek, she raised her gaze to meet the man’s electric eyes, “ I want my wife to be strong and independent... Because, if I died in the war I want her to rias our kids, and love them.“ he continued.
“ and, have you found her?” the red-haired woman asked, “ I did, ” the raven-the haired man nodded.
Babs felt all her fantasy being crushed, she lowered her gaze down, “ and... I am looking at her right now.”
She looked up so fast, “ you sure? We just met, and we-”
“ Barbara Gordon! These 2 hours are the best hours in my entire life!!! Maybe we don't know everything about each other, but we have lots of time!” his hand fell into her shoulder, “ So, What you say? Give me a chance?”
The woman nodded.

When he entered his home, after walking his girl home and talking about all of sorts of things, he was feeling so happy and filled with joy.
He will marry her.

2 weeks later:-
It’s been 2 amazing weeks for both Dick and Babs!
They would hang out with each other every night, sometimes Wally and Artemis would join them.
She was the one. She was.
He will ask her for her hand soon.
You just wait and see.

That afternoon, an emergency latter came to their house, his father opened the letter and read it.
He looked like he didn't like what he was reading, “ Papa?” Dick put his hand on his father’s shoulder, “ you ok? You seem... Upset.”
“ ooh... Baby, they are calling you for a back up in fairy war!” Bruce looked at his son, “ wait who?” the younger sat down, “ the king’s army. You need to leave tomorrow’s morning.” the father said, “ oh.” Dick said looking down, his head in his head, “ you ok honey? You usually take these easier than you look now.” his grandmother sat next to him.
“ Yeah, just... That girl- Babs- that I’ve been hanging out with her - who is the one- and we’ve been hanging out for 2 weeks now, and it felt like... Like, we knew each other all our lives! And now... Leaving all of sudden... What will she think?” he sighed.
“ oh chum, just tell her... I am sure she will understand.” his father softly whispered.

“ WHAT!”
“ Babs, please-”
“ No! How dare you?!” the woman cried out.
The man only gave her the letter that came to him earlier, not an hour ago.
Babs took it and read before her body relaxed, “ oh.” she ran the top of her fingers on the royal wax on the letter, “ Dick, I... I am sorry I yelled.” she looked at him, and placed the letter on the table, and came closer to the man.
She placed her head above his heart, her hands on his shoulders, and closed her eyes, soon she felt a pair of strong familiar arms wrap around her lower back and shoulders and a cheek on top of her head.
“ It should take around 2 months max.” the man pulled away from the hug slowly, “ I will write for you as much as I can!!” he kissed her the crown, “ I am sorry for going all of a sudden.”
“ shshsh. Just hold me.” her voice was thick with emotions... And honestly? Who can blame her??

Next morning:-
Babs got ready for the day.
No one except Dick’s family and Artemis and Wally knows about her relationship with Dick.
It will be weird and suspicious if she went to the train station, so! The man had thought of this idea.
He will meet her on the side of her shop, in the alley.
When it became 9 in the morning, the woman got out, instead of the normal pun, her hair was in a side braid.
She was wearing normal short-sleeved black shirt with lace, the overdress was purple, the the underskirt was black, too.
She had a bow on her hair that was purple too.
She waited in the alley in the morning warm sun, patiently.
The train will leave soon for its destination.
Babs really thought that he left.
Forgot about her.
A small tear escaped her green eyes.
“ aww, sweetheart. It’s ok.” her eyes met a blue one.
Dick.
He was wearing his armor, his helmet in his hand, “ hey Babs.” he smiled softly, she gasped as more tears escaped her eyes, “ Oh, God! oh, God!” she related as her arms went around the man’s middle, she knew he was a knight, and he goes to war... It hits her like a shower of bricks that he might die, might never come back.
“ I will be back, I promise,” he whispered into her hair, As if he knew what was she thinking. Babs pulled back, looked at his eyes before kissing him deeply on the lips, he kissed back.
It was the first kiss for the 20 years old couple.
And it was amazing.
After they parted, “ I will back.” he gave her one last smile, before turning on his heels and started to run...
“ BYE LOVE!!! COME BACK TO ME!!! STAY SAFE! I LOVE YOU!!”

After 6 months since Dick left for the fairy war:-
“ Barbara! I have found you a husband!” Jim said as he opened the door to Barbara’s and Artemis’s library.
“ what?” Babs asked, she lowered the book in her hands, it was one of Jay’s.
She was wearing green underskirt and yellow sleeves, her skirt was white with green accents, her Peasant Bodice was green.
Her hair was down... Ever since Dick left, most of the time, she let her hair down. Today, fresh daisies decorated her red long wavy hair.
“ who is he?” she looked behind her dad, to see a long man, he was black with jet black hair, his eyes were dark gray... It was the one and only-
“ LUKE??? DAD!”
I am not marrying him! I am not marrying him! I am not marrying him! I am not marrying him! I am not marrying him! I am not marrying him! I am not marrying him! I am not marrying him!
“ Barbara! Behave yourself!! You are 20 years old woman that isn't married! Which is against nature!” her father said, while the other man nodded, “ I am sorry, but I am not marrying Luke-”
“ Barbara!” Luke cut her off, “ I-”
“ no. I am not marrying you! And I made it clear since our early teens! You don't respect me and-”
Babs didn't get to finish her sentence before the door opened, and a familiar ebony mess of hair popped up from behind the door, with the same amazing blue eyes that Babs see the in her dreams.
“ Hey B-” the man stopped talking when his eyes fell on the other men in the room, “ oh. I... I didn't mean to come now in the middle of your conversation.” he said as he opened the door, his hair was roughed up a bit, he had bags under his eyes, unlike the first time Babs saw him, he was wearing only a normal baggy collared shirt and pants, with normal simple shoes, his left hand was in a sling.
But what made the woman’s eyes water, as he had a pink and purple peony bouquet, a small one than the one in her room, ( that Babs dried, so she can keep it!)
“ interpreting my engagement, you mean.” the other young man stated to the other.
As soon as the blue-eyed man heard that, he dropped the flowers, his face was washed with a look of sadness, hurt, and betrayal.
“ I... I am sorry. I will... I will just leave.”
As he was about to leave, Babs ran towards him and took his hands in hers, “ I missed you.” she kissed him, before he could say anything.
She kissed him hard and deep, making sure that he knew that what is going on wasn't something she wanted, it was forced.
She somewhere in her heart did adore Luke, but simply they both weren't meant for each other like her and Dick.
“ hey! What are you doing?” the black man shouted as they parted, “ Luke fox?” Dick gave him his attention, “ yes.” Luke nodded, “ Captain Grayson.” he extended his right arm to him, they shook, “ Mister Gordon.” he shook her father’s hands, before going around her waist.
“ you are Captain Grayson?” Luke said slowly as the man next to her nodded, ” I thought you were married?”
Dick shook his head, “ no. I didn't get married. Just like Babs, I simply didn't find the perfect girl, until 7 months ago, I met her, ” he looked at her, “ I am going to marry her.” he stated, “ NO. You are not.” Jim said, his pointing finger was towards the man.
“ uh, yes, I am. I love Babs, ever since I met her!! We are such a great team, and we are in love-” Babs nodded, “ - and maybe I wasn't here for few months Because of the fairy war and then I got injured and sick thanks to one of the fairies- THE POINT IS! I am not letting you, good sir, deciding which man will marry your daughter.”
“ why not, kid? I am her dad!” Jim said, crossing his arms over his chest, “ maybe. But she is 20 years old, has her own house, and own shop, she is kind, smart- nO! she is a mad genius, and amazing.” Dick said proudly.
“ she is a WOmaN!” Luke threw his hands in the air, “ yes, she is. She is a woman, which means she is a human. And just like men, they have rights! They are strong, emotionally, and physically!! Maybe not as physically as men, but they carry a baby in their womb for 9 months! While doing housework, and raising children and teaching them, having a job! Damn yes, they should be respected!!!!! And if you, Mister Fox, can't do that, then you can't marry an amazing woman just like Babs!”
“ and you are willing to respect her?” the elder asked, “ he is. He did, he would.” the woman spoke, “ I love him. He is my age, handsome, smart, and supportive... He is my pleasure, and my pain in my life, Dad. And if you don't like him, it’s ok by me. I am willing to move out from the whole village and live in the city if I had to!”
Jim and Luke were shocked, usually, women don't talk back, but really, Barbara Gordon isn't like anyone else.
If this man was being honest... Then why stop him? Why stop my daughter from being happy?
“ Listen to me, young man” the older man looked sharply into the younger’s eyes, “ if you didn't take care of my daughter and my grandchildren, I will show you.”
“ yes sir.” Dick nodded, as he looked at his soon to be bride.
“ Dad? You're serious? Really?” Babs’s face was full of excitement, “ *sigh* yes honey, just... Give me some time before your wedding, Ok? I am not ready yet.” the man sighed, as he got out of the store, followed by Luke.
“ so, how do you feel about having dinner with me and my family tonight?”
“ I would love to.”
